About Ivory House - steak house in Cincinnati, Ohio

Customer Review Summary

Ivory House is praised for its excellent service and atmosphere. Many diners enjoyed the live piano music, creating an elegant dining experience. The food is mostly well-received, particularly the steaks like the NY strip and tomahawk pork chop, praised for their flavor and preparation. Compliments also go to the addictive dinner rolls and well-prepared sides like asparagus and fingerling potatoes. However, there are some criticisms about specific dishes, such as the prime rib tasting like steak and underwhelming desserts. The brunch experience received high marks, with standout dishes like Veggie Hash Cassoulet. Some diners encountered issues with overcooked steak and salty dishes, leading to mixed feelings about value for high prices. Overall, while many recommend returning, some express hesitation due to the cost and occasional food inconsistencies. The ambiance is noted as a strong point, ideal for special occasions, though decor may feel generic to some.

Went here because it has a reputation of great steaks. The atmosphere was superb. Live piano music. The service was by far the best thing here. The dinner rolls were quite addictive. We ordered the sea bass entre and the prime rib special. The sea bass was huge and tasty. The prime rib was also generous in size. Cooked as requested, but tasted more like a steak than prime rib. The desserts were ok...not the reason for coming All in all, glad we did it once. It was a bit of. Drive to get here so probably won't do it again given the distance and cost.

This is white tablecloth steakhouse in Westwood (Cincy). The hostess quickly sat us at our table, we did have a reservation. Our waitress, Elisa came & greeted us & got our drink order. Bar service was quick (2-3 minutes). Elisa took our order & answering any question we had. Then she brought us the house made warm rosemary bread with butter. It was absolutely delicious. We ordered the NY strip (medium) with asparagus & fingerling potatoes & the tomahawk pork chop with whipped potatoes & elote creamed corn. The NY strip was cooked perfect with an awesome seared flavor. The fingerling potatoes were very tasty & grilled. The asparagus was tender & cooked to perfection. The tomahawk pork chop was amazing. It was tender, juicy & full of flavor. It was seated on top of the whipped potatoes & drizzled with a cherry sauce. The elote creamed corn was unique & tasty. It had sweet cornbread crumbles in it which put a unique spin on the standard elote corn. We were too full for dessert, although I would have loved to try their carrot cake, considering they have a house pastry chef. The restaurant was busy but noise level was low with talking. It was elegant & a nice place for a date or special occasion. There was a baby grand piano but no musician to play it, they did have an automatic player on it. I’m assuming there must be live music of some days, there was a tip jar on top the piano

Ivory house was a special occasion for my wife and I. The service was lovely. The food was expertly prepared. The cost was high, but we did not feel it was unreasonable for the delivered result. We would absolutely recommend it.

We recently celebrated our 3-year anniversary with brunch at Ivory House, and it was an unforgettable experience. I ordered the Veggie Hash Cassoulet with vegan sausage, and my husband enjoyed the Cincy Hash Cassoulet. Both dishes were flavorful and beautifully presented. We also shared a side of cheese grits, which were rich and creamy. The highlight of the meal was the complimentary cinnamon rolls dish, served with a little golden candle. This thoughtful gesture added such a sweet and personal touch to our celebration. My husband is a breakfast connoisseur and not easily impressed, but he was blown away by the food and declared we would definitely be back. The piano softly playing a melody in the background enhanced the sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion. Thank you, Ivory House, for creating such a wonderful dining experience. We can’t wait to return!

We celebrated our anniversary at Ivory House last week, eager to try some unique menu items. The appetizers were a mix—beet-soaked deviled eggs missed the mark with unexpected saltiness, but the French-style mussels and lamb lollipops were excellent. We rarely find mussels done this well in Cincinnati. For entrees, I ordered the NY steak with carrots and truffle mushroom risotto, a perfect 11/10. My husband’s pork chop was nearly as good, though the creamed corn was underwhelming; however, the scalloped potatoes were amazing. One drawback was being seated beside a family with young kids, which dampened the atmosphere a bit on our kid-free evening. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to coming back!

The decor is nothing special (everything is grey with generic photography art) but the food was truly an artistic expression. You can tell the chef cooks things with care and prepares it fresh. I also noticed that they must have a baker on staff because the bread was fresh and the dessert menu was extensive and unique. Everything was plated beautifully. It felt like an elevated meal because of the way the food was prepared, butchered, plated, garnished, etc. I’ve never had a meal like that on the west side. The piano playing was beautiful. The drink selection was great. Everything looked clean and the service was attentive and professional. It is expensive, but I would consider the food to be worth it. Really beautiful, intricate, flavor bomb meals.

We went tonight for my wife’s birthday. We got the Tuesday night special. Tomahawk steak. Unfortunately ours was over done, we asked for it to be medium well and it was definitely well done except for a couple pieces in the middle. I actually would prefer them not to cut our steak so the juices don’t run out while it’s sitting. It was definitely well done so no juice was going to run out of that. The juice that you see in the photo was added on top of it after it was cut as you can obviously see. I didn’t say anything because all of our food was here and I didn’t want to wait another hour for our food to come back. I understand it takes time. I didn’t have any issue with that. I just didn’t want to wait for it to be remade and I don’t try to be one of those difficult customers. Maybe I should have asked for that not to be cut but I didn’t know they did that. It’s the only restaurant I know that actually cuts up the steak before they bring it to you. Everything else was decently good, we had the brussels sprouts and the Gouda mac & cheese. The price was high for what it was, if I’m paying that, the steak should have been to perfection. Obviously, you can see in the photo because the end of that tomahawk was completely burnt. It was definitely overcooked. It had some decent flavor though in about two pieces in the middle. We had a party of eight and everybody else’s food was cooked good. I understand things happen but for the price it should not have came out like this. The service was good. I got a side of the French onion soup to take home and it was very small for $11 and the cheese that was put on it was not even melted by the time I got home, which means the soup was not even hot when it was put into the container.

Our server was great. He was quick, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The place had live music, a guy playing piano (some classic/jazz tunes). It was great. However the food was not too good especially for the price they charge. Steak is about $70-$100, too salty (too much seasoning). The crab cake was not great either. The only thing was good was the mashed potatoes (side dish). We won't be back here for sure!
