Customer Review Summary
Lento Restaurant is highly praised for its fresh oysters and knowledgeable, friendly staff. The wine pairing dinner and rotating menu are standout features, with many guests noting the farm-to-table approach and gluten-free options. Popular menu items include duck fat fries, venison, and unique desserts like pear ginger Riesling sorbet. However, there have been mixed experiences, particularly with the main dishes, where some guests found quality and pricing disappointing. Service is generally regarded as good, though some customers faced issues with food preparation and order accuracy, leading to requests for discounts. The ambiance is cozy, making it a popular spot for date nights and special occasions. In summary, Lento offers a unique dining experience but with some inconsistencies in food execution.

Oysters are so fresh everytime and staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. Came recently for the wine pairing dinner and everything about it was incredible. Everything here is 10/10! Will definitely be back and recommended, you can't go wrong with anything here!

Great oyster deal $1 on Tuesdays. Also got duck fat fries, latkas, and a salad which was sooo good. Great service fresh ingredient. Have also gotten the duck and calamari before which was great. Can’t go wrong. Make a reservation to avoid the wait

My partner and I live in Rochester but travel everywhere, always looking for a new place to eat out at and Lento is just top tier for us; we always, always return to this gem. The rotating menu, farm to table, gluten free and dairy free options are what make this place so incredible. Every time we come here we get something different and we’ve always been over the moon with the service we’ve received. Hailey is incredible!! Above and beyond and such a joy to be served by her. We recommend this place to everyone. If you get dessert we HIGHLY recommend getting the pear ginger Riesling sorbet. It’s amazing, especially when paired with the Mandarin sorbet, we enjoyed sharing a scoop of each after our exquisite meal. Oh, and drinks are second to none.

Second time coming. First time the octopus salad was really good. This time the octopus had shrunk in size, came in pieces, increased in burntness, and came in an awkwardly sized bowl. The actual salad part was also a letdown. My husband’s beetroot salad was nothing special but good. The $1 oysters are a good deal, and we got some good ones the first round although quite a number were poorly shucked and had pieces of shell in the flesh— understandable given the demand. The real disappointment was the second order of oysters, where they switched the ones I wanted with the ones I liked the least. But it was busy & we were in a hurry so down they went. The venison we had was tender and tasty, but plum sauce and the accompaniments were not good. For dessert, the pumpkin spice creme brulee was tasty while the plum torte was ok (not enough plum) but good cinnamon ice cream. Service was generally good, our waitress was friendly and nice.

We’ve been to Lento a few times and have always enjoyed the service and food. The wait staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. The last time we went I will say the mains were a bit disappointing in terms of quality and price. The six scallops for $45 seemed a bit steep, and they were very salty. However, the rest of the meal and drinks made up for it. A very enjoyable spot for date night.

If you an oyster fan, that’s the place. Unfortunately I’m not, so I didn’t get to enjoy that. My expectations was pretty high since a friend highly recommended this place. The service was great. I’m a picky eater so I struggled on finding something for me to eat at the menu. Don’t get me wrong, they have so many options. They have pretty much all kind of meat BUT cattle. So I ended up with a salad and fries. Salad was and fries a little oily. My husband ordered the Venison Bolognese and said it was really good. I also had the crème brûlée which was regular and husband had the profiteroles. The cookies weren’t crunchy but ice cream was really good. Like I said, I’m a picky eater so you should try before jumping to conclusions from my review.

Visited Lento back in May and had a nice main with rabbit. Nice dimly lit ambience and very cozy. Only my second visit to Lento was deeply disappointing. Not my first lobster roll but first one at Lento. There was not much lobster on the roll. Tried cutting into the lobster roll and bread roll was too tough, so I requested a steak knife from the server. I saw some black crumbs and I flipped the bread over to find a completely blackened bread roll (see picture). I notified the manager and asked her if the rolls are normally this charred. She said they are grilled but this one was a quality control issue. She offered to replace the lobster roll. I needed to leave soon for my event soon so I just asked her to replace the roll lightly toasted and I would reassemble it. Someone brought another roll after 5 minute wait. The lobster roll didn’t taste like much, had little to no seasoning and chives didn’t perk it up at all. And the dry roll didn’t make it any better. Because of the light and faint flavor of the lobster and the strong taste of scorched bread, my taste buds were already tainted and everything else I ate tasted burnt. Duck fat fries were tasty, but also only filled about ¾ of the small container it arrived in. In this picture I’d only eaten about 3 fries, even though it looks half empty. Half of the fries were shorter than one-inch stumps. After I reassembled my meal, the bill came and there was no reduction for the inconvenience. I asked a server for a discount and she said the restaurant resolved the problem so no discount was needed. Later another server brought a bill with a 5% managerial discount. I asked to speak to the manager. After a 5 minute conversation, I requested 50% off the ticket and she removed 25% from the boil because the market cost of lobster was so expensive and said she hoped I’d give it another chance in the future. I’ve never had to ask staff so repeatedly for a discount for a food error or service error but looking at other reviews, I should have done my homework beforehand.

Got the gluten free fish fry tonight. That was delicious actually and you'd never know it was gluten free. The fries were soggy, they needed help but what ever is in your ketchup, that's delicious. The purple cabbage coleslaw was different, but in a good way. If the fries had been crispy I would of given 5 stars but overall the meal was good.
