Overall good experience. Atmosphere is kind of quiet and sad but they make up for that with the tasty food. Had a late lunch with my wife, and got the Hawaii Maki, Naruto, Dancing Girl & Smoked Salmon & Mackerel sashimi. Some of the freshest fish Ive had so far in a sushi restaurant in Tallahassee. Id recommend Japanica and would definitely eat here again.

Not busy at all on a Sunday night. My family of 6 was seated rather quickly. Hibachi is always worth the price of admission. Food was on point. Chef did the normal tricks but it never gets old when you have young kids.

If you want and appreciate good sushi this is the place. The food is great. The chef choices are not skimpy or cheap. No “fill” pieces. All my pieces were great and very well prepared. I know the economy has hit many of us hard but this is worth the couple extra bucks.

While the food was enjoyable, I found the hibachi chef to be rather basic and lacking in the entertaining tricks that often enhance the dining experience. While the culinary aspect was satisfying, the absence of engaging hibachi skills left me wanting a bit more excitement during the meal.

Every time we go to Japanica in Tallahassee. We asked ourselves why we go to Osaka! We love going to Osaka…. But Japanica gives you more food for the money and it’s also a really good hibachi choice in town.

If you like hibachi and like lunch, you should mosey on over to get their lunch specials. Still comes with soup or salad. I always like getting double rice instead of veggies bc I love fried rice.
