Barrel & Derrick Restaurant

My wife and I came here one other time before, but the highlight this evening was a 6 course Valentine's Day dinner. They had specialty cocktails prepped just for the special occasion. The meal itself was something unique. It was a clash of French and Brazilian cuisine along with some other cultural influences. The mesh of flavors was brilliantly balanced. Some flavors sweet, some umami, some salty, some light and some robust. Overall, it was a great experience. I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The waitress that served us was attentive and friendly. I would gladly come here again to try any more of their future themed dinners.

For my wife’s birthday I reserved a table and room here and this is my honest review on this place FOOD: Presentation was wonderful, the entrees were well portioned, very flavorful. The prices are reasonable SERVICE: Fantastic, from the hotel staff to the restaurant staff absolutely superb, sweet, kind, polite, attentive, and respectful. ATMOSPHERE: depending on the occasion, for me it was a romantic and elegant atmosphere.

EDIT: I am pleased to come back and report an updated experience. After our poor one, the manage of the restaurant reached out by phone the very next day. She apologized for our experience, and invited us out to try again. After the holidays were over, we called and took her up on the offer and I'm glad that we did! We have a lovely experience, with great service and wonderful food. The manager came over and said "thank you for the opportunity to teach our staff about how to own a mistake and make it right". I love that she used this experience to move forward and turn it into a learning scenario. Now, I know that our service was over the top, because they were trying to right a wrong. BUT....it appeared as though everyone around us was well taken care of and happy with their service. Our food was quite good and we were definitely pleased with our date night. I look forward to giving them another go in the future! I'm so sad that I'm unable to leave a glowing review. This was our first time to venture from Midland to the establishment and I was so hopeful. The hotel is beautiful, and the restaurant had nice reviews, so we were excited to go somewhere new for a date night. Unfortunately, we were seated and after 20 minutes and 1 question about a server, no one ever came to our table. I let the management know on the way out that they needed to check in with their servers and assignments, as we were left complete unattended. Hoping this is not the norm, but at this point, we won't be making the drive over to try again.

Fantastic place!!! One of the ONLY restaurants here and in Midland that actually makes my steaks blue and not overcooked! The drinks are great (especially the Ector Nectar!) and the service is phenomenal!! A great spot to have a fun cocktail or a business lunch!

The food was good, but Patrick’s service made our night. He was so kind and took excellent care of our family. I was nervous about having a baby with us at a nicer place but Patrick made me wonder why I was ever worried. The chicken fried steak, steak salad, and fries were incredible, and the kids meal portions were very generous. I wish we lived closer so we could return!

What a great end to a fabulous weekend. Anular eclipse in the morning and dinner at Barrell & Derrick in the evening. Being inside the hotel lobby, we would not have found it by ourselves. We were here slightly early for the dinner rush, so the service was very personal. We ordered the Bacon wrapped Cornish Hen for appetizer, Beef short ribs and Free cage chicken for the entree, Creme Brulee and Fried milk for dessert, along with a couple of drinks. The food was awesome. Great taste and portions. We will definitely recommend Barrell & Derrick to anyone that asks. Tomorrow, an 11-hour drive back home.

Food was absolutely amazing! We had the free range chicken and the B&D steak. The restaurant was very clean and had a very nice vibe, Joanne was so nice and very informative about the menu. My wife and I will definitely be back!
