About Macaroni Joe's - steak house in Amarillo, Texas

Refined, relaxed Italian restaurant offering more than 450 wines in a faux Tuscan village setting.

Customer Review Summary

Macaroni Joe's offers a low-lit, Italian street corner ambiance that many find delightful. Service is consistently praised as knowledgeable and accommodating, with specific servers recognized for their exceptional attentiveness. Food reviews are mixed; while the calamari has been described as the most tender ever, other dishes like the butter garlic shrimp pasta lacked flavor. Portion sizes have also come under scrutiny, with some diners feeling that the servings did not justify the high prices. On the positive side, standout dishes include the Cajun pasta, Blackened Bayou Tortellini, and the ribeye steak, with dessert options like bread pudding and crème brûlée receiving high marks. Overall, the restaurant is recommended for its ambiance and service, though the flavor and portion sizes of some dishes may require improvement.

My wife and I don't stop by Amarillo often but we had a opportunity to stop by for a quick appetizer while the restaurant was slow. (disclaimer: major place for wine but the wife and I aren't drinkers any longer. Selection looked decent at first glance) The servers were knowledable and absolutely a treasure to deal with. The ambiance of the whole place is a low-lit pleasure, from the candle lit tables to the Italian-streetcorner feel of the rooms. On to brass tacks, the food: I can only guess what the rest of the menu is like from the calamari but let me say.. I've had squid in all different cuts from at least 30 different restaurants throughout the states..This was the most tender calamari I've ever had. They use cutlets from the bell which is a much different experience to the normal calamari rings you get in Texas. The price was very reasonable for the quantity received. We decided to share an order of Cajun pasta, to which our server brought it to us in perfectly sized bowls for each of us. A delightfully creamy, slightly spicy, tomato-base pasta with grilled shrimp. Delicious. I short, this place is a dream. Absolutely recommend and will be back.

We had done out and the service was great, the food could have a bit more flavor. Mob chicken was delicious, tomato basil soup amazing, honey glaze chicken while was small was also delicious. The only complaint we have is the butter garlic shrimp pasta, it had hardly any flavor. Would return and hopefully the pasta will have more flavor

We went here for my sister's birthday I ordered the flet 6 oz with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies it was the smallest plate of food I have ever had put in front 9f me there was more plate then food one spoonful of potatoes and one spoonful on mixed veggies was not enough to fill a child's stomach much less then an adult we did get the bread pudding and that was even larger then the main course it was good but not good enough to have to pay over $200. We will never go here again way to much money for what you get. I left this place with a stomach that was still hungry and no more money to fill it up. I would recommend this place only to rich people that only want to drink wine 🍷 don't go here if you are hungry.

This is one of our favorite places for date night!! We had the gluten free Blackened Bayou Tortellini with shrimp and steak. So delicious!! The service is always impeccable from start to finish. Our server Jaime is the best!! He is so gracious and accommodating, ensuring every aspect of our dining experience is perfect. We would come back just for the service.” We would definitely recommend it.

First timer. Ribeye was amazing. Drinks were great. Desert was decadent. Staff was on point. Friends and good food always go hand in hand.

Tonight was my 1st night going to Macaroni Joe's and it was fantastic. My Wife had the Gluten free surf and turf tortellini and I had the nachos neopolitan. Both were great. The best thing about the meal was our server Sarah. She definitely went above and beyond. Thank you for making our 12 year anniversary great!

My wife picked this restaurant for dinner before going to the symphony. I can say that she has fantastic taste! I mean just look at the pictures. The atmosphere and decor were amazing. You really feel like you're at an outdoor Italian Cafe. And the service was perfect. Our waiter was very attentive, polite, and well informed. I had the bone-in pork chop, with vanilla creme brulee for dessert. I had no idea that it was really TWO pork chops (look at the picture!). The sauce was amazing and the sear on the meat was unbelievable! The dessert was excellent, too. Perfectly crusted creme brulee with NO taste of egg in the custard. My wife has the blackened bayou with shrimp plus the 4 oz. blackened steak, with bread pudding with bourbon vanilla caramel sauce for dessert. The spicy Cajun flavor was great - with a very noticeable kick (as it should have). Just simply DELICIOUS! And the dessert.... just WOW! (Yes I had some of hers, too.) It really was too die for! We will definitely be back!

Great place for dinner. Food was fantastic and very large servings. Also the decor is exceptional. We had Jumpin Joe's Spaghetti Cruzan (very spicy, which I liked) and Lemon Butter Shrimp pasta. Also they served one of the best Manhattan cocktail I have had at a restaurant.
