Stopped in while working in Bend. I stayed here (hotel) many years ago and always enjoyed the running rapids outside. I must say, we were just floored by this restaurant and lounge. The atmosphere is calming. The food, smart. And we must say since we map for our directory, the restrooms became a VIPee location. That in itself punctuates how much care they have for customer experience. A must go place.

Came by for brunch and ordered an avocado toast, they were gracious to make it to my preference, which was a deconstruction of how they make it. When the food came, there was a fly in it(šš), but they made a fresh batch. Only bummer was server was like, that's downside of sitting outside. I ordered a prosecco, and only realized I was given the more expensive one when paying. The river views here are super lovely, ambience as good as described and the food great. They get busy but food service remains reasonable. Great spot to start my food and beverage exploration journey in Bend!!

The service is not par with the atmosphere and the food they serve. They dont have the appropriate wine glasses for the class of wine they serve and the server does not know how to pour the appropriate amount of wine into the wine glass. The medium rare steak we ordered came out medium well and the pork dollar rounds came out half raw. They did not provide steak knives for the steak and took forever to bring them when asked. The appetizer shrimp diablo was good and the soup was tasty but again the server could not answer what spices they were made of. The server disappears after taking the order and seldom stopped by to check on us and we had to wait on the server for most of the evening, especially for the check. The restaurant was mostly empty during our dinner so we did not understand the slow and sloppy service. The atmosphere is something worth considering but we would most likely never come back to this restaurant.

We had high expectations for the service at this place but it failed right at the front line with a terrible hostess. We had a reservation made hours prior for a table outside. When we arrived the hostess told us it would be about 20 mins; which was fine with us. We sat down by the bar where we were still visible to her. We saw a few people leave the patio area and a couple of tables get cleared outside, so we relocated right by the hostess station and we watched the same hostess greet a family who was just getting there and sit them all outside right away. My wife approached the hostess about the mishap. She seemed surprised by my wife reminding her that we had a reservation. But instead of apologizing to us she kept walking and said in a rude tone āwell they had calledā. I wasnāt sure how that could be a good explanation. We had a reservation, we showed up on time, and someone who arrived either without a reservation or late for their reservation, got seated before us. When I followed her to her station and tried to reminded her that we had a reservation and we had been there on time, she quickly said to me with a smirk on her face āIāll just sit you on the other table that opened up outside.ā No apologies. She then sat us at a dirty table. When my wife asked her if she could have the table cleaned, she ignored her, and then grabbed a rag and went to clean another table in front of us wearing a smirk on her face. I had to nicely ask our waitress to speak with the manager. The manager was the first to apologize and he had to come clean the table himself. However, he also did not offer anything else as a way to make the experience better for us. In the end we enjoyed our dinner as a family, but the event put a kink in our evening. The food was decent but nothing extraordinary. We were staying at the hotel that this restaurant is part of and this experience was disappointing given that hotels typically know more about hospitality than other places. Whoever runs this restaurant makes a big mistake in hiring a young, inexperienced person with a poor attitude for servicing the hostess spot, and thatās putting it nicely. I actually felt there might have been an element of racial discrimination at play with the hostess attitude towards us. I canāt prove it, but it sure felt upsetting to see a completely white caucasian family get seated in front of a mixed race family like us. The smirk on the hostessā face while doing it made me think that she might have been enjoying it somehow and that it might have been based on race. Putting that aside though, just being treated the way we were treated while patronizing this restaurant and hotel was enough to give this place just a couple of stars. One star for the decent food and one for the atmosphere. I wouldnāt recommend this place. For reference, we visited around the 4th of July weekend.

I shared my dining experience in the lodge review on my profile. But needlessly to say, the river made the experience a lot better. Such a beautiful place to visit if you're in the Bend area.
