About 1700° Steakhouse - steak house in El Paso, Texas

Customer Review Summary

Michael was an attentive and friendly server, enhancing the dining experience. The filets were cooked perfectly, complemented by a red wine demi sauce. Dessert, specifically the carrot cake, was disappointing—dry, sugary, and stale. The atmosphere is unique and beautiful, with interesting dishes like a balsamic-infused salad. While the raw oysters were praised, some main courses like seabass and ribeye fell short due to overcooking. Birthday dinners were celebrated in a romantic atmosphere with excellent service; however, some dishes like the Carne Apache were preferred individually rather than combined. The steaks were consistently praised for cooking accuracy, and drinks were well-made, contributing to a relaxed yet exciting ambiance. The bone-in ribeye and gnocchi were highlights, although dessert was not universally favored. Some reviewers noted a longer wait time for food and a slightly dated decor, but the quality of the steaks and attentive service were frequently acknowledged. Pricing was viewed as on the higher side, common for great steakhouses, but worth it for the overall experience. Parking options close to the restaurant were mentioned as both convenient and affordable.

I first want to start off by recognizing Michael as a great server. He was very attentive and friendly! Our filets were cooked to perfection and the red wine demi was a great compliment to the steak. Where the meal fell short was on the dessert. The carrot cake was dry and sugary. It tasted old and stale and was too heavy on the ginger. We didn’t have the heart to tell Michael as he let us know it was made in house and he was super proud of it, but wanted to note it here for future reference to management. You can even see from my photos that the front was crumbled before even touching it. Overall a good experience and would return for dinner, wine, and service! :)

Very unique restaurant. Beautiful of course! So many things to look at. The taste buds are definitely played with here. I got a salad and they had these tiny cubes in it. I forgot what it is but it was infused with balsamic vinegar. Never had anything with those small cubes in it. It was one of the best salads I’ve ever had.

We had been looking forward to trying this place out for some time now. A friend of mine believes this place to be the best in town. We were not impressed! The raw oysters were fantastic, but the bone marrow was just OK, the seabass was dry, and the New York Strip and bone in Ribeye were both overcooked. The service was impressive, and the atmosphere was elegant and comfortable.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner at 1700 Steakhouse. The atmosphere is very romantic, our server was great and helpful with recommendations. We started with the Carne Apache which is both steak and tuna tartar, the flavor and seasoning was good but I would have preferred it being either just one or the other, not combined. The steak was perfectly cooked and the sauces were delicious, but the Foie Gras was not as buttery as I like. It did reheat better at home on the pan the day after. They do have a variety of wine selection and the bar cocktails were delicious.

Everything was absolutely perfect for a special occasion dinner. The steaks were cooked to exact specifications, the drinks were very well made, and the atmosphere couldn't have been more relaxed but still exciting. So far nothing else like it in EP.

Awesome restaurant for a date night! It is beautiful and more of a private ambiance. We had the bone in ribeye, gnocchi and milk and honey dessert. The ribeye tasted excellent, super tender not dry at all even though we ordered medium well. The gnocchi is a must try, super airy and delicious. The dessert was also very different to what I have tasted, not my favorite though (I am more of a chocolate person) so if you have not tried it and want to try something new, you should give it a try. The only down side is that it does take a while to have your food out so don’t arrive hungry lol

The atmosphere felt a little dated but still elegant. I ordered the 8oz prime rib with au pouvre sauce and sautéed mushrooms with a half lobster tail. This steak was amazing! It had a great hard sear on the outside, and the whole inside was a perfect medium rare. The mushrooms were marinated in a delicious marinade, giving them a robust flavor. The lobster was also cooked to perfection. It was firm but tender and succulent. The clarified butter had great flavor but was made even better with the addition of a squirt of lemon from the include wedge. Was it a little pricey? Yes, but all great steakhouses are. All said and done, my meal was just under $100 before tip. Speaking of tips, my waiter was extremely knowledgeable of the items that were on the menu, and he was very attentive to all my dining needs. He earned himself a really nice tip!

Opentable says the dress code is "smart casual", to answer the question I was wondering while making a reservation for here. Showed up 25 minutes early for my reservation, seated immediately as it was pretty quiet inside the restaurant. Staff were nice and professional, our server was helpful and had great suggestions. I ordered the Waygu with truffle fries, along with the wine our server suggested, and it was phenomenal. The outside crisp was full of flavor and the inside bursted with it too. While parking is $25-30 at the hotel, literally across the street there is a parking garage which we paid $5 to park at for our meal as we were not staying in the hotel.
