About LongHorn Steakhouse - steak house in Tyler, Texas

Casual steakhouse chain known for grilled beef & other American dishes in a ranch-style space.

Customer Review Summary

The wings at LongHorn Steakhouse received high praise for being well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. However, the ribs were disappointing as they were dry and lacked the expected tenderness. Sides like asparagus were average, while dessert options, though visually appealing, were only decent. Inconsistency in flavor led to some disappointment, though the welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff were appreciated. Several reviewers noted a decline in food quality, especially regarding salads, with one diner unhappy about a wilted salad mix and inadequate service response. Despite mixed reactions to specific dishes, the steaks were generally well-received, with some guests enjoying their hearty flavors. Service varied; some experienced attentive staff, while others felt neglected, particularly at the bar. Overall, the restaurant has potential, with a nice atmosphere and some standout dishes, but variability in food quality and service was a common concern. Recommendations included trying the spicy chicken bites and ensuring steak is cooked to preference.

The wings were the highlight of the meal—well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, and paired with a tangy sauce that really hit the spot. Unfortunately, the ribs were quite dry, lacking the juicy, tender texture you'd expect. The sides, like the asparagus, were fine but nothing extraordinary. For dessert, we had what looked like a caramel-drizzled cheesecake or ice cream treat, which was visually appealing and a decent way to end the meal. While the atmosphere was warm and the presentation of the food was great, the inconsistency in flavor left us a bit disappointed. If you're planning a visit, I'd highly recommend the wings, but the ribs might not be worth it.

The quality the past year has gone downhill. Ordered a field green salad. In my experience, field green includes spinach and spring mix. This implies that all the salad has a dark green color. Not a romaine and iceberg majority mix. I will pay for a higher quality field green salad but this was a $17 salad. Not only that but the spring mix was wilted and browning. When I brought it to my servers attention, she said that they don’t have iceberg or romaine salad mix and that this was their spring mix. When I questioned it again, she said that spring mix has purple leaves in it and she saw purple leaves in mine so that was that. I said that’s not what I expected. She asked if she could get me something else but I had wanted a good salad. I didn’t ask her to fix it but said I was disappointed in their quality and wording. I’d just eat the salmon. I had order salmon in my salad and ate that and left the rest. She didn’t bring a manager after have a customer say they were disappointed and when they didn’t eat their dish. Especially for Longhorns was disappointing.

Staff and environment here are very welcoming. The food is guaranteed to be hot, they make sure the food is out promptly. Our waitress was very friendly and always making sure we had everything we needed. I'd recommend to make a visit here; the food is delicious just packed with flavor.

Solid 4.4... Heading south and had a desire for steak. Stopped in just after 2 pm hoping it's not busy and that the service/food would be plenty. The greeting wasn't the nicest. Atmosphere is what you were looking for. (County music and a western theme.) The 20oz steak let my taste buds along for more. My guest's 6 oz was delicious as well. The meal truly was nice. I hope everyone experiences the same quality. Cheers

Came in for a meal, sat on the bar since I was alone and didn’t want to wait to be seated. Server didn’t even offer me bread rolls like she did with all others. Ordered my usual steak and was cooked to my liking, although was a bit salty along with my French Fries. Food presentation wasn’t even the best as you see but it’s ok, was hungry and not too picky. A few of the items I’m used to seeing in other Longhorn locations, weren’t available. Ate my meal fast and left. Not really one of the best locations but giving the choices I have in the area, would probably return if I have to.

The place is pretty nice. Ranch house themed. Smelled awesome walking in and we were seated quickly. The forks and knife they give you feel good and have nice weight. We placed an order for brisket queso and chips. It was good but the brisket didn't really bring much flavor. Would have been just as good without it. The bread and butter they serve was really good. I ordered a (medium cooked) steak and lobster dish with fried okra as the side. The okra was whole cooked and was amazing. My steak came out medium rare and was room temperature at best. The lobster was overcooked enough the be almost rubbery. Also room temp. Oh, and had a salad with the meal. Far as the atmosphere and the service I would give the place a solid 5 star. The food, I would only give a 3. The prices are pretty typical for the local steak houses.
