A Great Upscale Place, Good Food, And A Laid-back Vibe... 👍😎👌 I usually enjoy the bar, but the dining room and outdoor seating are very nice as well. Good for families, date nights, or business lunches. 🍸 The oysters and sushi rolls are always great... Seafood is obviously super fresh... My favorite go-to here has to be the "Fisherman Stew"... It's to die for! 🐟🎣🐠 - Hats off to their kitchen crew and the kitchen manager! 👏 *My only complaint about this visit was that all the floor staff seemed very stressed out even though it wasn't that busy... Maybe ownership should spring for a yoga retreat... 😅

It was our first time in New Bedford and we were there just for couple nights welcoming 2025 in quite little town. We made a good choice there. This restaurant was fully booked for the New Year’s Eve but we were told to still come in and see if there are last minute cancellations. We could at least sit at the “FCFS” bar for dinner. We took our chances and showed up around 7:30 PM. The place was packed already and kind of started going toward the bar. Well, our hostess graciously surprised us with an immediate availability of a two-seat booth by the bar and showed us the way to it. It felt like a miracle! The real sensory fun and delight started after that with food and the smiling, laughing people all around us. Our server, Niara is worth mentioning here as she not only a professional but a very pleasant person to interact with. Our appetizers and the main entrees were right on time and well explained by her before hand. We, of course, had New England style clam chowder and later special sushi roll as appetizer. Later, we truly enjoyed our main courses (deliciously prepared red snapper and haddock as Chef’s specials for that night) accompanied by a nice bottle of wine (California Cab-Sav, yes, Red!). We also get to step out for few minutes to watch the city’s fireworks shot from a barge right in front of us in the water. It was spectacular. As we were wrapping up the night at the restaurant, Niara showed up with a complimentary desert for us that, let’s just say made us break dieting restrictions and proved to us that we still had some room left for a wonderful chocolate mousse cake to end the night just grand. If you are in the neighborhood of New Bedford, I recommend you try and enjoy Black Whale as we did immensely. Happy New 2025 All.

Beautiful! Busy, yet pleasant. Sitting on the dock with the (rather cool) ocean breeze was amazing. A delicious meal for the four of us, and great service to top it off made for a perfect evening! Couldn't have asked for better!

Great ambiance and environment. Staff is very friendly, we dined in the indoor patio area with our two dogs. Food for the area is very tasty! Not going to blow your socks off but definitely great eats at a decent price. Good stopover on your way out to the cape.

We had a fantastic experience at The Black Whale today! Our party of 20, including the barbers from my husband's shop, Mission Barbershp, after witnessing one of them get married, had a wonderful lunch. The service was excellent, and our waitress was very nice and welcoming. The view from our table was wonderful, and the bartender did an amazing job selecting cocktails tailored to my tastes. The smoked salmon and crackers appetizer was delicious, and the raw oysters were fresh and flavorful. My husband and I shared the fried fisherman’s platter, which was nicely fried, although it could have used a bit more seasoning. Overall, everything was great, and we had a fantastic time! Highly recommend!

We were in Massachusetts for a 50th birthday girls’ trip. This was our favorite restaurant of the entire trip. Everything was wonderful from the cocktails and food to our awesome server Becca. The bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer were amazing. We had 3 different entrees between the 4 of us.(2-Lobster Fettuccine, Blackened Swordfish and Surf and Turf). They were all delicious! The homemade desserts were so good. We almost skipped dessert because we were so full, but on recommendation from our server…we split 2! If we had more nights we would have gone back every night, there were so many appealing items in the menu.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
