Informal joint serving familiar American fare including steaks, sandwiches & burgers.

Customer Review Summary

Lindey's Prime Steak House offers a nostalgic dining experience with its vintage decor and classic atmosphere. Guests appreciate the welcoming staff who explain the meat cuts and prepare steaks to individual preferences. However, the food quality is inconsistent, with several reviews highlighting tough steaks, overly salty sides, and limited menu options. Some diners enjoy the unique family-style sides and upbeat service, while others criticize management and certain menu items, like the steak sandwich. Overall, the restaurant is seen as a nostalgic spot with potential, but it may require updates in both food quality and management to fulfill the expectations of its patrons.

*if you get to the restaurant early, you are likely able to do a walkin. If anything, id recommend calling to place a reservation. Always a great experience, the staff is welcoming and are get to explain the difference between the cuts of meat. They cut the streak in front of you to ensure its cooked to your preferred temp. We love the special as its more tender. Potato and salad are great as well. A guest with us this evening had the shrimp, it was total of 7 shrimp with butter to dip them in. Limited menu items and thats why it's awesome! Bummer they are out of watermelon rinds. Server said they haven't been able to get them for a few months. *update, the no longer are able to get the watermelon rinds from their retailer.

If you're looking for high end truck stop food at 5 star dining food prices. The garlic bread tasted like hot dog buns that were toasted and sprinkled with garlic salt. The steak was ok, but very tough. The potatoes were extremely salty. The plain mushrooms were good but also too salty. Seems like they haven't changed a thing in ages, it shows. I like nostalgia, though they need to revamp everything. They were packed though, though the older clientele will be dead soon, then what? Will not be returning. We were here before over 5 years ago with a similar experience, went back to see maybe it was an off night, nope. It really was just that bad.

Deleted my 5 star review for this- First time coming here for lunch service. My bartender was exceptional. Catered to my drinks and gave me recommendations. Here’s the problem- I ordered a steak sandwich, no condiments, just 3 thin pieces of sirloin. No mayo, onion, etc etc. No big deal. I called back to wonder what was going on and I’m going to assume the manager, Grant L, a seemingly very insecure man too the phone. Continued to bastardize me and then blame it on his employee. I’ll be back for dinner and drinks from the bar, but don’t come back if this tough excuse of a gentleman is working. After looking through tons of reviews this isn’t the first time for him being the core of issues. $14 for a steak sandwich with no toppings is absurd. I’d highly recommend a revamp of management and accompaniments. Bartender would be a great place to start with your journey to find better management

This place is a CLASSIC. Imagine walking back in time to a ‘70s vibed house with wood paneling, with plaid curtains, and the bar still serves classic ice cream cocktails like Brandy Alexanders and Pink Squirrels. It’s an annual tradition to jump into this Time Machine each year for our birthdays: and with only 5 simple options on the menu (get the Lindey’s Prime Sirloin!) it’s hard to go wrong. INSIDER TIP: Ask for the Pickled Watermelon Rind. It’s sweet, tangy, and delicious with the steak!

It's a beautiful restaurant. The staff were super nice and good service. The steak and potato had no taste. It was a big portion. Enough for 2 persons. The garlic bread was the best thing. The Salad also was good but small.

Lindey’s is absolutely iconic and holds a special place in my heart. This place is old school and so reliably awesome. It makes me feel like I’m in a Wisconsin supper club. The Old Fashioneds are on point, the portions are huge, and every single menu item is incredible. I think about the potatoes at least weekly. The watermelon rinds are sometimes available and are worth requesting. This is one of the few places that will truly serve you a rare steak when you ask for one (but will still confirm with you that you know what you’re getting into - it’s definitely rare).

Last night, in Shoreview, Minnesota, we rolled the dice on a place called Lindsey’s, just a stone’s throw from the luxurious Best Western (you know, the one with the lingering eau de urinal in the air). Seriously, what’s the deal with this part of the Twin Cities? Every place smells like Toto’s underpants after a bad roadie binge. Lindsey’s itself? Tiny, quaint even—probably served the same locals for generations. It’s got that “hole-in-the-wall but charming” thing going for it, and I’m sure Guy Fieri's been here at some point, slathering on his patented Flavortown nonsense. I didn’t dig too deep, though—there’s only so much mystery meat a guy can handle in one night. The service? Straight out of Fargo, I swear. Every waitress could’ve been Frances McDormand’s stunt double. Friendly as hell, but after hearing “Oh yeah, sure, you betcha!” about ten times, I wondered if they were all part of some Minnesotan Stepford experiment. Now, let’s talk about that menu. Four items, folks. That’s it. Two steak options that both involve a cow that could probably crush your car. And then they throw in a platter of family-style potatoes that could feed the whole damn state. I’m convinced this is where heart attacks are invented. The steak? Oh man, undercooked doesn’t even cover it. I swear, I’ve had cold sushi that was warmer. It was like chewing on cold leather mixed with seabass, but worse—because this slab of beef stuck in my throat like a block of ice, refusing to thaw out. Medium-rare, my ass; I was practically begging for fire. But the potatoes? Pure salvation. Well, except for a few weird spice bombs that exploded out of nowhere, sending my tastebuds on an unwanted detour through a chili pepper field. And then the moment of truth—when we asked Frances #3, in all her Minnesotan glory, for a couple of shrimp to go with the cow-sized steak. Her response was as expected: "Oh gosh, I’m so sorry, sir, but no. We don’t do substitutions here, don’t cha know? But you can get the whole shrimp order! Real sorry about that, sir, real sorry!" And that’s Lindsey’s in a nutshell: massive, undercooked steaks, peculiar rules, and the friendliest waitresses this side of the Mississippi. An experience? Hell yes. But I’m still waiting for that steak to finish cooking.

Lindey's Prime Steak House in Arden Hills, Minnesota, offers a dining experience steeped in nostalgia with its vintage vibes. The old-school decor and classic atmosphere provide a charming throwback, making it a unique spot for those who appreciate a retro dining environment. However, while the ambiance captures the spirit of a bygone era, the food unfortunately doesn't quite live up to expectations. The steak, which should be the star of the show, fell short in terms of flavor but was still a decent meal. Sides served family style, which was a nice change. The potatoes seemed a little over spiced while the mushrooms were delicious. Mushrooms almost being the star of the show isn't what you anticipate when going to a top steakhouse. Despite the subpar food, the attentive service and distinctive setting may still appeal to those looking for a trip down memory lane. For a truly memorable meal, though, you might find yourself wishing for a bit more substance to match the style.
