Customer Review Summary
Service quality is inconsistent. Some diners experienced issues with disorganization and food arriving all at once, leading to cold dishes. Others praised the excellent service and friendly atmosphere. The food, particularly the prime rib, was consistently noted as delicious. Appetizers and sides were also well-received, though one reviewer encountered a misunderstanding with their order. Overall, the restaurant offers good comfort food at reasonable prices, despite some complaints about portion sizes. Many patrons appreciate the nostalgic feel and homemade menu items, making it a favorite local spot.

The food was good. Asked for an appetizer,it came rather quickly, and then immediately followed the food So I have a table full of food meatloaf getting cold a salad to eat and a cup of chicken noodle soup,Cheese curds drinks bread all at once no room for anything between myself and my guest. I had to ask for my green beans that came as a side with my entree. The server wrote nothing down she was clearly unorganized and couldn't keep up. I don't dine out for these types of experiences,I choose to dine here because it's always hot, attentive service and spaced out,it's usually a great meal. Things were off especially the service. We all have bad days but I don't eat cold food and shouldn't have to considering I'm paying for it. The new menu is great, the portions and plating are fantastic but fell short when it all came out at once. I did take pictures though

One of the most underrated and understated restaurants in the Fort. Nothing fancy, just good food. The specialty here is prime rib, again delicious and cooked to order without any frills or expensive flourishes. Excellent service from Chelsea, who gave welcome recommendations and yet accommodated my preferences. I confess, the last time I was here was in the 1970s. And I know that is supposed to be less than flattering in this era of insisted novelty. But the food is delicious to the tastes of today, if what you are looking for is good friendly service, delicious thoughtful preparation, great flavors, and a unique neighborhood feel which disappears more all the time but is still sincerely present here. And I don't think that people get that they have the very best onion rings in town just like they have all of those years. And ask for the garlic bread, still served in their unique old fashioned style that is airy, savory, and delightfully crunchy. All of it brings back great memories while confidently providing satisfying meals today. It may be out of the way for those outside the lucky neighborhood that surrounds it, but take the time to try its honest, traditional and delicious offerings.

This place has a really good prime rib and filet. The setting is a bit dated but the food makes up for it. We had a Bloody Mary flight which was just ok but the two appetizers (Aji, tuna and bacon wrapped chicken liver) were really good. Wedge salad was fresh and french onion soup was tasty. Like I said the highlight of this evening was definitely the meat. It was most excellent and we all enjoyed our dishes. The dessert was a german chocolate cake and it was also really good.

I came into halls on E. State street, I ordered a half and half, and that consist of biscuits and gravy and hash browns, Neither the cook or waitress at the restaurant new what I wanted. They brought me out a half of a biscuit and a half cup of gravy. The Worker's ought to know what the half and half is. I walked out bed cause the waitress said I got what i ordered.

Home town restaurant with Midwestern hospitality. My favorite things about this place are; the food always comes out hot and many of the menu items are made in-house. Whenever I'm in Fort Wayne and have the time, I stop by. If you have room and like chocolate, try their chocolate cream pie. Stopping for lunch, try the Ruben or patty melt. Hungrier, try their ribs.

Just good comfort food reasonably priced and portioned or it used to be. $9.50 for a double cheeseburger. Patties so small they were easily hidden by the small bun. That's it. I'm done.

Our first time at this "Halls" we were seated right away, the server was quickly there got our drinks , brought our food very friendly very good service. The photo doesn't do it justice. The pan fried fish was very good, as well as the fries and slaw. We would definitely go back. And a tip of the hat to Katie our server she was wonderful.
