Customer Review Summary
First-time visitors enjoyed the Bayou pasta, Tuscan steak, and well-priced drinks, though some cocktails were vodka-based. Service was praised, and even key lime pie earned approval from someone who typically dislikes it. A wonderful server, Ben, enhanced the experience, with the Prime rib and Maui Steak noted as delicious, alongside a large side salad. The restaurant offers great flavors, excellent salads, and amazing prime ribs. One reviewer loved the sirloin steak and touted the carrot cake as the best in the tri-state area. While food was good, it didn’t stand out for all, with waits for a table noted, and a chilly waiting area. A business lunch included highly praised tortilla soup and steak salad, with excellent service from Mathew. Portion sizes were noted as huge, with freshly made food and exceptional waitstaff in a romantic atmosphere. Desserts like key lime pie and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake were highlighted, with recommendations to take some home. Repeatedly recognized for great service, one reviewer found the fish sandwich excellent, while another was disappointed by cold baby back ribs and mediocre barbecue sauce. Overall, the restaurant is regarded as high-end and worth a visit, despite some inconsistencies in food temperature and quality.

First time at J Alexander’s and we loved it. We had the Bayou pasta and the Tuscan steak. We also had the deviled eggs and a few drinks. Everything was well priced. I didn’t care for the drinks I got as every cocktail seemed vodka based. The food was good and so was the service. Key lime pie for dessert was also good and I normally don’t like key lime.

We had a wonderful server by the name of Ben, and our meal was fabulous. I made last minute reservations at 8:30pm on a Saturday night (that was the earliest time we could get in - so only a 45-minute wait). We had the Prime rib with the smashed red potatoes & I had the Maui Steak which was oh so yummy, also with the red smashed potatoes. We split the side salad as it’s very large in size and didn’t want to ruin our appetite but do love an excellent salad which it was indeed! Everything was so good!

Always the best flavors and great selections for meals, you can also switch sides with your main course The best salads and prime ribs are amazing.I chose to try the sirloin steak this time, and it was perfect. Lastly, they have the best carrot cake anywhere in the tri state 😋

Food is good but nothing spectacular. Waited 20 minutes for a table and the waiting area is right by the door so it is relatively chilly. Staff was accommodating.

Great food and service. We went for a business lunch on January 27, 2025. We were a party of four. I had the tortilla soup and the steak salad, and an espresso. The tortilla soup was great and the steak salad was AMAZING! I ordered it medium; the steak was tender and juicy, very flavorful. The salad dressing was awesome (it is a little sweet) and everything was fresh. The service was great as well, it was Mathew attending to our table.

No matter what you order, the food they serve to you is HUGE! It's all freshly made and delicious! Their waitstaff go above and beyond just serving you food. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's high-end, but more than worth it. The atmosphere is very romantic. I suggest you make a reservation. My compliments to the chef. So far, the two desserts I've are their key lime pie and their white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. If you're too full for dessert, you really need to take some home.

J Alexander's always does a great job! The service was excellent as was the fish sandwich.

I was disappointed on the baby back ribs as they were tender, barbecue sauce was just ok and my ribs were not as hot as it should have been. The end of my ribs was ice cold like refrigerator cold. With the long wait and higher price not sure if it’s worth visiting again. With as many Managers they had working none of them was walking around doing table touches. Waitress was attentive and friendly.
