The General Public-Suffolk

So you know those hole-in-the-wall places everyone is always looking for? Those places that have amazing food, for a great price, in a small, local shop, generally tucked away in a location you wouldn't even think to look. Well, this is one of those places. A friend and I wanted a good burger and The General Public was fairly close and seemed to get amazing reviews. So we figured we'd try it. So glad we did. My buddy said his burger was one of the best he'd ever had (and he is a bit of a foodie), I had a veggie burger and it was hands down the best I have ever tasted. Actually broke apart a piece of the patty to check that it wasn't meat. Homemade lemonade and soda was spectacular, amazing friendly family atmosphere...next time I am in the area I will be going back. What a wonderful find.

Great news, it’s worth the drive from an hour and 15 minutes away. I will return for more great tasting food. The menu if full of delicious tasting food for everyone. The wings are great tasting with my favorite being the honey sriracha, old bay, and buffalo. I will try the other flavors next trip. The public loaded waffle fries are great as well as the house salad. We also tried the catfish nuggets and this also is a must try. Most importantly the service, the workers were very friendly. The food is served hot and tasty. Check out the full menu as it’s hard to decide…lol

Their food is always fresh made to order! You can't order anything that doesn't taste good because it all is soo yummy and flavorful. You can really feel the love in their food and the sauteed string beans are to die for!!! 5 Star highly recommend!!!

My family are from Virginia Beach and came out to Suffolk for the wreath laying ceremony at the cemetary. We stopped here for a quick lunch . We were pleasantly surprised when we tasted all of our plates. The food was exceptionally delicious. This place is a definite stop from now on! Try it! It’s amazing!

Amazing place! Had the steak bowl and the Philly burger. Awesome. And their waffle fries with garlic parm..please get that. Service was supreme. They are so nice! Will definitely come here again

The best atmosphere and greatest food ever. I recommend The General Public to anyone for the desire of great food. All of their food is delicious and flavored for perfection. The wings is definitely the best I've ever had. Thank you for your passion. Will be back soon.

It's been awhile My Kitties 😸since I have done a review. I am pleased to write this review about a Hidden Jem I have come across in Downtown Suffolk called The General Public. We dined 🍽 there for lunch today and the food was delicious 😋. The waitstaff was very helpful and nice. Lunchtime on Saturdays is a bit busy, so don't leave home without your patience. The chicken wings were awesome especially Old bay wings. Ask for extra napkins. I got the carribean bowl (unfortunately not with utensils) Had to ask for them👀. Healthy portions Jim had the Brunch Burger ( which was delicious as well. If your looking for a spot with great atmosphere with home grown appeal you'll have to take a trip downtown to visit The General Public. Til Next time My Kitties 😸.

The food and service is good but they are never open. One time I called for a week straight and they wasn't open and when they did finally open, I wanted wings, she going to tell me they don't have any because they were closed and needed to smoke them. In my mind I'm like you were close for a week, so you mean to tell me you couldn't smoke them at that time.
