Customer Review Summary
Patrons generally rave about Stockyards Tavern & Chophouse for its delicious food, especially the Chicken Pot Pie and Rotisserie Chicken Melt. The atmosphere is described as cozy, clean, and conducive to conversation without distractions from televisions. Service is typically quick and friendly; however, some diners report slow service and mixed experiences with food orders, including issues like overcooked steak and forgotten items. Stockyards Tavern and Chophouse was recommended by a co-worker. Ate at Stockyards on a Saturday early evening with NO reservations enjoying time with family. Got a nice square table for the 3 of us in the dining room near the fireplace. Quick service with menus and water. Shortly thereafter drinks and ordered our food. I personally recommend the Rotisserie Chicken Melt. The food and service were fabulous! No complaints! I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet atmosphere with conversations with NO competition of television sets! Prices are very reasonable! Easy parking next to the restaurant. Clean bathrooms. Lots of cool photographs of old South St. Paul. In summary, if you are looking for an affordable restaurant with excellent food and service, this is your place. A super venue to take friends / family for drink, dinner and conversation! I will definitely return!

Kind of meh. Steak was overcooked (not rare), I ordered Cesar salad and got asparagus, and the server brought out the bread after the entree. The food was fine, but overall not enough reasons to go back.

Their food is always delicious and the atmosphere is cozy, clean and fun. Watch the games at the bar or warm up by the fireplace! However, the service is consistently very slow. It is not unusual for there to be long periods where there doesn't even seem to be waitstaff to flag down. They are very friendly and the food is great, but build in a little extra time if you have plans!

I came here on a date night with my boyfriend. We both ordered a steak. I had mashed potatoes, and he had a baked potato. We had a half order of onion rings and bread with butter. I also ordered a long island iced tea. Our waitress was wonderful. I am looking forward to coming back and trying new dishes.

Went for happy hour, had 4 drinks between us. All were well crafted and flavorful. Also had the pretzel, the mustard was nice and tangy, and the pretzel was nice and soft, bready. It was really good. We will return for dinner next time, very promising. Wait staff was quick and helpful, very friendly.

Im sad to say I’m extremely disappointed with our experience here and I’m not one to ever leave a bad review. My boyfriend and I went for dinner, drinks were great but the appetizers and dinner could have been better. I asked for something they forgot with our order for our appetizer that they never came back with… Then they come to bring us our dinner and the steak was undercooked then when they brought the steak back they still forget the sides we were already waiting on for 45 min. I would love to give this place a 2nd chance but feel like we need some sort of refund/discount the next time to make up for our experience. Staff seemed stressed with the cooks in back so we didn’t say anything.

The have happy hour specials on food and drinks even on Sunday. The cod slider was delicious (kind of small, so I ordered two). Service is friendly. Easy to park. Small outdoor terrace. Decor is nothing fancy but seating is comfortable and not cramped.
