My husband and I use to come to the Hornet’s Nest several times a month for brunch and the occasional dinner. We were big supporters during the pandemic ordering out when we could. Post pandemic we loved brunches with bartender Ed. Our go to use to be the spicy sweetness (but chicken instead of burger patties) and the hot brown and Nest Benedict for brunch. The prices have gone up (which is understandable given the economy) but due to the service and quality of the food having gone down over the past 3 years, we started going less and less. Tonight might have been our last time going. Ordered online at 6:46pm on a Friday. Was given a pick up time of 7:41pm. The hour wait was understandable since we know it’s a Friday night and they are very busy on the weekends. When I got there I was promptly taken care by a young lady. Unfortunately that was the only thing pleasant about our experience tonight. Picked order up through the drive thru at 7:42. Got home to find that they had forgotten an order of fries. My Cajun catfish bites were over cooked but not crispy at all. They were so salty that I could not eat more than a few bites of them. My husband’s dinner order of gizzards was not the size we remember it being a few months ago. He said they were not cooked well. None of it was hot. All of the fried food was soggy. Overall this was a disappointing outing. We want to support local but each time just seems like our experience is worse than the last.

Arrived around 3PM on Sunday. Easy parking, quick seating and service. Ordered Fried green tomatoes. They were delicious. French dip and the West Coast Animal burger (added bacon) for entrees. The fries are unique, fat, and amazing. I wish more places had fries like these. The burger very juicy,( not greasy). French dip was juicy and flavorful. The Au Jus brings out the flavors of the seasonings. Dessert was Lemon Berry Cream cake and Banana Butterscotch bread pudding. Both are sized for sharing and a nice sweet finish to the meal. Just under $64 for 2 drinks, appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts and 2 stuffed full bellies. Definitely recommend stopping here if you happen to be in this beautiful little town.

My husband and I had a reservation and when we arrived they sit us in the bar area; at a dirty table. It was dark and loud and we asked to be moved to the dinning room area. We waited for awhile for our order to be taken. We ordered an appetizer and it took a long time and when we asked about it, it was brought right out. I ordered a NY strip with salad and baked potato and my husband ordered chicken Alfredo and baked potato. The salad consisted of lettuce, tomato and cucumber. They brought out my steak and his pasta and told us they were out of baked potatoes, so we ordered mashed potatoes and they were instant gross potatoes. My husbands pasta was cold. We paid over $80 and spent an hour and half there. Sadly this will be our first and last time there.

Very sad to see the quality and service here has gone so down hill. We grew up here, now in town ..was so overly excited to come and now sad we didn't pick another place. Sad the buffet gone. SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. Took awhile before server came over. Ok, she was being shadowed so we understood. We ordered and it took over an HOUR to get our food. Multiple tables came in after and were served before us...including a large table. Server seemed less than concerned when we brought it to her attention. We got a quick robotic.."oh, sorry, I'll have it discounted" then never came back to check on us. My sons dish was specifically requested that gravy be on the side and it came w gravy all over it but she never came to ask if the food was ok. Just sad..no need to waste our time coming back anymore when in town. Sad to see a hometown staple just being the average place to grab a bite. Just don't come hungry if you expect timely service.

The Hornet's Nest was as good as I remember last having it, if not better! The prime rib was delicious as well as the shrimp skewers. The desserts were amazing as well. The lemon berry cake was incredible. The only drawback was that it took the bar a little longer than usual for getting our drinks. Other than that it was a fantastic experience. We'll be back.

Catfish was very good. Sides were marginal. Mac and cheese was okay. Baked beans were dry. I would have preferred slaw or a salad. They would have given that but I didn't think to adjust until after the fact

We had a great experience here. Quick seating for our ten person party. The staff was friendly even though it was obviously a very busy night. Some of our dishes were on the warm side rather than hot, which is understandable when timing out ten orders to come out together.

Our party of 4 had the Hot Brown (photographed), the Beef Manhattan (photographed), chicken Alfredo, and mini burgers. Every single dish was loved and would be ordered again! The Hot Brown, in particular, was fabulous!
