Highly Recommend – Exceptional Experience! We drove up from central Indiana for a date weekend without the kids, braving snowy weather to visit, and it was absolutely worth it! Despite the challenging conditions, the staff went above and beyond. Not only did they stay open late for our reservation, but when we faced an extensive wait for our Uber due to the weather, they warmly invited us to stay inside and wait. The staff was incredibly kind and hospitable, chatting with us for about 25 minutes and even taking the time to show us around the establishment. They shared details about their outdoor seating and drinking area, which sounds amazing for summer visits. It’s not lost on me that the staff likely wanted to get out early that night, especially given the weather, but my wife and I rarely get time away without our kids. Their kindness and effort meant the world to us, and we both hope they know how much this experience mattered. My wife and I were blown away by the entire experience. The level of customer service and genuine hospitality we received was outstanding. Kudos to the entire team for making our night memorable (visited on 01/10/25). While we usually avoid revisiting the same dining spots to explore new experiences, this place is a clear exception. We will absolutely be coming back multiple times in the future!

First visit was good. We had the filet, this was very good and was tender. Gumbo was not what I expected, doesn't mean it wasn't eatable. Just not my style. Loaded tots was great as well the sausage on top was an adddes peek to the dish. Bread was on point. Had texas mules and they were strong, one was definitely enough (no complaints here). Service was good, restaurant was clean. We would go back.

Had a great lunch here. Noticed this place last year when we stopped next door at Club Soda. Seemed like it had some history behind it, and those are the type of places I enjoy dinning at. The lunch menu was quite large and the prices were fairly reasonable. Went with the gumbo as a side since they seem to be known for that. I didn't find it to be the greatest, and was surprised it had no rice in it. The waitress offered to bring me something different, but I ate it anyway, might just be me that didn't care that much for it. The pecan crusted tilapia was kinda bland unless you used the sauce provided, but was still good. My girlfriend had a cheeseburger and said it was pretty good. I'd definitely stop back again though.

Stopped in Friday night for dinner. You can tell on arrival that this place has some history. We took a seat in the back tables by the bar. The drinks were a flowing! We ordered the Texas Mule and the Swizzle Old Fashioned drink (came with bacon!). We started out with an order of the crab cakes. They were delicious! For entrees, we ordered the Jambalaya and the brisket sandwich. Both were excellent, but the Jambalaya was cooked to perfection! The service was attentive. Great experience!

Went with a group after an afternoon downtown. Have been before and it was really good but this experience wasn't quite the same. Something was a bit off for some of the flavors. I got the gumbo and petite chicken club. I loved the chicken club but didn't care for the gumbo at all. Others at the table got the bahn mi salad, Greek salad and sliders, the Philly Sandwich, and wrap. It seemed like about half of every was really good.

Don Hall’s Gas House is truly one of the top restaurants in Ft Wayne, IN. Over 40 years annd never ever been disappointed; consistent, amazing, personal and professional. How many establishments can you say that about? Every menu item is exceptionally prepared, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. If you’re local, you’re lucky. If not, don’t pass this place up, I’m telling you, it’s amazing and you’ll be recommending it to your family and friends, just as I am. Enjoy!

It's always an amazing experience. The food and drinks are on point. The staff is always amazing. But this building is absolutely gorgeous from the floors to the bathroom. The historic charm that has been maintained oh my stars. This is in our top 3 places for a date night, celebration, or taking family that flies into Fort Wayne for a nice lunch/dinner. Oh, and those spectacular loaves of bread they bring to your table you can buy those, all you have to do when you want to eat them is put butter on top, add their seasoning and warm in the oven!

I don't have the time to go rate the other steak houses lower, but if you're reading this and if I've given any others 5 stars...I was lying. Gas House is the only place I've been to that made a steak correctly. The closest any other has been, that I've been to, is Le Cellier. They got the crisp on the outside, the tenderness and the doneness, but left a TON of chewy, inedible white fat. Gas House rendered the fat so as to be so soft and good, at least on the ribeye I got. The ribeye came resting on a bed of andouille hash, topped with fried onions and with two sides. I got German potatoes and soup of the day (chili). The chili was... chili. Can you really perfect that? Some say you should never try. The potatoes, though, actually upset me a bit. I've been trying to cook German food for a while now, and these potatoes were better than every attempt I ever made at using red cabbage in any dish. My girl got jambalaya risotto, which came with a few big shrimp on top. She got sautéed mushrooms and onion rings as a side. I'm not a fan of shrimp or mushroom but can concur that whatever good things you're thinking the risotto tastes like, you're right. For dessert I tried Crème brûlée for the first time...I didn't like it, though I believe, from what I know of the dish, it was cooked properly. So I add this dish to the same category as mushrooms and shrimp. She got carrot cake, which was dense and good and, like the chili, it was carrot cake. Probably best not to get too creative. All that, a Mountain Dew, Texas Mule and Kentucky Mule (the Markers Mark was a little heavy here, but you do mostly pay for the booze after all) the bill was a hair over $100. It was worth it enough for me that I will go again and try their other dishes, even some ingredients I'd be loathe to try at other places. My only real criticism is how out of place the branches with the lights on them are. I'd say either plant those in a smaller room, so the amount of available ceiling doesn't dwarf the decoration, or just go all out. But it really doesn't fit in, regardless, as cool of an idea as it is on its own.
