Takashi is highly praised for its sushi, with many reviewers calling it some of the best in Utah. The atmosphere is fun and energetic, making it a great spot for gatherings or special occasions. Popular rolls include Black Magic Woman, Strawberry Fields, and The Little Mermaid, which are noted for their fresh ingredients and great flavors. Service is often highlighted as exceptional, with staff attentive and helpful, particularly a waitress named Emily. Some guests mention issues with wait times and service from certain staff members, suggesting that arriving early is important due to long lines. We wanted sushi and heard this was the best place. It's a fun location with a cool vibe. We had three rolls, Black Magic Woman, Strawberry Fields and Ramon. I liked them best in that order. Ramon I would not order again, it was just kind of bland, but the other two rolls were great!

Unbelievably superb! My only complaint? I can’t come here every single day. Everything about this place is exceptional. The only thing on the menu you won’t like is… well, nothing—if you know what I mean. Service? Once again, unbelievably superb. Emily was our waitress, and we rolled in eight deep—yet she didn’t miss a single beat, down to the toothpicks. The communication amongst the staff was on another level. You can tell when a place is well-run, and this is a perfect example. When I made a request from my waitress, it didn’t get lost in translation. Instead of playing the usual game of “Who ordered this?” my request came straight to me. From a third party. Wow. Superb in every way. Bring your friends for a very nice dinner out! A parent's birthday or any other occasion will be special. Don't forget to ask for Emily@

This place is really good. I went last night I had three appetizers, the gyoza, the fried chicken and the pork belly. I also had the glass noodles salad which was great too (a bit too lemony however). For the main course, I had the "Ridiculously Tender Steak Flank" which was really good. For dessert I had the 'Chocolate Rum Torte' with the strawberry gelato, it was so good. Will go again. I showed at 4:30 when they opened at 5 and was the first person in line. You should show up around 30 minutes before opening if you want a spot.

Honestly, some of the best sushi I've ever had. They had so many different rolls to choose from and me and my friend loved all the ones we ordered. Our favorite was The Little Mermaid which had tuna and scallop in it along with a wasabi tobiko. Texture was spectacular. The gyoza as an appetizer was 10/10 too. The other rolls we got were the Yellow Submarine, a Philly roll, and the Tiger's Roll. Important note: we came at 5:50 and the line was already an hour and a half so PLEASE do come right when they open at 5:30 or if you're able to make a reservation (they only do it for parties of 5 or higher), then definitely do so.

The sushi here fell far below expectations and I believe you would find better sushi in a 7-11 in Japan than here. If you’ve ever had authentic sushi, you might find the quality here disappointing. After hearing multiple recommendations that this is the best sushi in Utah, I was surprised and let down. While I understand that sushi here is often Americanized, the flavors (mixing Thai or Mexican) and execution didn’t come together in a good way. The service was also a mixed experience. The hostess, a short blonde-haired woman named Carrey, came across as dismissive and rude, which was frustrating. Based on other reviews, it seems this has been an issue for other customers as well. Despite arriving early, being first in line, and waiting patiently, we were not seated for over an hour and a half, while other groups who arrived later were seated ahead of us. This felt unfair and left a poor impression. Another aspect that stood out was that all the sushi chefs were non-Japanese, which felt unusual for a restaurant presenting itself as a Japanese sushi establishment. While this may cater to a specific audience, it did leave the experience feeling less authentic than anticipated. If you still want to try, the Hamachi Gunkan and the Summit were decent options. However, the portion sizes were small, and the overall service was slow. The bright spot of the evening was our server, who was lovely, helpful, and attentive throughout. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it to those looking for an authentic sushi experience or consistent service.

My husband found Takashi and let me say… what a gem! We went 2x during my 10 day vacation in SLC. Such great quality, freshness and amazing chefs. Rivalring with top restaurants we have been in many places. They have a strong regular selection as well as specials — we ate things from both and nothing disappointed. We were taken care by Zack, Mike and Bryce (remember, 2 visits!) who took time to understand what we liked and offered curated suggestions.

Put your name on waitlist early. Best to sit at the sushi bar, you can order pieces directly from the sushi chef in front of you. Start with a couple pieces of nigiri—don’t do the salmon, try something else. Talk with your sushi chef—ask for their recommendations. Keep the nigiri coming—you can try a maki if you want, the nori did taste good. But the fish is the star of the show here. Keep trying the different types, really focus on the unique flavors and textures of each one. If you want, lightly dip into soy sauce, fish-side. Then place the whole piece, fish-side down, directly on the tongue and begin chewing and tasting. You can have around 8 pieces of nigiri this way, leaving you quite content. My sushi chef here was excellent, and once I had told him which pieces were my favorite he began recommending different things to try which would suit my tastes. All told, one of my most memorable and delectable dining experiences yet.

This is some of the best sushi in Utah. If you are looking for more raw fish than rolls, this is the place. With no reservations, it’s important to know that waiting outside before is open is key to getting all the great food. I really enjoyed my visit here and look forward to a second trip! Edit: Tried lots more the second time. Very good sushi and small plates. The chicken teriyaki is also really good.
