Customer Review Summary
HK on the Bay is praised for its friendly staff, delicious food, and cozy ambiance. The seafood nachos are noted for their large portion sizes, while the butternut squash gnocchi and pesto chicken gnocchi received high marks for flavor. Service is generally attentive, though some reviews mention issues with wait times and drink refills. The restaurant provides a variety of reasonably priced appetizers during happy hour. Guests enjoy a dog-friendly dining area, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. However, there are mentions of inconsistent food quality, such as burnt fish and underwhelming portions in some dishes. The ambiance has been criticized for being more bar-like with loud music, which some customers felt detracted from the dining experience. Overall, HK on the Bay is appreciated for its generous portions, tasty food, and friendly service, but with some room for improvement in dining ambiance and consistency.

This local spot is phenomenal - friendly staff, delicious food, and cozy ambiance. We had the seafood nachos which were HUGE, and the butternut squash gnocchi, which far exceeded our expectations. Great drink specials and a happy hour that lasts until 7 🙌🏻

The dishes are good, and the serving size was ok. The ambiance was cool, food took a bit of time, and I had to ask for refills. Scallops were great, but fish in the fish n chips meal was a bit burnt and brussel spouts as well. The seafood nachos tasted good but lacked meat. Someone kept changing the light brightness and music volume like there was a malfunction, which was weird.

Absolutely loved the food. The Brussel sprouts turned a none sprout eater into a sprout eater!!! The pesto chicken gnocchi was absolutely amazing the chicken was tender and it was full of flavor. The flounder was perfectly breaded and tasty. Huge portion of the fish and chips. I didn't care for the first alcoholic drink I had but the orange crush I tried next was really good. They were nice about swaping it out. It was a lite evening so we sat right away. We didn't have anyone next to us so it was cozy and quaint at the time. Server was very nice. Overall a great experience.

Wonderful service. Both waitresses worked together and were very attentive. They have 4.00 OFF appetizers from 5-6pm. We had wings and tuna poke. I had the crab cake and steak, and hubby had the burger. Best steak and crab cake meal ever!!

First time at Virginia Beach, first time at a restaurant. The best part, there's an area where dining with your pup is allowed. Food was great, big portioned, delicious. Staff was really nice as well. Credit card was accepted

Stayed close to home. Sat at the bar and Mike took great care of me. It was happy hour but didn’t know until I got ready to pay. Very nice Cesar salad 12oz strip. Mashed and broccoli. Large glass of cab….$4.00 BUCKS. oh boy

It's a bar. Wait staff is friendly and helpful. Music too loud for a restaurant. Ambiance is lacking for food prices. Food was well prepared and mostly tasty. I had the fish and chips. It was OK. Others in our party were mostly satisfied. Portions were reasonable.

First time here. We are visiting the area and stopped in for a drink. Ended up getting the seafood nachos, which was a huge portion and extremely good. My wife loved the apple pie old fashion. I really enjoyed my stout. Next time we are in the area we will stop in.
