About ML Steak Modern Chophouse - steak house in Richmond, Virginia
Customer Review Summary
ML Steak Modern Chophouse has received mixed reviews. Several diners noted that reservations are necessary, and some experienced delays in service, such as not receiving refills or having to request their check. The atmosphere is described as upscale yet somewhat misleading, as the interior features bar stools and painted walls. Food quality has received praise, particularly the sirloin and cauliflower appetizer, with some patrons appreciating the strong drinks and attentive staff. However, some reviews mention discomfort due to tight seating arrangements, which detracted from the dining experience. The prices are considered overpriced by some, especially relative to portion sizes and the overall ambiance. Despite these issues, a few diners found the experience exceptional, citing new management and improved service. Happy hour offerings were noted as good, but some found the bartenders lacking knowledge about certain cocktails.

First time having the opportunity to experience ML Steakhouse. Seems like it's a requirement to have reservations in order to have the manager escort you to your table. The waiter was knowledgeable of the menu, food came out in a reasonable time. Waiter failed to check on us for refills. Then we had to wait & request for our check from the water boy. Atmosphere seem more of an upscale appearance from the outside, until you enter & see bar stools & painted brick walls. Finally the prices were truly overrated for the amount of food we received. One & done. Ruth Chris for now on or Red Robin

We went here on Valentine’s Day 2025 at 4pm. Now walking in this place looks like a high class Tropical smoothie, I definitely expected a different vibe. Seating was very limited so everyone sat close together which took the romance out of dinner because we were directly beside other couples. We were sat at a table. Nonetheless customer service and the food were AMAZING. My drink was strong and delicious I got the strawberry titorita. I also got the king cut sirloin and Mac n cheese which were cooked to perfection. The button on top of the steak is to die for and perfect executed. However we couldn’t throughly enjoy our meal due to the tight seating it made it very uncomfortable. If this place had better seating it would’ve been worth every penny. We spent $172, 20% gratuity is included

I see some not so great reviews but it's my understanding that there under new management,Colter must have gotten things in order. We went yesterday and the place was very nice, very clean and everything we ate was AMAZING. Colter was on top of everything and super friendly and offered great recommendations. We have had Ruth Chris, Flemings and alot of other higher end steak houses and hands down this was the best we had and a bit cheaper then the others. Its not a roadhouse or longhorn these are a more budget friendly places. But ML is a great place to go for a special night or occasion. Will 100% be our new go to for steaks.

I had the pleasure of dining at ML Steakhouse in Midlothian for Father’s Day, courtesy of my wife, and it was an exceptional experience. The mimosa I had was refreshing and perfectly mixed. The salmon cakes and eggs were outstanding, with a perfect blend of flavors and textures. My wife enjoyed some pancakes, which she found to be very good as well. The service was impressively fast, and the atmosphere was inviting. The decor is upscale chic with a modern steel aesthetic, but it manages to strike a balance that isn’t overly upscale. Overall, ML Steakhouse provided a delightful dining experience that made my Father’s Day special. Highly recommended!

La'Fire was amazing and very informative about the restaurant's food. We tried the chicken sandwich, and everything was fresh and delicious. The ranch was my favorite very fresh. My wife usually doesn't like truffle fries, but she loved every one of them. Sweet Tarts nice finger licking good. She also mentioned that they have rooftop events every Wednesday. But Be sure to call the restaurant for more information. They are cashless restaurants.

Service was nice. Although there was no greeter at the door. Food extremely overpriced for the quality and the nonexistent ambience. The inside is not upscale…yall didnt even bother changing out the yellow stools from when this was Casa Del Barco. A mexican restaurant, that sells $5 tacos on Tuesday. Started with appetizers I did try the pork wings and the cauliflower. You get 3 pork wings on a plate for $20…….both appetizers were good! Two of us ordered a medium steak $55 each. At a “steakhouse” why would they both come out well done? And underseasoned? And why are they red on the outside? Are we basting the steaks in myoglobin? Long story short, I forgot about $45 worth of my left overs. An unfortunate situation for my dog because I didn’t bother turning around for it. Ive heard great things about the broad st location though!! And LOVE lillie pearl. Not sure whats going on here.

We only went for happy hour and they had some good deals. The place is a lovely space. We were disturbed that the bartender did not know what a dark and stormy was they had some great deals on the happy hour menu and had some unique twist on the items, happy hour ends at 6 PM. We did not stay for dinner. We liked the Asian flower and the fried chicken bao. we did not like the tuna and they did take it off our bill.
