Customer Review Summary
The reviews for Market Street Grill Downtown offer a mix of experiences. Many diners praised the clam chowder and some seafood dishes as highlights, with specific mentions of the fettuccine and ahi tuna starter as flavorful. However, reviews also pointed out issues with seafood quality, including overcooked lobster and thick clam chowder, which left some disappointed. Service experiences varied, with positive mentions of attentive servers, but a few noted lapses in service toward the meal's end. One review highlighted a concerning incident with a parasite in calamari, raising food safety concerns. Overall, while there are standout dishes and good service, consistency in food quality seems to be a recurring theme among reviews.

This dish is truly amazing. The fettuccine was cooked to perfection and sauce was absolutely delicious. Could have used some more garlic bread which was the bomb. Cody was our server and he was great. The clam chowder is truly the star of the show.

Is it me or does food, in general, not taste as good as it once did? Either way, this location served up some good food. Not 5 stars but I'd say a solid 4 for sure. Not too much else to add to this review actually. If you're in the area and have the time, Market Street is a restaurant to add to your list of would eat there again restaurants.

I was quite disappointed in the quality of the seafood served during our dinner. The clam chowder tasted good but was a very thick "porridge". I ordered the Lobster & king crab dinner and could not believe how overcooked and tasteless the Lobster was! It was very rubbery, and the melted "butter" had no taste at all - it was a tasteless oil. The crab was not much better, and had the "butter" been of better quality, might have been pretty decent. The servings looked very appealing, but I definitely won't spend that much money for such low quality again.

The ahi tuna starter and clam chowder were standout dishes, full of flavor. Unfortunately, the other entrées didn't live up to the same standard, especially considering their price point.

As a person born and raised in the south and right on the coast, I was extremely surprised to come across good seafood in Salt Lake City. Although this was not my first time in Utah, this was my first visit to this particular city. My date and I ordered raw oysters as an appetizer. I am a huge oyster lover so I was excited about this. If I can remember correctly, I believe the waiter told us that the oysters were from California and Virginia. Both were delicious, but I personally preferred the ones from Virginia. For my entree, I had a meal that was not on the menu and was only offered for a limited time. It was grilled scallops and shrimp in a lemon butter sauce, which came with a side of grilled asparagus and seasoned rice. It also came with my choice of salad. I chose the Caesar. To my surprise, everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. My date had the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna, which came with grilled pineapple, seasoned rice, and mixed veggies. He also chose a bowl of clam chowder. He said my food tasted better than his. He wasn't really a huge fan of what he ordered, and he wished that he would have ordered what I got instead. This is why I didn't give this experience 5 stars. Our server was nice and helpful, but toward the end, I'm not sure if he went on break or what, but he stopped coming to check on us. After waiting some time, my date walked up to the counter just to have someone else come to our table to assist us. We saw our original waiter again before we left, so he was definitely still there. Not sure what that was about. Unfortunately, I can't provide any details regarding the costs, as my date handled the bill. As we exited, I realized that the restaurant has two sides. The other side is an oyster market. The next time I'm in Salt Lake, I will definitely check that out as well. Overall, this was a good experience, and I will return.

Just had an amazing time at the Downtown Grill location. I went with my coworkers and we were a large group of 15. We were accommodated so well, and the staff was very patient with us with figuring out seating, and with ordering so much food. Particularly, Casey did an INCREDIBLE job as our server. We ordered so much food and drink and she was on top of everything! She was so kind, and was very willing to help us understand the menu. This is one of my favorite restaurants and a favorite of my team to come here for work dinners. Thanks Market Street, and thanks Casey!

Don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my wife bit into a calamari and there was a parasite in it. It wasn’t small, and you’ve gotta wonder how they didn’t spot it in the kitchen and clean the food while preparing it. Who knows how many people have unwittingly eaten something like that at this restaurant, and what else is slipping by the cooks.

Quick stop for some oysters and crabcakes, really fresh and tasty. Great server, good atmosphere, would recommend!
