I have heard great things about Butcher & The Boar and saw an opportunity to try it out during the MSP Magazine Restaurant Week. Upon entrance, the place is moody, cozy and inviting with hanging warm lightbulbs that add a nice touch. We were seated in a comfortable booth across the bar which gave us access to the Happy Hour menu, from which we ordered the curly fries that were delicious to start. Everything else we ordered was from the Restaurant Week Menu, which shares similar items with the regular dinner menu, just special pricing and portions. We tried the Smoked Salmon Spread served with a side of toast, this wasn’t our favorite, as it was a little greasy and lacked some flavor. We also tried the Blue Crab Beignets these were very enjoyable and were served with a remoulade sauce that enhanced the flavor and paired well! For entrees we tried the Catfish which was good, it had a cornmeal crust and was served with Dirty Rice and the remoulade sauce which were both delicious, the Catfish itself could’ve used a little less breading, and the lemon on the side took it up a level and enhanced the overall flavor. We also tried the Flat Iron Steak, which was the highlight of the night, it was cooked perfectly as well as soft and tender, served with chimichurri and the fluffiest mashed potatoes, would definitely recommend it. To end the night off we had the Ice Cream Sundae, this was so fun to order and another highlight, all the toppings were served on the side and you could build it yourself, we chose the Salted Caramel flavor which had more of a Toffee taste but was still delicious. The Flourless Chocolate Torte was tasty, it was dense and packed with all the good chocolate flavors, yet it was soft and melted in your mouth, super delicious! Overall, we had a nice time visiting and would try again!

Butcher and the Boar definitely lived up to it's expectations! The restaurant looked absolutely spectacular both inside and out. The ambiance was fantastic and lively especially out in the main dining area. However, if that was too much for you, there certainly seem to be adequate seating in more private spaces. The service was as expected. Fantastic! Our waitress was attentive, thorough and very considerate. Food did not take long at all to come out. Our table of six each ordered our own meals along with a few appetizers and four sides to share and believe it or not there were leftovers for those sides. The food itself was on point at least for me. There were a couple of individuals at our table who thought that their dishes were a tad bit spicy. This was specifically in reference to the sweet glaze on the salmon and the pork belly dish. I could tell that the glaze on the salmon though sweet did have a tiny bit of heat but could not taste it in the pork belly dish. The tri-tip was absolutely amazing, this is coming from someone who routinely smokes tri-tip at home. I had asked for mine to be cooked to a medium rare which it was, but I think the difference Maker for me was the amazing sear and crust on the outside. I was blown away at the overall flavor. The chimichurri even though it looked to be piled on top of the meat did not actually detract from how well it tasted. I was able to try each of the dishes that our table had, which included the pork belly dish, the beef rib and some of the salmon and everything tasted wonderful. The sides are table ordered where the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, grits and brussel sprouts. That was a really big fan of the brussel sprouts and grits, the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were okay. The potatoes probably could have been a bit warmer to make it easier to melt the butter in it. I think one of the highlights of this night was the Northern Thai sausage which came on a delicious bed of vermicelli noodle slaw that tasted amazing. This was ordered as an appetizer for us. The flavors of this dish were absolutely reminiscent of other authentic Thai dishes I've had, citrusy, herby, with some heat. I could eat this over and over again! Other appetizers we ordered at our table were the Blue Crab Fritters and Hot Link Croquettes. I always get a bit skeptic regarding Blue Crab dishes because sometimes it can taste a lot more fishy that what I would like, which I know is a bit odd. Biting into the fritter, you can clearly tell on the inside that there was plenty of blue crab. The fritter was fried to perfection, and the overall taste was amazing. You can taste and feel the texture of that blue crab and it was delightful. The croquettes were also very good, I have nothing bad to say about them but probably because I was still rolling in my amazement over the Thai sausage dish and fritter. My experience overall at Butcher and The Boar was great and I would absolutely go back without hesitation. The only drawback I have for this place is the parking. You can either choose $10 valet parking or you could choose street parking. I was considering doing the valet parking, however there were two vehicles that were blocking the entrance so I opted for street parking instead and had to drive around for a little bit before I found the spot about a block away. So make sure you arrive a bit ahead of time for your reservation to make sure you're not late. Thank you Butcher & The Boar for a great experience! We'll be back!

A lovely night of delicious drinks and great food! The market price for the rib was $89 so we opted for the tri tip with chimichurri and we were happy with the decision. I kind of wonder if the MP changes for the rib on weekdays because I’d love to go back and try it. I’d also recommend the chicken salad if you don’t want something so heavy. Great amounts of protein and healthy amounts of good greens! We got the ranch dressing on the side. Our server was great. Host stand is stressful and busy, but hopefully generally friendly. Apricot sidecar was delightful and the Medicina was smooth! 🩷

Stumbled upon this spot while on a national tour and was pleasantly surprised. This is a good restaurant in Minnesota! The food was delicious and the decor and atmosphere are well thought out. Cocktails and mixed drinks are expertly crafted by the bartenders! The prices are surprisingly high, but the overall product and experience is solid. My party ordered a beer and three cocktails, one short rib ($85), two sides and an appetizer and the bill was $221 before tip. It was a really good meal, but it was much pricier than I expected to pay. Maybe one should save this spot for very special occasions! With that being said, this is still a good spot and a great addition to the culinary scene in Minneapolis. Check out the speakeasy in the back!

With the exception of the “chicken and waffle” dish the food was served lukewarm and without steam 🧐(4stars) None of the items listed below were on the brunch menu. Mackenzie took great care of us most definitely going back to check out the dinner service!

We dined at Butcher and Boar last Friday as a family of 7 and had the most fantastic experience from start to finish. We were seated in the center glass room which was intimate yet felt right in the middle of all the energy. We had several sides for the table and then main dishes for everyone (the salmon was out of this world). For dessert we shared the ice cream sundaes and it was such a fun and delicious way to end the meal. The absolute BEST part of our experience, however, was our waiter Ian. He was so attentive without hovering, knowledgeable, personable and wonderfully generous. We will be back, but only if Ian is our waiter❤️

This is our go-to restaurant for celebrations. The pork and cheddar sausage appetizer is a must. The beef long rib is melt in your mouth tender and worth every dollar. I also appreciate they are still willing to make my favorite cocktail for me even though it's no longer on their menu.

We were in town for a long weekend and were able to get a reservation last minute here. We arrived early and grabbed a drink at the bar before we sat. I had a delicious lemon drop martini and the beer menu was very good. The service was perfect and restaurant was beautiful! The food took a little long but once it arrived we could see why and we were very pleased with the outcome! The roast chicken was maybe the best I’ve ever had. They had a great menu with a lot of choices. We shared grilled sourdough, cucumber tomato salad, leeks and onion gratin and the chicken. 10/10
