About Lindy's Steak House - steak house in Boise, Idaho

Customer Review Summary

Lindy's Steak House receives mixed reviews. Many customers report poor service experiences, including being ignored or rudely asked to leave. Food quality is inconsistent; some dishes are praised, like the clam chowder and the prime rib dip, while others, such as the halibut and overcooked vegetables, disappoint. The atmosphere is described as friendly and laid-back, with a bar vibe that feels welcoming. Despite some negative encounters, a few diners enjoyed their meals and expressed willingness to return, though others vowed never to come back again. Overall, it seems there are both excellent dishes and problematic service issues that need to be addressed.

This was our first visit, and probably our last. My halibut chunks were chewy. How does that happen? I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out well done. My friend's prawns were fried so dark they almost looked black. The steamed vegetables side was so overcooked you could have fed them to an infant. The positives were: the service, the clam chowder (although extremely thick it was delicious), and the bread they brought out at the beginning was delicious. My husband's finger steaks weren't bad, but not any better than others around town. We might give them another try someday because I don't like giving someone only one shot, but at this point we need to let some time pass...

Stopped at the restaurant to eat at 730 pm on a Thursday with 2 kids and sat there for 10 minutes and never say a waitress! Went to the bar to see if we could get menus and was told by the lady that she was the manager of both sides and was the only one working and she didn’t have time to serve anyone in the restaurant side! 2 other couples were setting there and said they had been given there ticket 20 minutes ago and never had anyone come back! When I asked her why the open sign was on she told me not to be rude and never come back! Only gave it one star because zero stars wasn’t available! She don’t need to worry because I will make sure me or anyone I talk to never supports Lindy’s!

Tried to go to Lindy’s tonight for dinner 4 adults and 2 kids we were told to take a seat on the restaurant side and then told they were too busy to serve us. We were asked to leave by the manager and told not to come back. Have never had such rude service!!!!

Hands down the worst service I’ve ever witnessed. Manager made sure to tell us she was the manager and if we didn’t want to wait for service we could leave. Told us she was short staffed and if we didn’t like it to leave. We said fine we will leave and we were then told if we were going to be rude to never come back. I will never recommend or waste my money there! Do not waste your time!

Lindy’s Steakhouse is like going home again. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back, whether it’s touch tunes playing or a game on the screen. The food is awesome and you can’t miss. The finger steaks are the best in the state, the taco salad is award worthy and the fish and chips are righteous. Next try the Mushroom Swiss Burger and you have a party in your mouth! Yum!

Lindy’s Steakhouse in Boise is a true hidden gem and a must-visit for anyone passing through or local to the area. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a warm, hometown bar vibe that makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, perfect for a casual bite or a laid-back night out. The highlight of my visit was the prime rib dip—it’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, while the au jus added just the right touch of richness. It’s the kind of dish you’ll keep craving long after you’ve left. What really sets Lindy’s apart is the staff. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every guest felt welcome and taken care of. Whether you’re sitting at a table or pulling up a bar stool, you’ll feel like part of the family. If you’re in Boise, do yourself a favor and stop by Lindy’s. Grab a drink, enjoy the incredible food, and soak in the down-to-earth charm of this place. It’s more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

My wife and I shared the 13 oz. Rib Eye meal. The flavor of the steak wasn’t bad but when I think of a Rib Eye it should be no less than a 1/2” thick. It maybe was a 1/4” thick. How do you make that med. rare? The potato and vegetables were cold but I got to say the breaded mushrooms were really good. I give it only 2 stars.
