About Texas Roadhouse - steak house in Tyler, Texas

Lively chain steakhouse serving American fare with a Southwestern spin amid Texas-themed decor.

Customer Review Summary

Great service with standout bartenders, Anthony and MacKenzie. The food is consistently well-prepared in a rustic atmosphere, but expect a wait during peak hours. Some customers faced issues with their orders, particularly with prime rib that had excessive fat, leading to disappointing experiences and lackluster customer service from management. However, many praised exceptional waitstaff like Jacob and Deedee for their outstanding service and attentiveness. The rolls are a highlight, and while the restaurant tends to be loud and crowded, the overall dining experience is enjoyable. It's recommended to join the waitlist online prior to visiting.

Great service. I set at the bar. I would have to say best Texas road house ever. Anthony and MacKenzie where awesome best bartenders i have ever had. MacKenzie was amazing. You have too keep her no matter what. If she stays i will drive 1hr and half just to see her. Managers took care of any problems that happened.

Depending upon when you arrive (major meal times like noon or 6-7 pm) you could have a bit of a wait. I have found the food to always be well made. This is a rustic experience. Blue jeans or business attire are the normal dress code seen here. Depending on which location you go to they may have a dance floor.

This is long and I apologize, but please read til the end. I have finally reached the end of this love/hate relationship!! Tonight's dinner, which happens to be new years eve, was a birthday gift for my 77 year old mother-n-law who wanted her favorite, the prime rib. We ordered 3 of the 16oz prime rib dinners. At first, I overlooked that we didnt receive the extra dressing we requested. I also overlooked that our main course was brought out before we could get ¼ the way through our salads, causing us to have to hold our salad bowls above the table in order to eat them. I overlooked that we asked for rolls and butter that never came. I overlooked that I requested cinnamon butter with my sweet potato that never came. But what I can not overlook is the steaks that we were presented with. The size of the steaks is not the problem as I understand that steaks shrink 25% when cooked. But what I dont get is how they can serve a customer a cooked prime rib, one of the most expensive cuts on the menu, and ⅓ of it be unedible FAT! In all, these 3 prime ribs had a combined weight of over 13 OUNCES OF UNEDIBLE FAT, as you can see in the picture. That is ALL FAT!! An entire steak's weight in FAT!! And remember, this is the amount of fat AFTER they were cooked. When we spoke to the manager, quietly btw, he was an ass. His manner was hostile. His response was and I quote, " we will cut off more of the fat next time". He had no intentions of fixing the problem because he didn't care. He never even offered an apology. He was noticably pissed that we asked to speak to him. I had to ask that he make this right, so he took $15 off our bill. Of the 48 ounces of steak we ordered, we had a total of 23 ounces of edible meat between 3 steaks that cost us $75 after his generous refund, making these steaks cost $52 a pound. But wait...it gets better!! 3 minutes and 5 bites into my steak, our waitress brought us our ticket AND 3 to go boxes. Talk about suttle!! Everyone around us had been there longer than us but they didnt get to go boxes just minutes into their meal. She never returned to refill our drinks or to ask if we needed anything, although she walked past us 7 times. It was made very clear that they wanted us to go. In 5 weeks we have been there 3 times and spent $360. They got my last cent tonight. Needless to say, my mother-n-laws birthday celebration was ruined. You could call us petty I suppose, but when I order a steak, I'd like to get one that has more meat than fat. Id also like to enjoy the meal without a side of to-go boxes garnished with the bill! I am fully aware that I mean nothing to this resturant and the money I have spent there is mere pennies in the grand scheme of things, but customer service needs to be resurrected. Decent food, edible food, should be the constant and not the exception.

I don’t even know where to start—Jacob’s service was beyond amazing! He didn’t just meet my expectations; he completely surpassed them. It wasn’t just great service; it was next-level service! Jacob was attentive, friendly, and had such a positive attitude that made the entire dining experience unforgettable. Every detail was on point—from how he handled our order to ensuring we had everything we needed without even having to ask. Honestly, I think Texas Roadhouse is training the best of the best because Jacob’s customer service skills are unmatched. This location already has a great reputation, but Jacob raises the bar even higher. If you’re lucky enough to have him as your server, you’re in for an incredible experience. Big kudos to Jacob—keep up the outstanding work! 👏👏👏

The rolls are delicious, and they are on the high range of price. It is worth it. They are known for their rolls, steaks, porch chops, and burgers we come maybe often. Their is a crowd join the wait list ahead of time online. Don't forget to pick up a bag of peanuts.

If you have never been before, just know that it won't matter the location they are always going to be loud. Even if you are not near the bar, it's just a loud restaurant. The steaks are good, sweet potatoes are normally a decent size. The bread and cinnamon butter before the meal is always a nice treat. For birthdays, they have the individual sit on a saddle and swing a cloth towel overhead. It's a great time.

We've been to this location three times since moving back to Tyler in September 2024, and each visit was truly outstanding! All three waitresses that we had were wonderful and did a fantastic job, but one in particular that served us last night (Deedee), is the best and now our favorite. She treated us so well to the point where our 7 year old was excited to see and talk to her every time she walked by, which shows that she really made his day. She knows her stuff and gave excellent recommendations on what to order. We have never been picky about who we get as our waiter/waitress, but that will definitely change at our next visit. DeeDee will be our go-to moving forward.

This place gets REALLY crowded so it can take a while to get your food, but the food is pretty good! We have always received great service from here as well. I do think they should have a larger bathroom for the number of people in the restaurant. Overall, I would recommend this place!
