Customer Review Summary
Hayashi Japanese Steakhouse has received mixed reviews from diners. Many noted the food is flavorful and well-prepared, with particularly positive comments about the hibachi filet mignon and shrimp when dining in. However, delivery portions are criticized as being disappointingly small compared to dine-in experiences. Service has been highlighted positively by some, with attentive staff and a clean atmosphere, although there have been complaints about long wait times during busy periods. Certain guests expressed satisfaction with special dietary accommodations, while others reported significant issues with order accuracy and quality, such as missing ingredients and being charged incorrectly. Overall, the restaurant boasts a great taste but faces challenges with portion sizes, service consistency, and quality control.

We just ordered the hibachi filet mignon and shrimp from Hayashi for delivery. While the taste of the food was excellent—flavorful and well-prepared—the portion sizes were extremely disappointing. The meat and rice servings were very small, with only a few bites of filet mignon and a tiny container of rice. However, I’d like to highlight that when we dine in at the restaurant, the portions are much larger and feel worth the price. It seems there’s a big inconsistency between the dine-in and delivery experiences. I hope the restaurant considers improving the portion sizes for online orders to match the dine-in quality. Taste: 5/5 Portion size for delivery: 2/5 Overall: 3

Reservation made for 6pm. Arrived a few minutes early. We were sat at 6:10pm. We didn’t see another person nor employee for 30 min. Finally we ordered drinks, meal and all. 20 min later another table was seated. Half our drinks arrived some wrong. The others had to be reordered. Upon drink arriving after being seated an hour. The other table started with their chef as we still had no one. We were advised they only had two chefs at the moment and they mistakenly took the later table first. 2 hours later (other table already I’m half done with food) no chef, no soups, no salads nor contact from anyone besides appetizers being served slowly and cold. We decided to leave and as 9 of us walked out were asked why we were leaving and asking for our check at the door. All in all completely disappointed. Our order was over $150 a couple. Not one person addressed any issue unless we asked or decided to leave.

Best Hibachi grill I've been to in a long time! Ate there two nights ago and the kids and wife are still talking about how amazing and flavorful the food was! Very attentive staff, our glasses were refilled before they even got to half way! Definitely recommend.

Sushi was great and the fish tasted very fresh. The sake was a bit strong and not really to my liking. I would definitely go back and would like to try some of the other options they have on the menu. The scenery is very inviting and nice to look at.

Tonight we went to Hayashi for my daughter’s 11th bday so she could see her best friend from Midland & eat her favorite food. I unfortunately Have to be gluten free as I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 2 months ago. I was nervous because a hibachi place elsewhere messed up my gluten free meal and made me horrifically sick. I was more than willing to sit there tonight with just a bowl of white rice if needed but Hayashi was wonderful at accommodating my medical need. They prepared my meal first so it wouldn’t be contaminated and had gluten free soy sauce so I didn’t miss out on flavor. It was such an awesome dining experience and it was nice to go out to eat and get to enjoy every bit of my meal.

Disappointing experience at Hayashi Japanese Steakhouse in Midland, TX. The restaurant has a lot of room for improvement. First off, my Teriyaki Shrimp came on a large bed of steamed broccoli and onion slices instead of the advertised vegetables is unacceptable. Not only did they fail to deliver what was promised, but the lack of variety in the dish is disappointing. Furthermore, the fact that the mud veins had not been removed from the shrimp shows a lack of attention to detail and quality control in the kitchen. To add insult to injury, the fried rice I ordered was devoid of vegetables, which is a standard component of the dish. It's hard to believe that a restaurant that claims to serve Japanese cuisine would overlook such a fundamental aspect of their menu item. Believe it or not, when we received the bill, we were charged EXTRA for the rice. Unbelievable. Overall, my experience at Hayashi Japanese Steakhouse was shamed. Their kitchen staff is lazy. The quality of their dishes is disgusting. This restaurant falls short of expectations.
