Taboo Restaurant

Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. I wish I could remember my servers name, because he was amazing, but every staff member in this establishment was kind to us. We went for my birthday and I got a free entrée from a select menu, and a free scoop of ice cream. I took a reccomendation from our server for my drink choice, and it was so delicious too. It's a bit pricer than most restaurants in Odessa, but honestly you get what you pay for, and that was well worth it. Can't wait to come to town again and enjoy that delicious buffalo cauliflower again.

Great service, waiting staff is present and very attentive. Water never went empty, beer came quickly. Food was fresh, modern, and quick. The sushi is amazing! Garlic Salmon and Creamy Mushroom and Shrimp were amaaaazing. Atmosphere is beautiful and welcoming!! Definitely coming back no doubt!

So far this is the best place I've eaten in Midland. I had the taboo shrimp as one of my appetizers and that was very good. Chips and salsa was ok, nothing too special w that. The main dish I had, the Omaha steak, was perfectly cooked. The waitress, Chrystal M., did an excellent job w the presentation, cutting the steak open to show that it was cooked to my liking. I had the toffee cake for dessert and that was the perfect end to an almost perfect meal.

I would highly recommend for a date night, girls, night, or even if you just wanna come alone and read your book.

The Buba roll ... Donut meets sushi. My photo isn't great, but I recommend this as an entree or a starter. Hands down, amazing. Birria quesadilla is also worth a taste. If you are into overly greasy foods. It's a birria it's gonna be greasy. 7th time dining in for lunch or dinner. Haven't experienced poor service.

The only thing I would change is the music is a touch loud for the atmosphere but may not be as noticeable on a busy night.

11/22/24: Had a date to a dress up event where we would be going in nice dress and a suit with tie so wanted to go somewhere nice. I remembered my previous experience at Taboo. Decided to review the menu and saw that it was different and read many recent less than favorable reviews regarding the renovation, closing without notice, sports bar atmosphere, etc so decided to go check it out early. Went at 3:00 in the afternoon, there were three employees at the checkout desk. I asked if I would need a reservation for a 6:00 arrival. They assured me that would be great and that I would enjoy my experience. Arrived with my date at 5:55 and was asked if I had a reservation!!! 2 of the 3 girls I had spoken with were still at the desk and said nothing. We were told only bar high tables were available. Even the manager came out and could not help us. Terribly disappointing. I guess the reviews that describe the “new” Taboo as an overpriced sports bar is correct. We left. Went next door to Flare Taverna and had a wonderful experience with Dee taking care of us. 7/2924: Dropped in on a whim. Was excellent. The Salmon was great, the restaurant was nice, Ceci was kind and attentive. Very much enjoyed it. Hope to not come alone next time.
