While visiting Lubbock last month to perform an inspection at a state facility, I was recommended several eating locations by campus management. I am so glad to have listened and went to lunch at this place. The Escondido Grill is a hidden gem. Ironically, Escondido means hidden in spanish. The place was rustic looking and sat in a beautiful ranch style plot of land that had a steam, small boardwalk, and wild peacocks roaming the grounds. Menu selection was large. I had the Salmon Ceasar Salad meal, and it was awesome. The salmon was perfect cooked, and salad was fresh and tasty. I highly recommend it. My waitress "Taylor" was awesome, very customer friendly, and checked on me several times while refilling my ice tea. She was informative and gave me a little history on the grill and its beautiful landscape. The bonus was that the manager came by to see me to make sure that I was having a good experience. Also, the meal was very inexpensive for its portion and good quality salmon. I will definitely return when I am in town again.

We had a dinner date here around 4:00 on 10/12. We walked up to the front door and were greeted by peacocks! Then when we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and immediately seated. After a few minutes of reviewing the menu, we decided on the chips and queso with the added beef, guacamole, and sour cream. Best queso we have had in a long time! Then for our meal, my wife got the Escondido tacos, and I got the grilled pork chops with green beans, green chile cream corn, and I went ahead and added a baked potato loaded with pulled pork. The tacos were some of the best my wife has ever had. My pork chops were cooked perfectly and seasoned expertly. The green beans were majestic, with a bold and deep umami flavor, but the cream corn was not very spicy at all, and really just tasted like cream corn. But the potato was phenomenal! It was fluffy on the inside and the pulled pork was out of this world delicious. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had a good time for a great price too!

This place was a wonderful surprise. We sat on the patio, which was very cool. They even had live music playing, which was awesome. We did have to fight off the peacocks while we ate. It's not a big deal to me, but some may be uncomfortable with it. I had a whiskey flight to start and tried the brisket deviled eggs and the fried brisket Mac and cheese. DELICIOUS! The menu is large and has a very nice variety. We also tried two different steaks. Ribeye and filet. Both are very flavorful. This might seem a little out of the way, but you won't regret your visit.

This is such a beautiful place to go for some some good food :) i took my boyfriend here and we had so much fun walking around feeding the peacocks 🦚 the server at the front even gave us free peacocks food ! Definitely a time to remember and the food …oh my scrum dilly yum ! 😋

The food was delectable, and the atmosphere was casual yet elegant. I enjoy dining outside when they have live music, and the peacocks keep thinking you will feed them, which you can buy food to feed them as well.

Had a great dinner with an excellent atmosphere and good food. Service could have been a little better but overall a great evening. We will be back next time we are in town. Live music on the patio was a nice bonus.

**UPDATE** The manager made good to correct this and we went back tonight. Great service and the food was delicious!😋 They were out if the appetizer we wanted.. the wait person apologized making it all about her.. "don't hate me!" Didn't carry a beer even though it's on their menu. The sandwich my son ordered was missing any bbq sauce and the advertised jalapeños.. dry. My pasta was good in flavor but odd in presentation.. warm pasta with refrigerator cold tomatoes. There was half the mound of pasta that I cut off and left since no sauce or anything.

Awsome food and experience, lovely ladies and the cook/owner i believe also comes out to check on you and ask how your food is tasting. Beautiful view and beautiful birds throughout the vicinity.
