I chose Mint29 for my birthday this year and given we were a big group I made the reservation a month in advance. It was done very quickly and easily over email correspondence. They were super responsive and welcoming. We were seated as soon as we got there. Food, service and atmosphere were all very good. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves. They served the cake that we took along with us with no extra charge. I would definitely recommend this place.

Consistently good food and great service. I’ve dined here multiple times and I’m never disappointed. I love the family atmosphere here and it seems like people come here with larger parties which I love the intimate vibe and atmosphere. Recently, I dined upstairs which was small, but nice details. I had the special oysters which were okay. We started with the Mint29 season salad that was amazing and the Japanese dressing complimented it very well. It reminded me of soy sauce. I could eat that whole salad by myself. We also had the calamari which was really good especially with the dipping sauce. For my entrée I had the special surf and turf which was a lobster tail and you choose any meat on the menu. I thought that was really nice. The lamb chops are always 10/10, cooked to perfection especially with their homemade zip sauce. The cilantro sauce is good too if you like a verde type of sauce. I mainly come here for the chops and asparagus. It also came with a few carrots that also tasted great. The lobster tail was a good size, but lacked flavor and was tough. The burger is a must try! Definitely recommend this place for date night, night out with friends, just make a reservation it is on the smaller side and tends to book quickly.

★★★☆☆ - Disappointing Experience Despite Good Waiter Booked a month in advance for a post-Valentine’s Day dinner on February 15th, expecting a nice evening with my wife. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was terrible. We were crammed in the middle of the restaurant at a tiny table, squeezed between a large party at a high-top on one side and another crowded table on the other. It was uncomfortable, with people constantly walking by, bumping into us, and making it impossible to relax. To make matters worse, our food, which we ordered medium, came out beyond well-done—completely charred. It’s frustrating that a steakhouse can’t get the basics right. The waiter was great, but the rest of the service was awful. The staff bringing our food were incredibly rude, adding to the disappointment. Overall, not the experience we hoped for. The good waiter saved it from being a total disaster, but we won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Mint 29 in Dearborn offers an exceptional dining experience that seamlessly blends history and culinary excellence. Housed in a former bank building from 1929, the restaurant’s name is a clever nod to its origins, where money was once minted; now, it’s a place where memories are made. Whether you’re hosting a business meeting, celebrating a special occasion, or enjoying a romantic evening, Mint 29 provides a memorable setting. The ambiance is both elegant and inviting, making it suitable for various occasions. The cocktail selection is impressive, with strong and delicious options that set the tone for the evening. My fiancé and I both ordered steaks—the 14-ounce prime New York strip for him and the 8-ounce filet mignon for me. Both were perfectly prepared and enhanced by the accompanying Béarnaise and truffle butters. The sides, served à la carte, included the potatoes au gratin and Brussels sprouts, which were delightful complements to our meal. We began with the crispy calamari appetizer, a personal favorite, and were pleased with its preparation. The service was outstanding. Managers Mitch and Nadine discreetly ensured that every guest had an exceptional experience, and our server, Nayif, who also tended the bar, was attentive and knowledgeable. For those seeking a remarkable dining experience in Dearborn, Michigan, I highly recommend Mint 29. It’s a place where history, ambiance, and culinary artistry converge to create unforgettable moments.

Definitely the best steak I’ve had in Detroit, got surf n turf with a ribeye and it was phenomenal. Kim was our waitress and she was very friendly and got everything on time !

Frequent this location. Love the vibe and the food. This time specifically we sat at the bar and server listed the surf n turf special not listed on the menu which adds a lobster tail, asparagus, carrots and mashed potato’s for around $60 to a steak option. I am not a huge fan of a lobster tail and the server mentioned you could also do shrimp. When we questioned if the price was the same the sever became very defensive and said you get 5 pieces of shrimp if you sub the lobster tail. In my opinion these two things are not even similar in price. I mentioned that to them and when we ordered they tried again to push the surf n turf option and I said I am not interested because the price does not make sense. Their attitude again completely changed. I am willing to pay for quality, but not when it doesn’t make sense. Plus, I have been to many restaurants who tell you the prices on the chefs specials, this location does not. The fillet was very over seasoned, but I get this item a lot and it was the first time, so I assume that was a one off. I do recommend the fillet though. Enjoyed the tuna poke, gratin potatoes, asparagus and mac n cheese. Large portions to share with the sides. Overall great place just think this was a one off with the service level.
