I’ve been living in Raleigh for quite some time now and I only recently tried the Peddler. I am kicking myself for not coming here sooner. There aren’t many places like it left in the country. I haven’t had the chance to choose my own cut of steak in a very long time. There’s something magical about seeing the before and after for the piece you pick instead of just seeing the finished product. I feel like it gives such a personal touch. Old school service - classic salad bar with an entree, reasonably priced glasses/bottles of wine. They are mainly walk in, and the wait varied quite a bit. We were a group of 8 guys and got in after about an hour wait. We all walked out of there after sharing three appetizers, four bottles of wine, and everyone getting their own steak for about $70, which I think is a great price. The quality of the meat surpasses other steak houses in the area, especially for the price. They grill and season the meat perfectly and they cooked ours exactly to order. I highly recommend checking this place out with any party size and if you have a last minute get together for a larger group, they can probably accommodate you.

The service was great, and the atmosphere was dark and classy, like a traditional steakhouse. I was impressed with the salad bar. They had a lot of topping options. I rated the food 4 stars because the sides were slim pickings. Also, the sweet potato was very small. Now the steak. I ordered the Ribeye cooked medium, and it was good, but I've definitely had tastier. My finance ordered the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly (medium rare), however extremely salty for my taste. Overall it was a good experience but I prefer some tasty side options to pair with my steak. The keylime pie was very tasty, and the steaks are very reasonably priced for a steakhouse. If you've never been, I'd give this place a try. The wait times can be pretty long, so I would definitely get there before open, since they don't take reservations for party's less than 8.

I had salmon, asparagus, and salad bar. Salmon cooked on point for me, however, a bit salty. Asparagus could be trimmed a bit more as the stalks were woody and couldn't eat them. Salad bar is a clear winner. My date had ribeye, asked for medium, was more on medium rare side, but he ate it. Good flavor, tender. Service was steady. We waited in line at 4:10 pm with others for their 4:30 opening on a Saturday. Someone commented on being cold, yes, in the back dining room, it was chilly. And the place is dark, luckily, our table was directly under a canned light, so we enjoyed the meal in ambient lighting. Old school steakhouse. No frills.

My mother expressed that she wanted a juicy steak for her 77th birthday, so I read the reviews for the steak houses in the area and was impressed by those for The Peddler Steak House. I made reservations at The Peddler Steakhouse for 15 people (14 family members and me) to celebrate my mother‘s birthday. I received great customer service on the phone call. I was even more excited when I asked if I could bring in a cake and was told that I could. Everything was set for our special celebration. We were greeted with professionalism and pleasantries upon arrival at the restaurant. We really loved the ambience. The entire restaurant was fairly dim with somewhat of a nostalgic decor. We were escorted to an area in the back with other large groups. This was an ideal setting for us. It created an atmosphere that was comfortable and made us feel at home. We were seated quickly and our hostess, Haley, took our initial drink orders while we waited on everyone to arrive. Haley was very personable and took care of all of our needs with a smile. The children adored her as she made sure to acknowledge their presence there as well. The salad bar was a hit. There were a variety of options available, and everything was fresh and crisp as applicable. The grilled bread was also really good. One suggestion for Haley is that the next time she is serving a table with 15 people that she puts a separate basket of bread on both ends of the table so that people aren’t having to move the bread along from one end of the table to the next to ensure everyone can get one. We ordered a variety of dishes. We had ribeye, prime rib , and porterhouse steaks. We also had the salmon dish, tuna dish, and various appetizers and sides. Everyone that had the steak dishes truly enjoyed it. The crab dip and chips were also good; a couple people felt it could’ve used some more herbal seasoning but otherwise everyone enjoyed it. The salmon was seasoned perfectly, and cooked just right. Having brought in our own cake created an awesome experience for us to sing happy birthday to my mother and have an enjoyable and celebratory gathering. Being able to do this truly made our day and most importantly made my mom very happy. This was our very first time at this restaurant. Everyone had an enjoyable time during our visit. We will be back.

If you are ever in Raleigh and staying in the Crabtree area off Glenwood, forego the mall, Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang and other chains to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere that you will find at Peddlers!! I started at the bar to a perfectly made old fashioned. The bartender recommended I have the peddler cut at my table. My server Mary was quick to greet me and bring my dring. I told her what i wanted and they brought out a loin and cut my ribeye to my desired thickness. After ordering I helped myself to a well stocked salad bar. Shortly thereafter a perfectly seared medium, juicy steak arrived. I could go on and on.. Mary was a very good server and I didn't wait for anything. If I lived in the area, this place would definitely be on my list of favorites for date night.

Some of the best value in a steak place as you’ll ever find. Little place with a quiet atmosphere and a small bar. When you come in, it’s like you have come over to a friend’s house for dinner. Crisp cold salads up at the salad bar. Moist steaks cut to the proper portions. Friendly staff and hot sides accompany the meal. The only complaint you’ll ever hear is that the lighting is a little dim. However, it sets the ambience a bit better to keep it calmer throughout the dining experience. It is my preferred special occasion steak place.

One of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh! I've been coming here for years, and the quality of the steak is always top-notch. The service is consistently excellent, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. I particularly enjoy the classic, low-lit steakhouse atmosphere and the cozy little side bar where you can enjoy a beverage while waiting to be seated. Oh, and let's not forget the salad bar—love the salad bar! I highly recommend giving this place a try.
