This place is truly AMAZING!! I had supper here on 11.22.2024 and was served by Jadynn. Her recommended choices from the menu were perfect and her sweet and bubbly aura enhanced my dining experience. BRAVO Jadynn!!! The food is DELICIOUS and the drinks are SPECTACULAR!! Highly recommend and I will definitely eat here again. Their menu options are very intriguing... 1.8.2025.. Celebrated Birthday number 54 here and the food and service were even better!!

This Valentine’s Day, my husband pulled off the ultimate surprise—reservations at The Public House in Amarillo. Neither of us had been before, but after this experience? We’d gladly make it a weekly tradition. From the moment we walked in, everything was perfection. The service, the atmosphere, the food, the drinks—it all worked together in effortless harmony. The dim, intimate lighting, the elegantly displayed wine collection in the center of the restaurant… it was simply stunning. Water was served from crystal-clear carafes, our waitress recited the specials without hesitation, and the manager was personally making his rounds—checking in, chatting with guests, even bussing tables. Now that’s leadership in action. Appetizer We kicked things off with the pimento cheese-stuffed armadillo eggs. If you’re not fluent in Southern eats, that’s just a fancy way of saying bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeños. And while they weren’t spicy at all, they packed a serious punch of flavor. The smoky bacon, creamy cheese, and subtle heat from the jalapeño? Chef’s kiss. Drinks I started the evening with a glass of Moscato, but once I saw they had Honey Mead, there was no turning back. It was smooth, rich, and exactly what I wanted. My husband opted for a Yellow Rose beer followed by an Old Fashioned, both executed to perfection. Entrées Kevin went with the prime rib special, cooked to an impeccable medium-rare and paired with creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and drunken mushrooms—which he’s now thoroughly obsessed with. I had a harder time deciding, so I went with two entrées (because why not?). First up, the elk tenderloin, rare, topped with jalapeño hollandaise and served with creamed spinach and roasted potatoes. It was hands-down the best elk I’ve ever had. My only critique? The plate had a lot of empty space, which felt a little odd presentation-wise, but flavor-wise? Flawless. We also shared the shrimp and grits, which came loaded with red-eye gravy, bell peppers, shrimp, and jalapeño sausage. While the flavors were bold and comforting, the dish leaned more towards a soup than a creamy grit dish, and the bell peppers were abundant. Not a deal-breaker, just a personal preference. Dessert Of course, we couldn’t leave without dessert. We couldn’t decide between the turtle cheesecake or the one topped with berry compote, so naturally, we got both. The turtle was my favorite, while Kevin fell for the berry—a perfect ending to a perfect meal. Now, let’s be clear—this is not your standard two-dollar-sign restaurant. We came prepared for the check, and let me tell you, it was worth every single penny. Whether you’re planning a romantic date night, celebrating an anniversary, or looking to impress the in-laws, The Public House delivers. A huge thank you to the entire staff for an unforgettable Valentine’s dinner!

Deb was awesome first of all! I came in for lunch hoping to order the encrusted sea bass but realized it was only a dinner option. Despite my slight disappointment I was still very satisfied with the appetizer lamb chops and the shrimp and grits! I also had the butter cake for dessert! Everything tasted amazing!! Don’t let the outside of the restaurant fool you, it’s really pretty inside and service was great. The Espresso Martini (my favorite drink) was tiny, watery but still good.

This is truly a hidden gem of atmospheric perfection. Management and staff are a cohesive flawlessly flowing force to be reckoned with. Literally I didn’t see a single thing wrong :). Also live folk musician in the corner was performing at the exact perfect volume for both enjoyment of music and for still carrying on conversations with ease. Thank you for an amazing stop on my travels.

My wife and I ate here for my birthday to try another fine dining restaurant in the city. We had been looking at this place for a while but never actually came in to try it. Now that we have, I can say it was well worth it. I had the Elk Tenderloin with a couple of cocktails and my wife had the steak with also a couple of drinks. To start we ate the Armadillo Eggs (weird name I know) which was quite delicious. I was fairly surprised that the Elk Tenderloin was not too gamey. Cooked at medium rare, it was a good dish to try and am glad I tried it. The drinks were also mixed well. Not too strong or watered down. In addition, the waitress that we had was very friendly and attentive to our table the whole time there. I applaud this restaurant for providing something different here in Amarillo and serving the customer with the utmost respect. I definitely recommend anyone who’s looking for a nice quiet place where they can have intimate conversation to eat at the public house.

What an interesting place, the building is somewhat understated on the outside but when you go through the doors be prepared to be wowed. This place is unlike anything else I’ve seen in Amarillo. We sat in the “lounge” section, this was quite a different and enjoyable experience. Pricing is toward the higher end for Amarillo, but the atmosphere, service and food are definitely worth it. A GREAT place for a different or special experience. 6/28/2024 Still an awesome experience. Jenn’ was great, came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Love this place, in my humble opinion this is the best restaurant in town.

Nice atmosphere. We thought we were under dressed but they didn't seem to care. Highly recommend the pimento cheese sandwich add meatloaf. The Baha chicken was good but not as good.

A truly delicious experience and a gem of Amarillo, Public House offers stellar service, great atmosphere, and the food to back up their prices with delicious appetizers, main courses and an exhaustive drink menu that will leave even the most discerning of guests happy. Tonight, we had a delicious mushroom Sautee appetizer. I had the special which was a perfectly seasoned and cooked flat iron steak paired with tasty but otherwise underwhelming French fries as a side. Thankfully the steak was well worth the price of admission. My wife ordered the ribeye which came on a bed of cous-cous with some Brussel sprouts and topped with a fried egg. An odd presentation but a delicious flavor profile that will be remembered for some time. As this was our first foray into the fare that Public House has to offer I was very impressed, and am excited to try other dishes the next time we inevitably return.
