About Churrascos River Oaks - steak house in Houston, Texas

Branch of a popular, Pan-Latin chain offering steaks, seafood & tres leches cake.

Customer Review Summary

Churrascos River Oaks offers flavorful food and a beautiful environment. Some dishes were served lukewarm or cold, and the service was slow and inattentive at times. The happy hour selection is good, with fresh, limey guacamole standing out, although the ceviche received mixed reviews. Diners often recommend the mojito, Churrasco Argentino, and the tres leches dessert, appreciating the unique spins on traditional dishes. The atmosphere is lovely with a nice patio and bar area, but some found the pricing high for portion sizes. While many praised the attentive staff, experiences with service varied, and some felt the overall atmosphere lacked vibrancy, particularly during quieter times. Overall, guests enjoyed their meals and the friendly service, finding it a suitable place for celebrations despite some criticisms on aspects of service and pricing.

The food tasted very good. Some of it was lukewarm/cold. The environment was beautiful. I went on Valentine’s Day and was late for my reservation but they managed to accommodate. The waiter was slow and not attentive. Enjoyed the 3 course meal deal for v-day.

Good selection for happy hour. The fresh guacamole stood out, so tasty! Very limey(which I love) but if you don’t like lime, it might not be for you. The ceviche had big pieces of tough tilapia which made it hard to eat, not a big fan of it. Great, attentive staff!

This is a great place, the price is higher so expect that. Recommend: the mojito, the churrasco Argentino. The flavors are there and I appreciate their plaintain with sauces (the green one was my favorite) The food was very flavorful and delicious. Everything had a unique spin and it’s a great place to come to celebrate something. I think the alcohol was well because I got pretty sick after 3 drinks which is uncommon for me.

We loved our dinner here. For entrees we had the carne asada, plaintain crusted chicken, and salmon (pictured), but the appetizers were just as good (empanadas and sirenas). Cocktails were great too, especially the pitaya margartia!

The food was delicious! They give you free plantain chips with a red sauce and chimichurri. I got the rosé sangria and it was sweet but I love sweet. We ordered the sirenas as the starter so crispy and tasty. I got the Churrasco Argentino and my husband the parrillada mixta. Our steak was perfectly cooked for our medium well. Ernesto was a wonderful server, very attentive and amiable. For a Tuesday it was completely empty and this place deserves more traffic. I will be coming again

Excellent, long time favorite steakhouse. They have a small but delicious vegetarian menu. We really enjoyed the frito mixto starter and the plantains with chimichurri. There is a lovely patio and nice bar area as well. Highly recommend!

I tired their signature Churrasco beef and it was tender and well seasoned. The chimichurri drizzle on top added a nice acidic balance. It's true, the tres leches was really good! Portion sizes were disappointing (quite small for the price) and the atmosphere was bland for the upscale pricing. Service was acceptable, nothing outstanding, especially for a Saturday night when there were only a few occupied tables; I expected more for the price. Overall, it was fine for my first-time visit, but there wasn't enough going on here to bring me back one day.

The staff felt like an extension of my own family. We were welcomed with warm smiles. Emilio was our server and he was knowledgeable and very friendly. The smoked lamb chops were the highlight of our meal. The pasta Alfredo was delicious my only take away would be to go a little easier on the sauce with the steak bites. Slightly overwhelming amount of sauce. Again very lovely experience my friend and I were underdressed. thinking we’d be judged but as stated before we were treated like family.
