About Vernon's Smokehouse - steak house in Memphis, Tennessee
Informal eatery featuring Presley family favourites, including ribs, catfish sandwiches & meatloaf.
Customer Review Summary
Vernon's Smokehouse has received mixed reviews from diners. Some patrons highlighted that the food was pre-prepared and lacked freshness, with complaints about small portions and subpar quality, particularly the brisket and cobbler. Service was described as cafeteria-style, with minimal interaction from staff, although a few found the staff friendly. The dining experience can be hit or miss; while some enjoyed their meals and praised dishes like the BBQ sampler and catfish, others were disappointed by the flavors and presentation, notably the use of styrofoam plates. Overall, the restaurant seems to have potential due to its location within Graceland but struggles with consistency and quality.

The Vernon’s Smokehouse Restaurant in the Graceland Park is an attractive place that really could be much better. The food is good, but is prepared ahead and kept warm. The staff are not very friendly or outgoing but they do get the food dished up and get you checked out.

Unfortunately, I really wish I could give this a better review. Graceland was such an amazing experience, I thought the restaurant would be on par, but it was lacking...the food was meh, and the portions were small considering the price. We ate at the Graceland Guest House the night before, and it was excellent. Wish Vernon's was better...

We ate here after spending all day at Graceland. We got the beef brisket sand which combo with comes with 1 side, a drink and a dessert. For the price we paid ($25 per combo), the food was not good at all. The cobbler was gross and the brisket on the sand which was two small slices of brisket on a plain bun. The food wasn't fresh at all. The BBQ sauce was the best part of the meal. We were disappointed with this place. This is Memphis-the BBQ should be amazing but it was not. If Elvis came in to eat here he definitely would have "LEFT THE BUILDING".

It is a theme-park eatery, serving the multitudes with cafeteria line service. With that said, some of the best collards I’ve had in Memphis.

Had the brisket which had a lot of fat on it. The greens were very watery, no taste. Jiffy cornbread. Fried okra was too salty. Food definitely prepared ahead and you could tell by the taste. Wouldn't recommend.

4/16/2023: I hate to give anything Graceland less that 5 stars, but we were not impressed with Vernon’s Smokehouse. We purchased the Ultimate VIP Graceland Tour Package which includes a complimentary meal (if you do the early tour time) at Vernon’s Smokehouse. It’s cafeteria style, walk up ordering type of place. They have a good variety of meats and sides, but we were surprised at the low/little flavor. They serve the food on styrofoam plates and give you plastic utensils. Do you know what happens when you put your fork into a piece of meat on a styrofoam plate? It goes right through the plate. They need to rethink the serving for sure! I just figured a restaurant on the Graceland property with Elvis’ daddy’s name would be better. I had minimal interaction with the staff, but what I did have was good. Hopefully they will fix the issues with the food and serving.

Located within Graceland and definitely worth eating. After our tour we decided to eat here and we were very impressed. Staff is super friendly and engaging, has plenty of seating and it’s very clean. Wife and I shared the BBQ sampler with 2 sides $22. Came with ribs, pulled pork, chicken leg, slice of brisket, sliced of chicken breast. The sides we had was delicious; the creamy Mac & cheese was fantastic, the baked beans had sweet and hickory flavor, mashed potatoes with the gravy was on point and the cornbread oh my, moist and sweet (get 2) lol. Cherry cobbler for dessert was great way to top it off. A must try after the Graceland tour

I don’t understand why this place has bad ratings. I ended up in here after my VIP Graceland tour… they give you a lot of food and it was tasty!!!! The mashed and gravy and the hush puppies were awesome! The catfish was some of the best I ever had.
