About Osteria Amore - steak house in Salt Lake City, Utah

Contemporary mains & a sizable wine list in a neighborhood Italian restaurant with outdoor seating.

Customer Review Summary

Osteria Amore offers a varied Italian dining experience with some highlights and areas for improvement. Homemade pasta is a standout feature, but some dishes lacked the desired flavor, and cocktails were sweet. The ambiance is beautiful, making it suitable for special occasions, though some found it not worth the price. Many customers noted an authentic Italian taste, with dishes like the signature pasta and pizza impressing, invoking memories of Italy. Service is generally praised, with specific servers being exceptional, though there were complaints about cramped seating and noise levels. Some dishes, like prosciutto and melon, were criticized for being average, particularly out of season, and panna cotta was deemed lackluster. While there is a need for vegan options, diners enjoyed customization of dishes. Overall, Osteria Amore is seen as a fantastic addition to Salt Lake City’s dining scene, maintaining a luxurious atmosphere and offering excellent food.

Overall a good Italian restaurant. I appreciate the home made pasta but nothing really stood out. Calamari portion was nice and well fried but there was not enough sauce for all the pieces. Tomato pasta was said to have pepper but had no spice before adding extra on top. We had 3 cocktails, all were pretty sweet without much boozy taste even after requesting a punchy option (might just be the bartenders style). The restaurant is gorgeous and a beautiful place to go for a special occasion. Just not worth the price tag personally.

Tasted like we were back in Italy. There’s a reason Osteria Amore is so hard to get into. Our first visit here was fantastic, eating dinner as a family before going to a Christmas performance. Lots of exclamations about the pasta and pizza tasting like such and such a place in Florence or Rome. The service was amazing too. The signature pasta dish (Osteria Amore) was fantastic, the lasagne made from the bolognese is delicious because it’s piping hot and sitting in a bath of sauce, and the Casa Pizza had everyone reminded of eating at Ciro and Sons in Florence. The beets and buffalo were perfect too. Bravo. Easily the best Italian we’ve had in Utah (sorry Valter’s and Cucina Toscana). Thanks for offering gluten free pasta. Two areas of improvement: 1- the prosciutto and melon shouldn’t really be offered in an off season for melon. Very average melon. 2- the panna cotta was good, but really pretty average. This should sing as the standout on the dessert menu. Overall, fantastic addition to SLC’s growing dining scene.

Came from San Diego to ski for the weekend and this was our first dinner out in Salt Lake City. Alan was an incredible server, provided phenomenal service, recommendations and set the whole tone for the evening. Not to mention the food was absolutely to die for. Eaten at a lot of Italian spots but this place is truly something special. Will be coming back immediately upon my return to Salt Lake City.

The food was fantastic through all courses. Really loved the bruschetta with the Mortadella and Burrata. The one thing that takes it down a notch for me is the cramped quarters in there. The space is kind of small, so they pack in the tables and it gets quite noisy and hard to maneuver in there when it is near full capacity.

We arrived at 7pm for our reservation, and were seated around 15 minutes later. We got our food about 1 hour later. The place was bustling, and had a nice ambiance. There are no vegan options marked on the menu, however the waitress talked to the chef and they were able to make customizations. I had a veggie pizza without the cheese and my partner had Pappardelle Contadina without the cheese. Both dishes were tasty. The pizza dough tasted home made (which it is made fresh at the restaurant). I hope they can add vegan options to their menu

This is the perfect place to feel fancy and not break the bank. The atmosphere is so luxurious. We sat in the section of the restaurant that felt like a wine cellar and it was so magical to eat there. Everything on the menu looked delicious and I can’t wait to come and celebrate everything here!

Excellent food! The steak was amazing and the prosciutto melon app was excellent. Would have been five stars but out reservation was an hour late. The host was great and did what the could to move along the slower tables in front of us

Perfect pasta potions expertly al dente with the right amount of European wait time before the next course. Went on Valentine's Day and ordered the Cacio E Pepe, Ravioli pere e gorgonzola, prosciutto e melone, and a bottle of 2019 alois lageder...they were out of 19' so got the 22'. The wine was crisp, elegant, and sophisticated...quite nice. The pasta portion small but rich in flavor and balance. As everything is made fresh we waited roughly 30 minutes for the next prosciutto e melone, which allowed time for the previous dish to digest and ingest quality conversation before the next. The melone was fresh and absolutely stood out. My only reservation is the hostess has the daunting task of being the first impression of the restaurant and this evening was one of bewilderment and antipathy as the hostess was unable to find my reservation and rather than be a gracious hostess elected to eagerly get us out of way in an effort to seat us at the bar. Instead I sought solutions by asking for the names of those with my reservation time, followed by looking by number, and finally last name...it was under my last name alone for some reason. It was fortuitous for the hostess the reservation was found as if seated at the bar, I would have never come back. Appearance is not everything when it comes to hosting. I didn't add many photos as I was unsure if I wanted to post this experience.
