The reviews for Grey Ghost Detroit present a mixed bag of experiences. One reviewer expressed disappointment due to being seated by a noisy area despite booking well in advance, noting high prices, limited menu options, and a lack of complimentary snacks. Conversely, many reviewers praised the restaurant for its unique and delicious food, exceptional cocktails, and warm, attentive staff. Highlights included the chef's tasting menu, seasonal events, and effective service from knowledgeable staff members. Although I made a reservation three weeks in advance, we were seated by the door and next to a drawer where staff frequently retrieved silverware—about 40+ times during our meal. This constant traffic invaded our personal space, and it might be worth considering moving the table or relocating the silverware. The bathrooms were moderately clean, and the staff was friendly and attentive for the most part. The food was good, with decent portion sizes, but I was surprised that no bread or small snacks were provided while waiting. I had always wanted to try this place, but after this experience, we’re unlikely to return. The prices felt high for the limited menu options.

Grey Ghost is nothing short of an amazing delicacy of food and drink served in both unique and delicious ways. The staff are the most beautiful warm kind people, the cocktails unique, amazing and bar none the best I have ever had. Their unique presentation of oysters is the best in the USA! Their menu is unique and will not disappoint. Asher the bar manager is just the coolest smartest wittiest and informative mixologist. I can’t say enough good- this has been my #1 dining and cocktail experience and it never disappoints and never ceases to amaze me. The aesthetics and vibe are ❤️ wonderful too! Bravo and thank you Grey Ghost.

Came with my woman for Valentine’s Day and I was my expectations were met. I’ll definitely be coming back in the near future to try more on the menu. Everything was top-notch. I usually don’t eat vegetarian but I was pleasantly surprised by how exquisite some of the dishes were.

Came in with a friend for food after a long walk in downtown Detroit. They have clearly labeled unalcoholic drinks page on the menu. We ordered the cheeseburger and the Alfredo and fries. They were very good 👍 loved everything and they were made to perfection. The service was very good! Austin was very helpful and friendly!

My husband and I love the seasonal menu events they put together. Our meal tonight was their 2024 New Year's Eve dinner. This is our second year doing this event and we are very excited for next year's. As always the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, the food was stunning, and everything was delicious.

We had a dinner reservation at Grey Ghost and were seated on time, which was a great start. Once our waiter arrived, he introduced himself, but unfortunately, I don’t remember his name. He was an African American gentleman wearing glasses. Things took a shocking turn shortly after. My friend asked him a simple question about his necklace, and he mentioned something about his religion. We responded politely, saying, “Oh, that’s cool.” Out of nowhere, he remarked, “You guys should know this, you’re Arabic,” and proceeded to say something incredibly offensive about the Catholic faith. He mocked the crucifixion and claimed, “Allah, the God of everyone, is better than that fake guy who got crucified.” We were stunned. As paying customers, we came here to enjoy dinner and drinks, not to be subjected to such inappropriate behavior. He continued making unprompted remarks about religion and politics, turning what should’ve been a pleasant experience into an uncomfortable ordeal—all within the first 10 minutes of service. I finally stopped him and politely asked for someone else to take over. He left, and we didn’t see him for over 15 minutes. I suspect he was in the kitchen trying to cover up the situation or concoct a story. We addressed this with the manager, but the response was extremely disappointing. Instead of sincerely apologizing or taking steps to address the issue properly, the manager seemed to brush it off. There was no effort to bring the waiter over to clarify the situation or to even acknowledge the seriousness of the matter. As someone with experience as a host and restaurant manager, I know how crucial it is to handle such situations with care and professionalism. While they did offer us a free round of drinks and dessert, it didn’t make up for the blatant disrespect and lack of accountability. Grey Ghost needs to take this feedback seriously. High-level management should review this incident, as this kind of behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the establishment. We didn’t come here to discuss sensitive topics like religion, and the fact that a waiter would mock someone’s beliefs is beyond inappropriate. This experience left a sour taste, and I hope changes are made to prevent future incidents like this.

My boyfriend and I visited Grey Ghost for dinner as part of my birthday celebration over the weekend and were very pleased with our experience. We put our name down for a table and were seated at the bar, but it was a busy night and we didn’t feel that our dinner was hindered at all by the seating arrangements. In fact, we found that the waitstaff and bartenders were incredibly attentive and polite! We were never left with an empty glass of water or unanswered questions. We had the bone-in pork chop and spaghetti carbonara, both of which were phenomenal. The portion sizes are good and leave you satisfied. We also indulged in a turtle bar for dessert and HIGHLY recommend ordering yourself one!
