My husband and I really enjoyed Schymik’s Kitchen. We were seated at the time of our reservation, our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful, the atmosphere was great and the wine/bourbon selection was great for the menu they offered. We really enjoyed the food. It was definitely a treat to be here and enjoy this restaurant for the first time.

We stopped in Evansville as a halfway point in our road trip home for the holidays and searched for a nice dinner near our Airbnb. We were blown away by this place, now under the name "Belly of the Wolf". Plates are served tapas style, and everything was incredible. We had mixed greens grown locally dressed with vinaigrette, tomatoes, grated cheese and sort of confetti-like bacon that wasn't overpowering. Next we had seared scallops and oyster mushrooms in a potato truffle pure. What?! Seriously delicious! Last, we shared the Steak Fries... the flavor was incredible, and the steak cooked perfectly. They also have an extensive wine menu and full bar. Our whole experience was so unexpected, super chill wait staff, hosts and new chef that were incredibly skilled, yet down to earth. A dinner experience we'll often remember!

I was advised to go to this restaurant for the shellfish and grit and I was not disappointed. Everything exceeded the expectations. The shellfish and grit paired with the Chardonnay were very delicious. We couldn’t resist the bourbon cheesecake either and caramel topping made it a perfect topping for our nice dinner. The hosting lady was so kind and attentive that we felt pampered by the service. And the fact that the check comes with a different book each time is a special treat for book lovers like myself.

I’m 54 European so I know my food, best steak and eggs Ive ever had. 5 starts but after I got the bill had to drop it to 4, inflation fee 3% just add that to the price, that’s not an honest move.

Visited Schymik’s for brunch while I was in town for the holidays and I was incredibly impressed. They don’t offer an overwhelming selection, but instead take more basic dishes and make creative twists that are both beautiful and delicious creations, and made with fine ingredients. You can tell they have high standards of quality and the staff has talent and passion for what they do. It’s in the little details like this house made chive cream cheese and fresh spices... We really enjoyed the smoked salmon and bagels. Also, they offer a unique and untapped experience in Evansville - ticketed private meals, with fixed menus and a more intimate experience. I will be back to try one of those, but I highly recommended this spot and am glad to see Evansville with ideas like this. Our server/the manager, Herbert, was very pleasant and accommodating as well!

Great food choices - balancing Evansville tastes with creative cooking - and good drinks. The barely there sides were amazing. They're missing hot beverages and lack consistency and identity. (When you can tell they lack consistency on one visit - they lack consistency) I don't understand whether they're called The Belly of the Wolf or whether they're trying to be fine dining or fine casual. I know nothing about this place. I found them as Shymik's on Yelp and went in. I've been to Micheline Star restaurants and this has that potential - it helps business but I wouldn't wish that level of work on anyone who doesn't want it. The good: The server (and her quiet baby) was delightful. Attentive service, nice space (good bones - needs soul) Great Wine List, Excellent Menu Choices. Finally a great menu in Evansville! The recommended hen was one of the most delicious pieces of roasted chicken I've ever had; a perfectly seasoned crispy skin and juicy meat. These people can make some food! - The carrots and a parsnip puree sides on that plate were amazing. I could have a plate of only those remarkable sides. There are menu options that allow diners to get away with a $30 night out or splurge on a $200. meal experience. The Not So Good: No coffees. The dressing on the greens was too assertive - a rookie mistake that's probably not the usual. The servings of the delicious food were subjectively a tad slight. 1 overpriced tiny dessert, a creme brulee - delicious as it was. This is the only stop I've ever made in Evansville where I felt the offerings justified the pricing. I have found in general that elevated casual dining in Evansville (which is uninspired at other places in town) costs more than comparible towns like Chattanooga and Louisville. The space is nice but feels a little soulless. Could have been due the dreary Evansville night. It needs ... something to give it soul. An improved entrance setup and overall softening for sure. I could have gone without hearing someone being reprimanded - or being told "oh sh*t my bad" by an employee - I couldn't tell you if that is Evansville typical or not. I'm not that sensitive about it and wouldn't care at Mo's or Bokeh's.

This place is 11/10 on every item we tried, very reasonable for everything we tried and a bottle of wine. The truffle whipped potatoes are absolutely to die for we had to order a second plate. We also got the Brussels sprouts, chicken, and steak frites and everything was amazing. Can’t wait to go back!

Top notch restaurant! We were happily greeted and seated. Service was professional and food came out quickly. We got a little bit of everything from the soup du jour, seafood pot pie and pork chop. I saw a cheesecake go by so I had to order on myself and I’m glad i did! There’s was a caramel or dulce de leche shell on top - so good! Our 8 and 5 year old gobbled everything up as well.
