We visited Carolina Ale House based on the reviews of others. I found it interesting that so many were either "loved it" or "hated it". Seems to be quite the polarizing place! We tried it just to see what our experience would be. We were ... Meh. It was okay. We really liked the buffalo chicken dip starter. That part was a win. The atmosphere was also inviting. Our greeter was happy and helpful. Our wait staff seemed nice enough but kind of distracted or... bored, maybe? It was all good. Everyone has an off day. Hubby liked the brisket french dip he ordered. I - on the other hand - wasn't super impressed with the sourdough burger I ordered. It was bland and greasier than it needed to be. The fries were tasty and crispy, but also way greasier than they needed to be. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing for me. It happens. Overall. Was Carolina Ale House good for a one time try? Sure. Will we ever go back if we visit W-S again? Probably not.

I stopped in right after the lunch rush on a Tuesday. I had the French Dip with onion soup along with french fries. The food was delicious 😋. The waiter was excellent. He talked me into trying the donut holes covered in chocolate and cinnamon sugar. I will be back. -MK

I enjoyed the food and service here. Everything was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Fried Chicken Alfredo. My son ordered the wings they were absolutely delicious. We did have to wait 30 minutes but the wait was worth it.

Attentive, suggestive, and kind! Our server, Nicia was amazing! I would come here alone just for her service, but fortunately, the food was awesome as well. The wings were cooked to perfection, the Philly was on point and the beer was ICE COLD. Literally a great experience. I would recommend this place to anyone. First time here and it won't be my last!

I would give this place zero stars if I could this was the single worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I usually get food from the Fayetteville never had a bad experience there but Winston Salem is a different story. I went in to order my niece and nephew pizza I ordered two kids meal cheese pizzas. They are picky eaters. I received two cheese burgers not pizzas. I also ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and was given it with the most wilted piece of lettuce I have ever seen in my life. It didn’t even have ranch on it like it said it would on the online menu it has so brown vinegar heavy dressing. My nephew won’t even look at the burger or the fries only thing he ate was the fruit. I don’t understand what I did to deserve this kind of treatment I just went inside and ordered food for my niece and nephew.

There weren't many options at 1130pm to eat after our family member was admitted to the ICU at Forsyth Hospital. We were starving and SO thankful there were options besides fast food! It was surprisingly busy to be so late, so our waitress was overwhelmed but still friendly. We didn't mind....We were just thankful for fresh food and strong drinks! We got two burgers, The Pub Burger and The Double Wester Smash Burger, both with fries and a side of ranch. For me, a great burger is one that the patty is so good it can be eaten by itself, the toppings are piled high and unique, the cheese must be gooey and layed on thick! These burgers checked all the boxes and more! The pickles were even amazing, like how do you perfect a dang pickle? Well, they DID! The whole burger was so big, I had to squish it flat and cut it into quarters! We could've easily shared one meal and gotten full. The fries are fresh, melt in your mouth, yet somehow crispy and flaky. When you dipped them in the homemade ranch...*chefs kiss* I about hollered out loud..no joke! Every bite of the meal was followed by an exclamation of why this was the best burger we have ever had. Why is everyone sleeping on their burgers? Why has no one told me about this? It's got to be the best kept secret in Winston-Salem! Now onto the craft mixed drinks. Youve heart of Craft Kitchens but what about Craft Cocktails? They have them too! Their drinks don't have pre made mixers, everything is hand crafted with fresh ingredients and in house made mixers. I ordered a Blueberry Lemonade mixed drink and my Hubs had the Strawberry Basil. My drink tasted like summer in a glass, the fresh blueberries floating in the drink were delicious treats, the drink was strong and good to the last sip! The Strawberry Basil is the most unique combo. It's fresh, sweet and had some fizz to it. I loved the basil notes and again the fresh strawberries were yummy to munch on when I could fish one out! Now this would be a fun date spot, family dinner( Tuesdays kids eat for .99), or even having drinks with the boys. It's not a fancy place you'd have a romantic quiet meal, but the food is just as good as those places! We will be back Carolina Ale House, thank you for making our rough night better with a warm meal, fresh drinks and friendly faces!!

So this place is trash. Waited 30 minutes for appetizers that came out burned. Manager said they don't look burnt to her, so we had them removed. Of course right after we sent them back our food came out, which is why we told the manager not to remake the appetizers. Ordered a patty melt that wasn't hot enough to melt the cheese, the bread was barely toasted and the bacon was barely cooked. Sent it back, not going to eat trash. Unfortunately I'd have sent everything back, but others in the party decided they'd accept the other food that was brought. Do not ever eat here.

It's been years since I have been here. Since they have revamped the menu in a good way. Had the cheese curds which were great. The burgers are delicious as well. Didn't do anything big drink wise. I enjoyed a couple of Heineken drafts. They were cold enough to enjoy at your own pace. Good beer menu and great service. I would definitely be going back.
