About Black Rock Bar & Grill - steak house in Dayton, Ohio
Customer Review Summary
Black Rock Bar & Grill offers a unique dining experience with the option to cook food on a hot rock. The atmosphere is described as cool and inviting, making it great for families and date nights. However, some patrons feel that the prices are too high for the food offered, despite enjoying the concept and the delicious pretzels and sauces. Service received mixed reviews; while some found it friendly and attentive, others experienced long wait times for food and checks. Dishes such as the lobster dip, Dynamite Chicken, and steak received positive feedback, alongside recommendations for the Artichoke Dip and the chicken tortellini soup. The ambiance has room for improvement, particularly regarding safety and accessibility at peak times. Overall, guests appreciate the unique cooking experience and flavorful dishes but some question the value relative to cost.

This is a really cool place. It has a way you can cook your own food on a hot rock that's put in front of you. Kids would love. It's not bad, but the value for the food is too high. I enjoy it because it's a cool place to go and my daughter likes it but other than that. It's not worth the price. I wish it was because the concept of it is awesome. I never mind paying for food and don't even care. To be honest, but I want it to be worth the price That being said, the pretzels are the bomb very, very good, and the sauces as well.I like this sauce better than the cheese

Super smokey place just filled with tantalizing scents of the most flavorful dishes you’ll ever try! I’m truly impressed and satisfied with toss place! The service was friendly and assertive, the food was scrumptious and super fresh! From the pretzels and dips to the chicken shred and steaks, by far in my top 10 favorite bar and grills! Good selection of beers and spirits, great choices on food, appetizers and desserts…OH MY!!! 😋 I highly recommend for a good time and even better steak come here first! The Louisiana Dream sauce was perfectly spiced straight from NOLA! The sweet chili sauce was perfectly balanced! The casino butter was phenomenal! I’m definitely coming back next time I work in the area! Thank you!!!

Great place for a Saturday evening. Guessing from the 50 minute wait to get a table, many others had the same idea. Food was really good, I highly recommend the Artichoke Dip. (Can't wait to try the Lobster Dip 😋) The only thing I can say is that if you want a really good place to get really good food (especially the steak) then find your way to this place. Try the sizzling rock (700°!). You will not be disappointed.

Came here for a date night and it was my first time. We were seated fairly quickly and had great service at the bar while we waited and once we sat down for dinner. We ordered the lobster dip as a starter, especially because it didn’t have any pork or red meat… So we thought… Also asked the waitress for clarification. The dip in fact had pieces of pork/bacon when I mentioned that as a food restriction.. i even mentioned it to the waitress who went back to the kitchen to tell me there wasn’t bacon when we’d picked the pieces out. Since she offered no other option I just gave it to my boyfriend to eat. We also ordered the Dynamite Chicken and a steak. He enjoys this restaurant a lot . My chicken was great and he enjoyed his steak and sides

Normally, I would just note how the server was nice and go on with my review. However in this situation it's important to start with the inadequate service. Upon being seated, it took just under an hour for our three entrees to be served, and by the time we were finished and had ordered dessert, it took about another half hour for dessert to arrive, followed by half an hour simply waiting for the check. Despite this, the appetizers and entrees were quite agreeable. Everybody liked the pretzels with their dip, I personally preferred the nacho dip, but the others liked the garlic cheese dip that the dish comes with. The pita bread with spinach artichoke was quite good as well, though the pita was slightly over-toasted. I ordered the Stone filet, which I cooked myself with some of their black rock sauce and casino butter, and it turned out very delicious, though the experience wasn't all that entertaining. Additionally the side of fries I ordered were too bland and got cold too quickly. Unfortunately, the dessert I ordered was a caramel cookie with ice cream, and while it wasn't awful, it was certainly far too sweet and lacked a savory or salty flavor, which lowered the quality of the dish tenfold. The atmosphere seemed quite bland, and I don't have any notes on that other than it lacking any distinction. Overall, I'd rather not eat here again for the prices of the food when there are better options, possibly for cheaper, in the area.

Just as I rated them: food is exceptional and EXACTLY how I requested it, service was spot-on and attentive, atmosphere is good but management really needs to consider unblocking the entrance from patrons waiting to be seated. Realizing we were there at peak times (Saturday evening in the winter) it was still ridiculous trying to get in and out..... and dangerous in the event you need a mass exit. Bet the local.fire inspector has warned or fined them for this; it's honestly THAT bad at the front entrance, @75 standing in a very confined area. Side note: the chicken tortellini soup is unmatched, best I've ever had!

Just dinner. Was able to be seated immediately. Really cool steak house experience with the option to cook your steak yourself on a heated lava rock. Ordered the Taste of Black Rock Shrimp and scallop was prepared to perfection. Ordered the steak medium but it was more well done. Surprisingly, it was still tender and had great flavor.

We had a enjoyable dinner. Our food arrived to our table quickly and hot. Our appetizers were delicious and around in enough time to enjoy prior to our main course. Our service was very attentive and courteous and explained the restaurant specialty of cooking at the table to the person of our party who was there for the first time.
