Everything we had here was amazing! I love that they have a sauce sampler. The ALC steak sauce was my favorite. Ordered the Ribeye rare, and it was cooked absolutely perfectly! Highly recommend 👌

Yall the filet migñon was amazing! I’m not a big steak eater and this was the first time in my life I finished 10 ounce steak because it was so delicious!! The sauces added a fun delight to bites, but the steak definitely didn’t need it. The recommendation of Cabernet paired perfectly with my meal. Overall indulgent, luxurious, and mouth watering meal. Would definitely come back!

Last week, my partner and I made a reservation at ALC Steaks on North Lamar in Austin. Here’s our experience: Atmosphere: the restaurant gives “fine dining” vibes, but you can tell people come in dressed as they please. So there’s no dress code. When you walk in there’s low lighting which gives it a dark feel. This normally doesn’t bother me, but the fact that there weren’t many windows and little ventilation made me feel like I was in a basement. Speaking of ventilation, you can smell the various foods from everywhere, which wasn’t the most comfortable. Obviously, at a restaurant, you’ll smell food. But the smell just kept lingering as we sat down and we were put off by it a little. Seating: We had made a reservation (not walk-in) and so it was a little disappointing when we were seated at a table with missing cutlery. Service: Brian (or Bryan?) was our server. He was lovely! I think as it got busy near the end of our dinner, it took a while to come back around to us when we wanted the check; however, his service throughout was wonderful. Food: We ordered the Buratta as an appetizer; it wasn’t as lovely as expected to be honest. The cheese was a little too cold and not stringy on the inside. It was good, just would have hoped for a bit more texture and flavour. I ordered the surf and turf, medium-rare steak. The steak was actually rare. Still alright but it was a little cooler than if it would have been cooked medium-rare. The lobster was AMAZING. My partner ordered the filet mignon well done with rice. The rice was delicious, but his steak was medium. Not too big of a deal, but if the kitchen doesn’t serve well-done it would be nice to know beforehand. Drinks: we don’t drink alcohol, so it was a nice touch to see Mocktail options. Overall, this is a nice restaurant. A bit on the pricey end which is why we had high expectations.

I'd been hearing mixed reviews about ALC, but mostly positive so I decided to give it a try while celebrating a new job promotion. The ambiance is..interesting to say the least. It comes off as a very traditional, old school steakhouse but the decor is a little confusing, with random paintings on the wall. But, honestly, not a huge deal since I'm here for the food! The service was a bit slow, but nothing that impacted our dining experience that badly. I shared the Tomahawk for 2 with my partner along with two sides of brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. I also ordered a non-alcoholic strawberry spritzer. I was pleasantly surprised by the tomahawk! It was cooked a little more rare than what we ordered (medium rare), which I was fine with, but my partner preferred it to be cooked a little longer. However, the steak quality and flavor were great! The garlic mashed potatoes were okay, pretty garlicky but tasted like boxed potatoes. I would've preferred for the potatoes to be more creamy. The brussels were good, and I liked the sweetness. My strawberry spritzer was not great. It tasted like straight strawberry syrup and was not very carbonated. Overall, I enjoyed this experience and I now have a good spot to come get a solid steak!

Don’t waste your money here. We were looking forward to having a great meal that was sourced locally and had high expectations, but it wasn’t worth the money. Our bill was $200 for two non-alcoholic drinks, one appetizer, two steaks, and three sides. The steaks were pretty good but not amazing and the sides were subpar. Salt Grass steakhouse is way better and more affordable. Service was great and had a nice atmosphere but the food wasn’t worth it.

When it comes to steak, it's the quality of the meat itself that I care most about. Every steakhouse should be able to deliver consistent cooking with simple seasoning, but not all source great beef. Our NY Strips were terrible. I was at a table with people I just met. We were all trying to be polite and to eat our steaks until one person looked up and asked me how mine was. I answered "OK?" Trying not to ruin his meal for him. He looked down at his plate with a frown and then apologized for not taking us to a better steakhouse. I decided to leave the rest of mine unfinished. I eat a ton of steak, but I generally get it from a local butcher and eat at home. It's the best. This steak was hard to cut, tough to chew, and somewhat flavorless. It was cooked fine. On top of that our brussel sprouts were so overcooked they were charred to the point of being ash in our mouth. For many years I would eat at all the best steakhouses in the major US cities for work. While I now prefer local grass-fed, I know a great dry-aged corn fed steak when I taste it. I used to live down the street from Peter Luger's. I've eaten at most of the New York City steakhouses. Our ALC steaks terrible.

Delicious!! I took my husband here for a celebration dinner while we were visiting Austin. The food was great! I have a dairy and gluten allergy and the staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating. I got the tuna steak and brussels - both cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the tomahawk steak woth the bacon mac n cheese and zucchini. The portions were great and everything is appropriately priced. We were both so satisfied and happy with our orders and agreed this was the best meal we had in Austin! The atmosphere is great and again the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend!

Bob my server was AMAZING… One downfall, I just think the side we were placed to sit is a little outdated. Needs new lighting fixtures just like the rest of the restaurant. But, overall it was a good experience. Buffalo lamb chops were amazing, along with the glazed brussel sprouts. Husband, enjoyed his steaks
