Customer Review Summary
The Monte Carlo is a beloved choice for celebrations, particularly birthdays, thanks to its timeless atmosphere reminiscent of New York. The French Martini and appetizer sampler platter receive high praise, with the latter being considered a must-try. However, opinions on the food are mixed; while some dishes, such as the Beijing Chicken Wings and steak, are celebrated for their exceptional quality, others like the walleye and some entrees fall short of expectations. The service is generally lauded as friendly and attentive, though several reviewers noted issues with order accuracy and wait times during busier periods. The ambiance strikes a balance between modern and traditional, making it suitable for both special occasions and casual visits. Drinks, especially cocktails, receive recommendations for their quality, and the patio offers an inviting dining experience in Minneapolis. Overall, The Monte Carlo is seen as a solid dining option with potential for a great meal, though consistency in food quality and service could improve.

It has become a tradition for years now to celebrate my birthday at Monte Carlo. I love it so much because of the timeless atmosphere/ aesthetic that they have maintained so well, it reminds me of New York a lot. I have my order on lock here and I always get the same things for the most part. I start with a French Martini (second best French martini I've ever had) I love how the Martini is poured at the table and you get to keep the extra that is in the shaker, very generous pour here compared to other places as far as martinis go. The appetizer sampler platter is hands down the best thing on the menu in my opinion. You get a little bit of everything and it is so so so good. I always end up taking some home and eating it later. I have always gotten a complimentary slice of their chocolate cake (to die for) with a candle, brought to the table after the meal for my birthday. Patio here is unbeatable for Minneapolis. Love having a martini and a Shrimp Caesar than going across the street to Martin Patrick to shop.

I will admit, I was pretty excited about going to this place. French is my absolute favorite cuisine and add steak to that, it could be heaven. The place is a stunning look back to the 40’s with a small but beautiful atmosphere. Unfortunately, that was not the case for the food. They do have steak, but it’s grade is Choice according to the menu, and that is the same steak you get at the grocery store so I didn’t order it. What they do that is incredible is the Beijing Chicken Wings. OMG, if you are a dry rub chicken wing fan, I would say to date, the best I’ve had. You have to like Chinese 5-spice though and a little breading. And, the blue cheese dressing was also that good. The Szechuan green beans and the Salmon were good too. Everything else that is pictured I would not recommend.

Free parking right by the restaurant! Of course it’s also a good place to celebrate a special event or even have a business meeting. Food is great, service is impeccable, and the decor mixes modern at the bar and traditional at the dining area. It's certainly worth a try if not for the food at least the cocktails! Selection of desserts is limited but tasty! Save room and have a nice dessert wine at the end!

Great place! We tried the wings which were recommended by the concierge at our hotel and they did not disappoint! The touch of cinnamon and paprika was unexpectedly delicious! We also had the homestyle chicken soup and the szechuan green beans. Awesome! Our server was so nice but I missed getting her name! And the manager also stopped by, no name either but she was nice as well! For drinks we had the espresso martini and an IPA beer. Fully recommend!

Monte Carlo is just awesome! The steak was seriously amazing - cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The service was on point too, with the staff being super friendly and helpful. And let's not forget about the vibe - it was just right, not too fancy but still nice enough to make you feel special. Overall, Monte Carlo is a top spot for a great meal. The food rocks, the service is spot on, and the atmosphere is cozy yet cool. If you're up for a tasty meal in a chill setting, Monte Carlo is the place to be. Can't wait to go back for more of that delicious steak!

We ordered the wings, steak, walleye, and fried chicken. Highly recommend all of the above besides the walleye. The Pink Squirrel was fantastic- can’t wait to go back just for that!

I was really excited to try this place and based on reviews and pictures and then was really disappointed. I’ll start by staying I love where they are located in the north loop and the fact that they have a parking lot!! The restaurant atmosphere was nice, low lights, clean and classy looking. Our server was nice, mostly prompt, checking in but did mess up on our two of our orders causing an already long wait to be even longer. It did take an unusually long time for all thing ordered to arrive including drinks. We are a very patient group but I honestly thought they forgot we ordered drinks and appetizers because of the wait. We went for dinner and a group of 6 all ordered entrees. And the entire meal came out in pieces. The fish one place, the baked potato on another the veggies on another… it made the table extra crowded, and added to the wait. Since our order was messed up, two people said with fries while the table ate. The food was very average. Nothing to brag about or recommend.

Popped in here quick for drinks before heading off to dinner at another restaurant. Would definitely recommend the drink menu and the vibrant vibe. Nicole was an amazing bartender!
