Log Haven is frequently listed as a top restaurant to visit for fine dining in Salt Lake City. To keep this brief, I will give the restaurant 5 stars on ambiance and that it as a great location to visit with your significant other or other party members. The food, I'm listing at 2 stars due to cost vs. taste. We ordered the salmon, which came out luke warm. We also ordered the chicken which Looked promising but was rather bland. Service was fine, but not as high end as i would have expected for a place that is rated #1 in trip advisor and other locations. I'd come back with the right people cause they want the environment it creates, but that's about it.

Went with friends for my birthday. It's always a special experience. The wait staff is so kind, the food devine, the ambiance unbeatable. We chose to eat outside, but they gave us blankets because it got a little chilly after the sun went down. It was just lovely as always. I tried to go at least once a year. We ordered the fish and meat dish, the cauliflower appetizer the crab cakes. We got all the desserts on the menu and my favorite was the bread pudding. So many amazing flavors in every single bite. No wonder they've been nominated for the James Beard award this year.

It was a very romantic and picturesque dining experience. The view was great, the style and design of the restaurant was unique and a great way to embrace the history of the location. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed each course.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Celebrated my birthday here and it is five stars. Don’t forget to checkout the waterfall across the way by the creek on your way in or out. So pretty. Johnny took care of us and the service was exceptional. First off it’s so cozy and warm love the fireplace. The atmosphere is very romantic and rustic. We tried the warm butter beer which teleported us to Hogwarts nice cinnamon flavor. Had bread and tuna tartare as an app both great. Had the Elk steak and the Filet for entree. The elk steak had the most amazing raspberry sauce I was even dipping my steak in it. Had the chocolate tart for dessert didn’t love the crust texture but the chocolate inside was great. Had 6 dishes and two cocktails spent $200 for two. I see why this restaurant has so many accolades.

hot honey fried quail: Not my favorite. Some part didn't seem to be all the way cooked! All seasoning was lacking to my taste. seared elk strip loin: My wife liked it. Me? not that much. The overall flavor profile was a bit on the sweet side, not enough contrasting flavor with the protein. Lacking seasoning again for my taste. Meat was cooked well and I liked the fun texture of the almond cake(crispy on the outside, soft inside). Adobo grilled chicken: Good balance of flavor but very subtle. Lacks personality. I personally like more punch of flavor, more seasoning (I don't mean salt). ricotta dolce brioche bread pudding: pleasant. The almond creme anglaise provided a nice contrast with the bread pudding. It was a pleasant dinner on a snowy evening with a cozy atmosphere.

The atmosphere was amazing but the food was honestly pretty bad. The elk steak smelled kind of bad. It didn't seem like the blood was drained properly (and cooking it medium rare did not disguise the smell at all). The tuna was the best out of it all, but the actual tuna was not seasoned at all inside, just the outside. When they cook Tuna in Japan, they soak it in Dashi water so the meat still has flavor before you do anything with it, but this restaurant just deep fried it and poured sauce on top. The pork chop was good, but we found a blonde strand of hair in it. The service was not great. We made a reservation, but still had to wait 20 min to get seated when we arrived. The food took 1 .5 hours to come out after ordering.

Must visit. Seriously just book your reservation then read this… This place is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Starting with the staff, she was extremely kind, welcoming and the way she described the dishes we were sold right away. The bread with the truffle butter - out of this world. I actually asked if they had a tub of butter for sale 🙃 they don’t. We had the elk and the bison - 😮‍💨 never tasted anything like it. We had their wine log haven, it was a blend and it was exquisite! The elk had a blackberry sauce with something similar to polenta cakes with goat cheese - explosion of flavors! This is a culinary experience! Incredible!!!!! The bison had this delicious sauce with green peppercorn that gave it just the right spice. It’s served with Brussels sprouts that are marinated in balsamic vinegar and served with candied bacon. I hate Brussels sprouts and I scarfed these down - so so good!! It also comes with fingerling potatoes with truffle aioli drizzle. And it was delicious!! Lastly, we had the maple crème brûlée - hm hm hmmmmmm - I love crème brûlée, it’s the one dessert I try every where I go. This was FANTASTIC!!! Whoever thought of make this with crème brûlée - CHEFS KISS!!!!! To top it all off, the ambience of this place is just incredible. We sat outside by the waterfall and it was such a beautiful evening. If you prefer to dine inside it’s also such a cozy yet beautiful place! Like I told the host Ian, I’d give this place 10000 stars if I could!!! So so so good! TBH it’s the best restaurant and food we’ve had in Utah our entire visit!! Oh also - they have COMPLEMENTARY VALET! Plus plus plus

Had a great experience for our 25th Anniversary dinner. Our server Juan made great recommendations and was very attentive, well trained, and was perfectly friendly. I ordered the bison steak and my wife had the filet; both were excellent. This is a place we'd strongly recommend and one that we'll return to again. We had a great night!
