Customer Review Summary
The Top Steak House offers a blend of classic atmosphere and varied food experiences. Many reviews praise the warm, old-school steakhouse vibe, highlighting the delicious food and attentive service. The Oysters Rockefeller appetizer was particularly noted as a standout dish, while the lobster bisque and filet mignon received positive feedback. However, some dishes, like the deviled eggs and tossed salad, fell short of expectations considering the restaurant's reputation. Guests enjoyed the live piano music, contributing to a classy dining experience, though it could be noisy during busy times like Restaurant Week. While the service was generally attentive, there were complaints about miscommunication and oversight, especially concerning dietary needs. Overall, The Top is regarded as a solid choice for special occasions, but some diners felt their experiences were inconsistent.

We were lucky enough to try The Top Steak House during a Columbus Restaurant Week event (don't sleep on it—this is a limited time offer this week only, Jan 20-25, 2025). It was the perfect opportunity to try this high-end steakhouses for the first time. We'd come back here for a nice date night. It's one of the best steakhouses in Columbus. Due to Restaurant Week, it was a bit loud and busy due to the crowd, but you could hear the wonderful ambient music from the piano player. We loved the live music—so classy. Interesting decor, pleasant dim lighting, comfortable booth, good service. Food courses arrived at a good pace, and attentive service quickly cleared finished plates and refilled drinks. The Oysters Rockefeller appetizer (not pictured but check other people's Google reviews) was beautiful, cheesy, and fantastic. That was the star of the show for me. First time trying oysters, and they weren't too fishy. Compliments to the chef! The filet mignon tartar is finely chopped into a minced patty, fancy but not as good as the oysters. The lobster bisque is quite good, mosty creamy but it has a good flavor and is served with two pieces of perfect toast in the soup. By the way, the bread and butter here is SO GOOD. The french onion soup is also good here. The filet mignon is sky high and incredibly tender. The cooked spinach, bland rutabega-infused mashed potato sides, and strong bordelaise wine sauce were skippable, but that STEAK, mmmm. The filet is excellent even for a steakhouse. Desserts were good too. This would be a nice date night steak restaurant, especially on a less crowded evening.

Had dinner here for our 30th wedding anniversary, we had read this was the best steak house in Ohio, and we did not want to pass up the opportunity to celebrate at the best. The atmosphere was right out of a 1960s Mad Men episode, complete with a pianist playing and singing live. The food was very good (the Lobster blew me away and the prime Rib was incredible). The Ribeye was good, but I would have expected much better for the price. Loved the Shrimp cocktail, but the deviled eggs really were a bit of a disappointment. The big let down for the evening was the tossed salad. It was exactly what they listed, a tossed salad, but for a dinner that was as expensive and top rated as this was supposed to be, I really would have expected something better than what appeared to be a salad out of a bag. I have had immensely better salads at Texas Roadhouse. Overall, mixed review, some of the food was so incredible. Other items, it didn't seem like they tried very hard.

The food was really good, the steaks were perfectly charred. Mac & cheese has shallots in it, which are not listed, so my sister, who has an onion allergy, had a reaction. Giant onion rings were served on every plate, which if we knew that in advance, we wouldn't have ordered them as an appetizer. We have lived on the east side near Bexley for more than 30 yrs & yet it was my mom's first time. We celebrated her birthday there & it was GREAT. Loved the fact that we went during restaurant week & those in our party who wanted that had a pre-fix menu as an option, but we were also able to order off the regular menu. Really good experience all around. (It's pricey, so be prepared for that, but the smile on my mom's face & all our belly's full made it worth it!) 3 people on our bill it and came to about $200. (They also add 20% gratuity for parties of 5+).

I ate here tonight for my omnivore brother’s birthday celebration. Despite not having a fully plant based entree on the menu, the chef and wait staff, especially our waitress Hannah who was lovely and kind, did so much to help curate me a vegan meal and were extremely helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable. I ended up ordering a salad with no cheese and with the Italian dressing; a baked potato with olive oil, garlic, and sautéed onions; roasted asparagus without hollandaise plus garlic and olive oil added; teriyaki mushrooms; sautéed onions plus garlic added; and the vegetable du jour which was brussel sprouts cooked in olive oil instead of butter also with garlic added. Both our waitress Hannah and another member of staff routinely checked in to make sure we were well taken care of and satisfied and this made everything smooth and made me feel comfortable to ask questions. Y’all were wonderful and I will definitely be back! I really hope yall decide to add a plant based entree and/or apps and sides at some point :)

The piano was beautiful and I have the best steak I’ve ever tasted. I loved it for my first anniversary ❤️

We drove about 2 hours, had one night away from the kids, and decided on The Top for dinner. We made a reservation. Got there about 10 minutes late because of traffic, but I called ahead to let them know and they said it was fine. We were so excited when we got there, the piano player was gearing up, atmosphere was subdued, darkly lit, romantic. We're following the hostess to get seated....out to the patio. The patio that is hotter than hell, brightly lit, full of people that did not dress for the occasion (no hate, just not what we were expecting), loud with bar backs scooping ice for twenty minutes straight, servers carrying dirty plates past us every minute. We did not know the patio was even an option or we would have said no. Either way, we endeavor to have a nice dinner, still excited for exceptional food. Nope lol, steak was flavorless, over done, mashed potatoes tasted gummy, server was nice but walked away more than once when I was in mid-sentence and seemed to have more important things to do. When you plan a nice night out, you expect to pay a premium, but you don't expect to pay a premium for something you could have gotten at Texas Roadhouse. Would not recommend to anyone.
