Cork ‘N Cleaver

I recently visited Cork n Cleaver to celebrate a birthday. The food was good, and the restaurant was packed, which is understandable for a special occasion. However, our waitress seemed overwhelmed and a bit too militant in her approach. I realize that managing multiple tables can be challenging, especially with large groups. I asked for my check after my party had not yet received their desserts, and I was informed that it would take a while since everyone was paying separately. I ended up waiting 53 minutes for my check, which was quite frustrating. While I enjoy the food here, the service experience really makes me hesitant to return.

This restaurant is a gem! Top to bottom. The atmosphere is unique, the customer service is outstanding, and oh yeah...the food is legit! Start with the custom salad and build your fresh dream salad. Then order the crab legs, pork chip, or Tomahawk Steak! Delicious! And the 🍸 have a generous pour! I rarely give any restaurants 5 stars but the Cork and Clever deserves it. Can't wait to go back!

We were a party of seven and they took every person's order but mine and then went to walk away. My filet mignon was ordered medium rare, and it came out medium well done. No juice dripped on the plate when cutting the meat. Then they severed everyone but me a steak knife. These simple mistakes should have never happened at this type of restaurant. The overall atmosphere and quality of food did not match the cost. I do not plan to return.

The salad bar had everything you would want, and it was all fresh. All of our entrees were made perfectly, and the highlight was the prime rib. We both celebrated our anniversaries and couldn't have chosen a better place to go.

I ordered the Old Fashioned which was served with the whiskey warm, so it quickly melted the ice it was served with. Slow down a little and think about the customer experience, especially at this high price point. They are still busy though so what do I know.

Both were full of flavor and very tender. My only critique was dessert. They brought out the creme brulee, and the top was perfect, but the bottom was warm and very runny. So runny that the area you just took a spoonful from filled back in. Great flavor but disappointing texture. We mentioned this to our waitres, and she apologized, but nothing else was done about it. My wife ordered a martini and loved it. I tried the ultimate margarita with Don Julio, but it was not good at all as even though i stirred it, it was all tequila and nothing else. Overall, it was still a good experience.

The salad bar was one of the best ones I've seen in Fort Wayne in years. The steak was perfect, our server was super helpful and personable. Instead of steak I tried the almond crusted walleye... Beautiful and my leftovers led to some amazing fish tacos. The best surprise was the bill. I anticipated especially at this current chapter for the bill to be well above $100. It was well below it for all that we enjoyed. We highly recommend and we look forward to our next time!
