Customer Review Summary
Make reservations in advance, as same-day reservations are not common. Expect to wait if you don't. The lounge by the bar is comfortable for waiting, with a big screen TV for kids. The atmosphere feels a bit outdated but isn't a major issue for most diners. The food and grill show are outstanding, particularly the Shogun dinner which includes steak, chicken, soup, salad, grilled shrimp, and sauces. Portions are generous, resulting in leftovers for many. Food quality is generally good, but some found the chef's showmanship lacking compared to other Japanese steakhouses. Prices may be higher than indicated on the website. Some diners felt the appetizers were lacking in quantity compared to the main dishes. Concerns were raised about the presentation of takeout containers at the table. Service can be slow with water and tea refills needing reminders. Lunch specials offer good value though portion sizes may be smaller. The restaurant is noted for its cleanliness issues in the restrooms. Experiences vary, with some highlighting great service and food, while others mention slow service and staffing miscommunications. Overall, many recommend dining here, especially with discounts like Groupons. It’s a preferred choice for hibachi food enthusiasts.

Make reservations. They also don't usually take same day reservations. We didn't know this and waited an hour to be seated. There is a really comfortable lounge next to the bar where you can wait. The big screen TV was playing Jungle Book for the kids.

The atmosphere is a little outdated but that does not bother us. The food and grill show is outstanding. My husband and I both had the Shogun dinner with fried rice and lemondade each and cost us $71. The dinner is a combo of steak (grilled to your liking) and chicken. The dinner comes with a broth based soup, salad and grilled shrimp appetizer along with a side of yum yum and ginger sauce IMO the servings are more than plentiful. Neither one of us could finish our meal and had it for dinner the next night. I enjoying going here for the occasional treat.

Ate here yesterday taking advantage of a Groupon. As far as the food quality I thought it was very good. Although it had been about 4 years since experiencing a Japanese Steakhouse I don't recall feeling a need to add to my food any of the "complimentary" sauces. The showmanship of the chef compared to my pervious Japanese Steakhouse experiences was a bit lacking. A few negatives: The prices on the website are not up to date being about $5 lower than the menu price. Therefore our meal cost significantly more than planned. Personally I felt the food portion for the meal was lopsided. Appetizer amount for the shrimp was lacking. The main dish size compared to the fried rice resulted in more fried rice than main dish. This impacted my opinion of the food to price value. Also our table had 2 parties with the other half of the table being empty. This openness of the table I assume is what prompted the restaurant decision to include a takeout meal being cooked with our meal. This is not necessarily is not a problem. I mean it has to be prepared somewhere. However the take home containers were placed between the 2 parties at our table. I felt this was a bit tacky in presentation and atmosphere when there was plenty of room for the containers on the empty half of our table area. In general I would eat here again but only with the a Groupon or similar discount. Otherwise If I was asked to choose a Japanese Steakhouse to eat at in the Columbus area without a discount I'd choose House of Japan by Tuttle Crossing.

Was not able to sit in due to my daughter being under the weather but the food was great. When I went in to get the food they had a big party going on and was very busy but still assisted me very quickly. My food was fresh hot and delicious.

Food was good and properly cooked. Asked for water and hot tea. They were quick to refill pop, but for hot tea and water you may need to ask again to get any tea. Same for water or tea refills, so don't be shy if you order this. They have a very inexpensive chicken fried rice lunch special. All of their lunch pricing is very good. The serving sizes are smaller so if you are a voracious eatery and want larger portions then no lunch menu will likely suffice. This is a Pepsi shop. Last trip they were out of Dr. Pepper.

Food is delicious. The bathroom mirror was the dirtiest I've ever seen. I'm not one to comment about restrooms but this was bad. The service was slow and we didn't get any refills even on water. Took forever to collect our payment. Enjoyed the food and experience but wouldn't go for the more expensive steak because it's all cooked together anyhow.

I have always loved this place. For Japanese steakhouse bliss: reserve ahead, especially weekends. Expect vibrant teppanyaki shows, sizzling proteins, and flavorful fried rice. Dress comfortably, bring your appetite, and enjoy the interactive dining experience!

Amazing atmosphere, amazing food, amazing service. I loved the decorations, the building is beautiful inside and outside. Our chef was very kind and made conversation. Our wait time was a bit extended due to a miscommunication in the staff, but it did not interfere with the overall experience. I recommend to anyone that enjoys hibachi food!
