My fiancé and I came here for a date night, and it was absolutely phenomenal! Our server Manny was so incredible! He made our dining experience more enjoyable! We did the prix fixe menu, started with Caesar salad, and chicken tortilla soup! The picture does not do the soup justice as it was full of delicious flavor. The entrees were also fantastic, the crab cake was wonderful. The desserts were also to die for! The ice cream is made in house. If you’re looking for your next best date night, give this place a shot! We will definitely return in the future.

This restaurant was the very best that we’ve been to in years ! The atmosphere is cozy and upscale ~ food is absolutely delicious. I had the filet ( well done ) and it was cooked perfectly. My husband and I shared the oyster Rockefeller , I haven’t had it in forever, and it certainly didn’t disappoint . We came into town for my MIL Funeral .. so I wanted a special night out for my husband to uplift his spirits ~ and this place was the perfect choice !!! Our server , I believe he went by ‘ JT ‘???? made our entire experience there just perfect ! All the staff was attentive and friendly ~ this is a rare find :-) Next time we pass through Ohio we will make a stop here for sure !

This was our first time dining here, and it likely won't be the last. First, the good: the service here was the best I've had in recent memory. We were celebrating a special event, and we were offered a complimentary champagne toast or dessert, which was very nice and unexpected. The place was gorgeous inside and busy, busy, busy! I loved the look inside. Unfortunately, both of our steaks were very, very undercooked. We would have sent them back, but honestly, it took a while to get them, so we just are the most done parts and took the rest to go. The creamed corn was delicious! Asparagus was also undercooked, however, as well. For the money, I would have liked the food to have been better cooked. It was pretty costly, but it did taste good....just undercooked. It may have been an off night in the kitchen. The blackberry jalapeño margaritas were delicious! We'll try this place again, as we're in the area multiple times a year. Hopefully it'll be a bit more on the money then.

We were here for my husband’s department dinner, and even though the menu was pared down for the occasion, the food and drinks were phenomenal. My only suggestion would be to choose a less pungent soap in the restroom. It is SO strong that it’s all I could smell while eating after washing my hands. It definitely has elderly woman vibes about it.

We were waiting for our drinks refill and the server was saying "Sorry for waiting but I have a lot of tables". Even if your management does not have enough staff - never ever say so to your customers. We ordered coffee and desserts. Coffee came 10 minutes prior to the dessert. The manager stopped by. I have expressed my disappointment in having coffee without dessert. The manager promised to bring extra coffee at no charge. Guess what - no coffee, no apologies. Steak was very average for an expensive steakhouse. I'd say that my visit to the Longhorn was better for less than half of the price.

This is a great spot for a special occasion or date night. The atmosphere is lively, and the service is attentive---at least, our waiter was great in that regard. However, it's worth noting that even with a reservation, you might experience a bit of a wait, especially on busy nights. That would be the only issue my wife and I had all night was those who arrived after us being seated even with the reservations that we held. On to the good stuff. The food was great. My crab cakes were good, and the accompanying sauce was exceptional. The Aussie Lamb entree was cooked perfectly, and the mushroom risotto was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, we had a good time celebrating our anniversary at J. Gilbert's. The restaurant even made the occasion special with complimentary champagne and a beautifully decorated table.

I wanted to love it more than I did. Granted, I ordered pasta in a steakhouse. I broke one of my own rules. But I was a guest, and I really wanted the wedge salad. As a $12 add-on I was trying to be fiscally kind to my host. The pasta was fine. The but if you tell me something is blackened - I want the spice. It did not deliver. And the extra blob of red pepper pesto was nearly flavorless. I did enjoy the wedge salad as it came with a healthy dose of the buttermilk blue cheese dressing. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals, and it was a nice evening together. I feel bad about not leaving a 5 star review.

Went here for date night 12/21/24 and we both ordered off the Prix Fixe menu which is a good deal and includes a lot of food. Everything was fresh delicious. Not pictured was the chocolate cake and carrot cake.
