Customer Review Summary
The ribs at Montgomery Inn The Boathouse are highly praised as the best many patrons have ever tasted, with tender, falling-off-the-bone meat and a unique barbecue sauce. The sides, including steamed broccoli and sweet potato, received positive remarks for their quality and flavor. Desserts, especially the Chocolate Volcano Cake served with Graeter's ice cream, were also well-received and made for a memorable end to the meal. While many have complimented the friendly and knowledgeable staff, some experiences with service were inconsistent, particularly with one waiter. The outdoor patio view and ambiance were appreciated, though the decor has been described as outdated. A few customers found alternatives like brisket less satisfactory compared to the ribs, suggesting that those who don't want the signature ribs might find better options elsewhere.

Hands down the best ribs I have ever eaten. I usually avoid ribs because they are high fat and high calorie and whatnot, but these were so famous I had to try. WOW - so soft and actually falling off the bone. They didn't even seem very fatty at all. My husband absolutely loves! That has had quite a lot of them and he said these were the best he has ever had as well. That barbecue sauce was also so unique and flavorful so I totally see why this place is known for its barbecue ribs! He ordered the 2-items combo item where we got the grilled chicken, ribs, side of broccoli, sweet potato. I absolutely love how the broccoli was steamed and not fried or roasted with oil or anything like that. It was so perfectly soft and tender and yummy. Sweet potato side dish was also delicious. Perfectly soft and creamy and it gave it that delicious honey butter on the side which was unbelievable. I thought the dessert husband really wanted to try that Chocolate Volcano Cake and WOW. It was hard to pick one item on the dessert menu because everything seems so delicious but really glad we went with this. The chocolate cake was half and warm and gooey and to yummy and went perfectly well the ice cream on the side. They actually served ice cream from Graeter's which we were very grateful for. Apparently they usually only give the vanilla, but the server knew we were visiting and celebrating our anniversary so he added an extra scoop of the special Midnight Snack. What a beautiful dessert!

Went here on vacation with a tour group. There were 42 of us for dinner. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and fast! The ribs were tender and fell off the bone, and the chicken was moist and delicious! We've all said we're definitely coming back when we're in town. The outside patio overlooks the Ohio River and several really cool bridges. We don't get that in Texas!

montgomery inn bbq sauce is the only sauce we use for bbq. I was excited to eat here and food and service didnt disappoint! server was good and their pulled pork nachos are bomb! my husband and I shared it and we were so full just by eating it as appetizer. we split a king slab and have plenty left to take home.

When you think of the word customer service Bobbi and Ellie are the standard. Both of them provide the excellent experience you want and wish all places had. When you know these two are taking care of your carry out order, no need to wonder if something was forgotten or missing, the order is always correct. Both these ladies are on point. Make sure you tip them. Boathouse you have 2 great employees in Bobbie and Ellie. I appreciate the wonderful service I had today on my carry out order.

If you don’t get the ribs, the other option or two aren’t great. The brisket I got was super fatty, and I love a good/fatty brisket, just melts in your mouth. This one was tough, and the fat didn’t melt in your mouth. I actually had to spit out some of it, as it was too big to swallow. Not something I wanted to do at a “nice meal”. The decor is as if you are in an abandoned manor from the 80’s. They keep the lights low, so you don’t notice the dullness. There’s not an option of sauces, just there’s. If you want to get good ribs and meat, and you are going with a group that doesn’t ALL want Montgomery Inn sauced ribs, go somewhere else. Smokey bones has multiple sauce options, chicken and salad options, and good drinks.

Best meal I’ve had in awhile. The king slab with the mac and cheese. Hats off to Stephen who took care of us. My friend was highly impressed by his hospitality and Stephen restored his faith in restaurants. Stephen is the man.

This place is long known for ribs, so we ordered a rack and potatoes as sides (picture included). The meat was fall-off-the-bone good. The clear winner... Their inhouse sauce. A delicate blend of spices and savories that makes your mouth water and flavored the meat. In short, it's worth wearing the bib they offer and tie on you themselves.

Waiter was awful, his name was John. Maybe he was new but he barely checked in with us and we asked for refills multiple times and never received them from him. We had to ask a different wait staff to bring them. We requested extra plates to split our salads. He brought small dessert plates, not the same plate as the salad comes in so we couldn't use them without a huge mess on the table. Our appetizer came out as our meals did, so I don't think it was ever put in until they were. He also never refilled any water. Other than this experience with him we love the Boathouse
