Customer Review Summary
801 Chophouse at the Paxton offers a mixed dining experience. Many reviews highlight exceptional service from staff members like Scott, Nick, and Colleen L., making guests feel accommodated and well-taken care of. Diners praised the ambience for a romantic evening, especially during Sunday Supper when it’s quieter. The crab cakes, wagyu tomahawk, and filet with black truffle butter were noted as standout dishes. However, there were significant complaints about underseasoned steaks, poorly executed dishes like seared foie gras, and some disappointing sides. The noise level can detract from the experience, particularly with rowdy tables nearby. While some found the experience memorable and worth returning for, others felt the food and service did not fully meet the high expectations set by the chophouse's reputation or justify the prices. Overall, opinions are divided, making it essential for potential diners to weigh the pros and cons before visiting.

AWESOME Service provided by Scott! Lucky Bucket was a great treat for the Prime Rib Sunday Supper! DEFINITELY recommend a Sunday Supper date night over a Friday/Saturday evening as I was able to comfortably talk to my AMAZING Wife and not need to talk over a LOUD table of 8+ nearby. Will DEFINITELY go there again (and again)!!

We were quickly accommodated as we showed up 90 minutes early. We were a party of 6 and 2 of us got seated at a beautiful table. Our other 4 friends bailed after 15 minutes and after we got our drinks. The staff was so kind to move the 2 of us to a booth to free up the larger table on a busy night. We felt horrible for hogging up the table but staff was super kind. As for the service, our waitress was amazing!!! Very descriptive, patient, and full of knowledge and recommendations. Very helpful. We had the crab cakes which are a must. My friend and I shared the off menu wagyu tomahawk and it was DELICIOUS. Definitely come back and try other 801 Chophouses!

801 Chophouse What a huge disappointment. With a beautiful restaurant downtown, staff dressed in green jackets reminiscent of yesteryear, and the extensive time and effort put into telling us all about the meat, the grill, and the aging process… I take no pleasure in saying that I’ve had a better steak at Texas Roadhouse. The steak was basically flavorless. I couldn’t believe how underseasoned it was. I won’t be receptive to explanations such as, “We don’t use salt or pepper so the flavor of the dry-aged beef can shine through,” because it simply did not. Parts of my steak were perfectly cooked; however, some parts were overcooked. I just can’t say enough about how terrible the seared foie gras was. Like, how?! I love foie gras—I order it almost every time I see it on a menu. Who knew you could make it flavorless with the texture of the “chicken” in a Lean Pocket straight out of the microwave? Not me, that’s for sure. The French fries came out hot and well-seasoned, but they weren’t crispy all the way through. The carrot cake was good but would have been better without the caramel sauce all over it. I did enjoy my Old Fashioned—it had a pretty good kick to it without being unbalanced or tasting overly strong. The old-school steakhouse vibe is fun, but the overall dining experience was ruined by a loud table of underdressed and seemingly overserved guests who kept shouting and scream-laughing at their own hilariousness. Couple that with forgettable, overpriced, and poorly executed food, and you’ll understand why my wife and I were so disappointed. At these prices, the list of better options for dining in Omaha is limited only by the number of establishments that are open.

Thought this would be a bucket list meal. Steak was just ok, baked potato was a hard brick, and carmalized carrots were bland and droopy. Key lime pie was pretty good.

Given Omaha’s renowned reputation for exceptional steaks, I decided to dine at 801 Chophouse, and the experience exceeded my expectations. I ordered the New York Steak, accompanied by corn, broccoli, and béarnaise sauce. The service was impeccable, with Nick providing an outstanding first-time experience, while several other staff members ensured my water was consistently refilled, plates were cleared promptly, and my bill was delivered in a timely manner. Regarding the food, I would not particularly recommend the broccoli, as it was rather unremarkable. However, the steak, corn, and béarnaise sauce were outstanding. I ordered the steak medium-plus, achieving the perfect level of doneness—pink but not red. The corn, suggested by Nick, was some of the best I’ve ever had. As for the béarnaise sauce, after searching extensively across the U.S. for the perfect one, 801 Chophouse is the first restaurant that truly delivered. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed and would highly recommend 801 Chophouse to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

The food was incredible and the service was immaculate. In fact, we had such a great experience with Colleen L. that we came back to see her two days later! I had the filet with black truffle butter medium rare and it was perfection. We also tried the baked escargot which was cheesy and garlicky and delicious. I cannot say enough good things about the 801 Manhattan. It burns so good. Go to 801 Chophouse. Ask for Colleen L. She'll tell you all the best stuff and you'll be coming back for more.

This is a top of the line establishment. If you want a steak that has been expertly prepared this is the place for you. The service was great, but I reduced one start because they could not split up the bill. As of the software itself wouldn't allow it. If they CAN'T split a bill I can't give them 5 stars. kind of petty, but whatever. Unbelievably delicious steaks. The pasta was not on the same level but good. As for appetizers, the calamari is not in the top 10 of the Omaha, but the scallops were great. We also had the meatballs which were good. All in all would recommend.

I’ve been to this chophouse in downtown Omaha several times and always enjoy the food and service. It’s a great spot for a romantic night out, a special occasion, or a business dinner—definitely a place everyone should experience at least once. However, I can't quite give it a 5-star rating. For the price you pay, there are other restaurants in the area that offer better food quality and service. While the experience is solid, I feel it could be a bit more refined to justify the cost.
