Customer Review Summary

The restaurant Prime 47 - Indy's Steakhouse has received mixed reviews. Many guests praised the top-notch service, elegant atmosphere, and delicious food, particularly highlighting the tomahawk steak, filet, and shrimp cocktail. Some diners experienced issues such as undercooked steak, cold sides, and distractions from the staff. A few reviewers expressed disappointment with the menu variety and atmosphere compared to the Carmel location, noting a more crowded and less intimate experience in Indianapolis. While some felt the food was just average for the price, others considered it the best steakhouse in the area. Overall, Prime 47 is appreciated for its hospitality and quality, but opinions vary on whether it meets expectations based on previous experiences at other locations.

Took my girlfriend here for our golden anniversary first time here everything is five star from the valet to the coat checkout and everything in between from the food to the service ! I would suggest a tomahawk and the sides are all amazing and can feed like three people so it's fun getting multiple sides because you're gonna wanna take some of this home delicious thank you for your hospitality💯

Was very excited to finally eat here. Husband surprised me for Valentine’s Day. We were pleasantly greeted with two hostesses who checked our coats and had a great attitude. Waitresses and staff were very attentive to refill our drinks and change out our silverware. The meatball appetizer was wonderful! We ordered our steak filet Medium, loaded baked potato, creamed corn, and lobster Mac and cheese, Unfortunately the steak was obviously undercooked, still moo’ing and all the sides were cold- butter was not melted in the potato. We did send the steak back and they were more than willing to make it right. We took it all home and I heated it up. Overall excellent atmosphere, great staff and a great view.

The night didn't go as we had hoped. My husband and I have been to prime 47 in carmel and were thrilled when the opportunity to go downtown was presented. We were excited for the same amazing experience, with the same attentive service and menu and quality of food and drinks. That unfortunately was not what we got. The menu didn't have the some of the same items we enjoyed at their carmel location which was sad. The atmosphere was different, in carmel your experience is more personal and seating more private where the tables in Indianapolis are very close together in a large room and you can hear everyone talking very loudly. We had two servers that bounced around us but they also seemed very distracted and took little time to get to know us. For me the food was good but honestly nothing to write home about. I had a new york strip and a lobster tail. The tail was overcooked and I needed a steak knife to cut it and the steak was okay. I ordered an old fashioned and was sad to see it come out with a fake cherry and a slice of orange muddled at the bottom with pieces of it floating around my drink.....not what I expected from a 25 dollar single drink. Overall I think we will stick with carmel location in the future! On a positive note the valet service was very kind!

Wow! Top notch fillet and wonderful service! Everything was on point. Mushrooms and potatoes were perfect, and of course, the bottle of Camus was excellent too! I may have a new favorite steakhouse! Will be back soon!

This is the best steakhouse in Indy/Carmel. I have been to all of the high end steakhouses in Indiana, and Prime is the best! The price is reasonable, service top notch, and the food is always fantastic. I have been there 5 times in the last 6 months the only place even close is Geraldine’s Supper Club, and that is too far from Carmel. Go to Prime, you will not regret it

I really like Prime 47's shrimp cocktail and the atmosphere is quite elegant. My wife loves lobster mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was just that...mac and cheese. There was not a trace of lobster in this dish. I am hoping for a better experience next time...probably won't be with my wife.

The service was great. After arriving there, we did not realize that we made reservations for the wrong location, The ladies at the front desk made accommodations even when they were busy. They could have just pushed us away, and they didn't. The food was also great. Amazing flavor and portions were perfect. Our server was great as well. When my husband ordered a new drink, he never tried, and he did not like it at all. The server adjusted our bill a little, which was unexpected and nice. We were not asking nor expecting that.

A tad disappointed with our anniversary experience overall. However, the staff did do an excellent job and presented a nice anniversary desert gift. This is probably a place will not be returning to because there was nothing really truly to write about that performed better than Ruth Chris - Capital Grille or St Elmo's. The other challengers have Prime 47 beat at this downtown location. When there are so many places to choose from - a person chooses to return to the places they had the best experiences. We had not given this restaurant a chance since the "piano" days and that to us was a fabulous selling point. Now its gone of course. The meal was good. The mushrooms, corn and even the steak were just par. The drinks were also par. We were impressed by how close the Shrimp Cocktail was to the best in the USA at St Elmos - very close, and probably the closest competitor in this area. The drinks were good, but nothing made them stand out -It was nice/pleasant and OK is how we both felt with the entire experience. When a couple spends 200+ dollars on a meal, really it should be special. Yes, it was a special night for us, and the staff did everything perfect-----it was all about the food here that kept this place from our overall hot list or local recommendation list. As a local city police officer for over 30yrs I must always be honest and ethical to guide everyone to the best of the city. That would be Capital Grille - St Elmos - Tonys - or the Oceanaire. Those are the spots where you want to go and be seen. Sorry that I must check the box below to say "no I cannot recommend Prime 47 to my friends, family or followers on social media, but still within the top 10-15 restaurants in the city. WARNING: Also do not make the same mistake: We saw PRIME 47 gift cards at Costco earlier this week and decided that would make a good place to go on our anniversary --Found out after our meal the cards are only good at CARMEL location - so read closely all PRIME 47 are not true
