Customer Review Summary
Overall, Saltgrass Steak House receives mixed reviews from diners. Many guests enjoy the food, highlighting dishes like the wedge salad, Cajun ribeye, and the excellent bread. Service is frequently praised as attentive and friendly, with some servers going above and beyond for special occasions. However, there are recurring issues with food preparation, such as over-seasoning and undercooking, which has led to dissatisfaction. Ambiance can be noisy due to close table arrangements, and there are concerns about cleanliness and food safety practices among some staff members. Prices have been noted as higher than expected, leading some customers to reconsider return visits. Despite these drawbacks, several patrons express a willingness to return, particularly when celebrating special occasions or dining with attentive staff.

We had double pork chop, top sirloin and wedge salad. The wedge salad was delicious large enough to share, the sirloin was small, well cooked and flavorful. Pork chop was large enough to share. We had baked potatoes. Ask for extra cheese and butter as the toppings are sparse. Good service. The tables are a little too close, making it noisy and difficult to have a conversation. Good old fashion with large ice cube.

I have not been to a Salt Grass in 15 years and it was worth the wait. Our waiter was awesome and got everything started for us right away. Everyone at our table loved the bread. We ordered pickles and peppers for an appetizer and that was all devoured. I had the Cajun ribeye with loaded mashed potatoes and really enjoyed that as well.

First time here. I had 10 oz ribeye and it was cooked properly. However the pepper that was used to season it was heavy for me and my wife. She had the tenderloin tips all good except the pepper again was heavy for us. Over all good place to eat and the service was great. Very attentive to us. Atmosphere was good music was rocking.

Very good food. Great and attentive service from our wonderful server. The food was prepared as we requested and our empty cups were refilled immediately. Thanks Catherine for making our 9th Wedding Anniversary dinner a pleasant close to our day.

I am usually not one to leave reviews, but this was definitely needed! My husband and I decided to let the craziness of Valentine's Day calm down a little and went the day after to enjoy us a steak dinner. He ordered a porterhouse steak, and I got a Pat's ribeye. We also ordered an appetizer of chips w/brisket queso. We both opted on potato soup as our option with the plates. We got all of our food surprisingly fast. The presentation was overall excellent. Both of us ordered our steaks medium. I have been a waitress for many years and have always been taught to have your customers cut their steaks to check for wellness before walking away to ensure they are cooked to their liking. That was not the case here as they bought our plates and walked away. My husband and I are not ones to complain, so we ate it as is. My husband ate the majority of his, but I only ate about a quarter of mine. It was way undercooked and extremely over seasoned. As we sat and enjoyed a couple drinks during and after eating I finally worked up the courage to mention to one of the servers about my steak being undercooked and over seasoned her response was just a simple "oh I'm sorry about that". Also, I had gone to the bathroom, and one of the waitresses had gone in the stall, I'm assuming she went and peed. She flushed the toilet and walked right out!! Even if she didn't pee the fact of going in and touching the handle to flush and walk out without washing her hands blew my mind!!! Thank God she wasn't our waitress because I couldn't imagine her handling our plates of food!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!!! In the end, we discussed the fact that our favorite part of our meal was the chips and queso, then the soup, and the beers, then lastly was our steaks. I do not know that I can see us ever coming back here. Which is sad because this is our first visit here (as we just moved here from San Antonio, where Saltgrass is one of our top favorite places to go for a steak.) I brought my steak home and rinsed it off and cooked it better to not have our money go to waste on what was supposed to be our Valentine's date night. Spending over $140 for dinner and a couple drinks and not enjoy it is pretty sad!

Let's talk about Salty Grass, I visited it because some friends invited me. When I arrived, I realized that logically, I was in a steak house. My friends had already ordered, and so I sat down and ordered my appetizer, some fried mushrooms. My friends ordered Chip and Cheese with Brisket and an order of fried onion. But I'll talk about that later. I also ordered an order of Ribs with Chicken and mashed potatoes as a side. And my friends ordered 2 T-Bone steaks. After several minutes, the dishes arrived. The nachos with cheese looked good, although I didn't try them. The Onion looked soft, but I didn't try them either. The mushrooms, on the other hand, were not crispy, something that was strange to me since they claimed to be fried. Had no crispness anywhere. When I went to try the ribs, they had a strong grilled flavor. That flavor when the grill is too hot and you just burn the meet, yes, that flavor. Although the ribs were soft and came off the bone on their own. And the barbecue sauce was little to non excited. The predominant flavor was the taste of the hot grill and burnt meat. The chicken had a sauce that I personally didn't like. But the worst was the mashed potato, a sandy mashed potato, which you could tell they had mixed mashed potato from a box, with a little real potato to give it the appearance of a real potato. That was really disappointing. They didn't even take the time to do it right. One of the steaks came out well, medium well as expected. But another of the steaks was completely raw when asked for Medium rare. I know what a piece of meat is supposed to look like when you order it that way, and apparently, they didn't know how to cook it medium rare... Overall, I give them 3⭐️ Although the customer service as impeccable, and the waitress really did a great job. Do I go back? I don't think it is worth. If you really want a great SaltGrass Steak, take it to go and re-cook it at home. I did and came out way better.

Saltgrass Steak House located in Waco, Texas is an overall a good restaurant. The service was average, the food was good but the prices are higher, they have increased. We were surprised about the prices. We had a party of 5. We only had water to drink and we only ordered one appetizer. Two of our party ordered a hamburger / cheeseburger. No desserts. And our bill was $175. We could have eaten at another good (same or equal quality) restaurant for less money. It’s a shame that Saltgrass is pricing themselves out of the restaurant business. Because we do enjoy their food. But due to prices we will go elsewhere.

We had a wonderful day here celebrating my husband's Birthday 🎂. Our waitress Shelley was so nice and helpful as well as attentive. She was so sweet and helped me surprise my husband for his Birthday by giving him a Surprise Strawberry Cheesecake. Delicious 😋 and wonderful 👍. We had the Grilled Chicken and mashed potatoes. My husband had the Steak and Broccoli. Everything was Exquisite 😍😊👍👍👍👍👍. Thank you for everything and especially Shelley helping us with the Manager getting our Birthday Comp off our Landry's Select membership. We will definitely be back. Thank you again Shelley. You were Great 👍👍👍👍🤗🤗. Everyone must try the Rattlers, those are Delicious 🤤😋👍👍👍👍👍.
