About Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse - steak house in Rochester, Minnesota

Customer Review Summary

Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse offers a pleasant dining experience characterized by exceptional service and a warm atmosphere. However, some dishes, like the Queens Cut prime rib and certain seafood options, have been noted for lacking depth and flavor. While many reviews highlight the restaurant's great ambiance and well-crafted cocktails, others express disappointment in specific menu items and portion sizes. Service consistently receives high marks, with many servers being described as friendly and attentive. Though generally considered pricey, patrons feel the quality justifies the cost, making it suitable for special occasions or business meetings. A few guests encountered issues such as unwelcoming treatment when ordering off the children's menu, impacting their overall experience. On a positive note, many diners expressed eagerness to return, having enjoyed standout dishes and the atmosphere in the past.

My Fiancé and I had never had dinner at Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse before, so we decided to give it a try on New Year’s Eve! Overall, it was a lovely experience. The service was exceptional, with our server being attentive and friendly throughout the evening. The dirty Martini I ordered was well-crafted, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere. We opted for the Queens Cut prime rib, which arrived quickly — a definite plus. However, while the dish was cooked how we requested, we found the flavor of the prime rib to be a bit underwhelming. It lacked the rich seasoning or depth we were expecting. On the plus side, the horseradish served alongside the prime rib was excellent, adding a much-needed punch to the dish. Despite the lack of seasoning on the prime rib, the overall experience was enjoyable, and we’d certainly consider trying other menu options on our next visit. It’s definitely a place we’d return to for the ambiance, service, and drink selection, with the hope that other dishes may offer a bit more flavor.

Consistently great food and service. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Nice place for business, family, or a date.

Great place! Had the King's mother in law cut prime. Very tasty... A bit much on the fatty side but very good and cooked just right. Asparagus was good and the Brussel sprouts were delish. They even had a very good special cake for my birthday! Service was fantastic and friendly, parking was a bit distant.

Ordered a simple grilled cheese sandwich, cappuccino and the crème brûlée. Everything was fantastic! The cappuccino was especially good! Service was wonderful! Update: tonight I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and cappuccino. I was harassed for ordering off the children’s menu and there was concern the kitchen staff would be “mad” or there might be additional fees for ordering this sandwich. I’ve never been told this on other visits. The cappuccino was smaller than usual and not presented as well as other times I’ve been here. I ordered a single size side of broccoli and cheese and it was not thoroughly steamed and was enough to feed 4-6 people. I felt unwelcome and left without eating anything. I will never return. What a shame as I liked the food and service I had received in the past. Not tonight.

I took my youngest daughter for a girls night dinner on the 4th of July. Our host and server were both friendly and welcoming and absolutely awesome when my daughter got a bit fidgety during the meal. The kids meals are really hearty portions so we had crispy chicken strips for leftovers the next day. I had the French onion soup (lots of cheese and not overly salty) and a giant baked potato which is a meal in itself.

All looked promising, beautiful place, super nice staff, until the food arrived. The French onion soup was not heated enough and the inside was cold, the super expensive steaks were chewy and salty. The sides, which were separately charged (!!) were good. I would summarize by saying that the price is of a prestigious steak house and the food is more like a strip mall diner. I’m wondering how many people give it 5 stars, it is misleading.

I took my boyfriend for his 27th birthday last night (October 7th) and oh my goodness. Outstanding service, the food was delicious! Every bite of food we had was full of flavor and you know it’s amazing when you shake your head it’s so incredible. I 100% recommend for a special occasion. Ask for Mark as your server! He was amazing! I will be asking for him in the future whenever we decide to come back! Which hopefully will be sooner than later! I added a couple different views of the Filet ‘Oscar’ and the Mac n Cheese add Lobster

Food was a bit too salty. The Calamari appetizer was our favorite. Perfectly crunchy, it had chunks of fried lemon and pickled peppers that was a great match with the lemon sauce. Pistachio crusted walleye was kind of heavy and bland, and was hard to finish. Roasted chicken was good and flavorful, small in portions though. The kids cheese burger was good as well but the fries were too salty. My husband's Red Bull vodka was made very well and he enjoyed it. Excellent service though!
