This is an old review and is based on before they closed during pandemic/renovation. Found some photos so I decided to write this review anyway. Cost of buffet is on the high range but what you're paying for here is the view. I've dine here several times but there's nothing spectacular in this restaurant. Poor ambience, dated interior, food is comparable to Chuck-a-rama in terms of taste but in an upgraded presentation, service I guess is ok and you have a live piano playing in the background while dining. Other than that, not worth the trip. I do hope though that they will make some great or grand improvements when they reopen to make it worthwhile.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service, and great people. My wife and I came here for our anniversary and we received excellent service. The food was great. Make sure that you save some room for desserts because those may have been the highlight the cream Brulé was amazing.

This place is 🔥🔥🔥 It’s soooo good! The service was lovely, they bring by rolls that are killer. They have a pianist that’s playing tunes at all times and it’s just a great experience. A beautiful view of the Salt Lake Temple and one side the capital. The food was exquisite. It’s a buffet and wow, ain’t never been to a buffet like that before. Honestly, this was probably my favorite dining out experience ever.

A gorgeous view of the entire Temple Square! Their hot chocolate is definitely a refreshing drink to start with! Roasted beef is succulent although the dessert is just a little bit too sweet. Considering also their phenomenal service from table assignment throughout check out, the Roof Restaurant certainly offers one of the best buffets in the country. Please do not forget the receipt in an exchange of complimentary parking in the City Creek underground parking!

If you are looking for a meal with great view and quality buffet and service, here is the place to go. I read some of the review here complain about the price and felt like those are not valid point to use to give this place a bad rating. Here is why: 1) you know the price before you are going. It's not like the roof forces/ traps you to go there 2) you are paying for the view! Just like buying a house, the house with a great view obviously has a premium to the price tag. The same logic applies to the restaurant price. 3) you are paying for the variety. If you going to another restaurant with the same dollar sign rating, the same price you pay only covers your entrée, and of course, that one dish has to have a stellar taste. In contrast, the roof buffet provides you with variety of dishes from appetizer, antipasto, entrée ( including table servicing style cut as you command), and so many good deserts. To be fair, the qualify if the food definitely outweighs the price you pay. 4) their good service and amazing live piano music alone should deserve a good rating. Bottomline, check out this place if you want a casual date night with an amazing view of the city!

This is a classy restaurant with gorgeous views of Salt Lake City‘s Temple Square. It is a buffet extraordinaire! This night there was prime rib and King crab claws and vegetables and other entrées and sides with fancy ingredients including a gourmet mac & cheese. The decadent desserts were presented in small portions so that you could sample several of them.

We went as a family to The Roof. There were 3 things that stood out. 1. The view is amazing. Especially at night, you get a beautiful view of the nearby Temple square and the expanse of the city lights. 2. They have a live pianist who was playing beautiful music the entire night. She is very talented. 3. Many different choices of food. They had a salad bar, entree options, shrimp, crab legs, a fruit bar, and a dessert bar. It was pretty busy and it was kind of a let down that some guest brought their kids in pajamas who were running around and screaming. That is not the restaurants fault though. That is on the parents. The service was quick and attentive. Our waiter was constantly refilling our drinks without us asking and the bread rolls with honey butter were an amazing way to start off the dinner. The only real downside is that a lot of the food was not exactly on par with what I would expect for the price. I would expect a little higher quality. A lot of the food was dry, and the lettuce in the salad bar was wilted.
