Customer Review Summary
Selden Standard is highly praised for its phenomenal food and exceptional service. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant can get crowded. The atmosphere is upscale and elegant, ideal for special occasions. Notable dishes include the rigatoni, duck breast, vegetable sides, and various desserts like the chocolate hazelnut bar. While the food quality is high, some guests feel the portions are small for the price. Service is friendly and attentive, contributing to an overall delightful dining experience. However, there have been mentions of a rushed dining experience and a noisy atmosphere at times. Overall, it's considered a must-visit restaurant in Detroit for food enthusiasts.

I was hesitant about this place, but they won an award and I totally understand why!!! this place is absolutely phenomenal!!! I'd recommend getting a reservation because it gets packed. Dress elegantly. The food is AMAZING. The best food I've had in the Detroit metro. The beet salad was okay, but the rigatoni and duck breast...OMG. The chocolate flourless cake is delicious. Very pricey though, the portions are small and meant to be shared. The service is sophisticated, waitress was friendly. They treat you like you're a king or queen. Very upscale. If you're celebrating a special occasion, love great food or want to splurge, come to this restaurant asap. They also rotate the menu every week, so in a few months you'll probably have a completely new menu. For an up to date menu, check their website and try placing an order.

This is it. You found it. If you're reading this, find a way to get to this restaurant. Easily the best restaurant in Detroit, and dare I say my favorite. If you followed my food adventures, you know... Normally I'd do a run down of The Good The Bad and The ugly, but if you've got this far into my review just know there is not much here to complain about. The service is always unbelievable, the food is out of this world, and the atmosphere is delightful. If you're there in on a nice day, try to sit in the garden area out back. The real star of the show at this place is the vegetable sides, order them all if you can manage it. I'm not going to spoil this experience by saying anything more, just go taste the food.

The whole experience was absolutely amazing! Would highly recommend making the trip to try it for yourself. We started with the Beet Salad and Halloumi which very good. Then we had the Duck Breast as our main along with Roasted Carrots which made a great pairing. We finished with the Chocolate Hazelnut Bar and the Apple Baklava along with some decaf coffees for dessert. Highly recommend anything we ordered or anything that you would like off their menu. No doubt that they can make anything taste amazing.

Boy oh boy! It’s taken me far too long to dine at Selden, but I found it to be absolutely worth the wait. We sat at the Chef’s Counter which was hot, cozy, and bustling on a cold, busy, winter night! I now can’t imagine sitting anywhere else. Our food was dy-no-mite and we were pleased with portion sizes. I am always drawn towards vegetarian options and here, they were truly delicious. Watching the rib eye steaks as they were prepped and flamed at the counter meant that we HAD to order one, and it was one of the finest steaks we have ever sunk our teeth into. It was a little more rare than we requested but that didn’t stop us. We forgot to even drink our drinks once the food was placed in front of us… and that is a rare occurrence. Our server, Leah, was knowledgeable and efficient! We also felt the camaraderie of the team as food was delivered, utensils were replaced between courses, and settings were cleaned promptly as other guests left. Overall, a fine establishment for those who enjoy the full experience of dining out. A new Detroit favourite for me, indeed!

Finally checked this place out. Overall, we're happy we stopped in, but we're not sure we would return. The food and drinks were spot on. It's very tasty and creative. We didn't care for being rushed, which gave a little bit of an unwelcome vibe. Unfortunately, the atmosphere doesn't really match the cost to justify our datenight budget for us.

Liz was great, she made our night extra special! We tried alot of different tasty things and the best was the corn dish. Big thanks to Paul (manager) who made sure everything was fabulous. Can't wait to come back and try other things.

The food was pretty good. My only complaint was the cost. The squash cheesecake is way too small for the price. Other than that, the food was delicious. I recommend the Tagliatelle, the mixed berry sorbet, and Boylan's cane sboylan's.

Service was pretty good and friendly. Food ranged from not for us or fine. Very loud & difficult to have a conversation inside. Had the octopus, eggplant, mushrooms, branzino, beet salad, and salted caramel chocolate dessert
